"Are you ready to go?" Cierra asked, breathless. One shoulder was holding her phone to her ear while she raced down the stairs grabbing her car keys.
"Can you believe it's the final already?" Dawn asked, sleep heavy in her voice. "God, if you hadn't called I would have slept right through it. Can you imagine having to re-take calculus for the whole year? We'd have no choice but to drop out and become…" She paused trying to think of what their future might have held, "Well, I don't know, but still. We can't drop out! Not in this life…"
"Right, right," Cierra said, already exasperated. "I'll be there in five, you better hop in here in two seconds flat or I'm leaving you."
Dawn was outside when Cierra arrived, jumping into the car.
"This is a hijacking!" She said, pointing her fingers like a gun at Cierra, "Get me to school stat or I'll blow your brains on the dash!"
