"I think," Goldie paused, measuring her words carefully, "There has been a miscommunication."
"I will deal with Cierra first, and—" Goldie started.
"No, no." Before Cierra knew what was happening, Morganna was beside her, arm wrapping around her shoulders, "Watchers are not known for keeping their deals. You will tell me what I want to know now, or I kill the girl."
"Mor," Fer Benn growled, "You nee' tah step 'way from her. She's un'er my protection."
"And what does that matter to me?" Morganna answered, turning to hold his eyes with hers, "You left me out in those woods for how long?" Her tone took on a fake curiosity that barely masked her rage, "I'm serious. How long have I been stuck as a godforsaken crow? Why can't I access the other realms?"
She turned back to Goldie.
