Is this the future?
Humanity had almost been completely wiped out. Few of them were still left wondering through the rotting world.
You could see cars still lying there on the streets, incapable to move anymore. Vegetation squeezing and thriving everywhere they could find light. The once civilized cities were turned into a jungle.
Nature was an ever-evolving place. Plants evolved so strong they could break asphalt to find the light.
The oxygen increased, and that meant that everything multiplied in size with the price of unevolved animals being eradicated.
Rats turned into giants could roam outside freely, they ate everything that came near them.
Once upon a time rats were these little annoying things that ate from garbage and lived in sewers. Now the world was the sewers and people were the garbage.
Bees were creatures you wouldn't wanna cross. Triple the size that they once were they could kill you instantly with their newly developed poison. They still were important for the environment and lived in fusion with the plants.
The ruins of the old world were now the habitat of the evolved order of the food chain. Once on top humans had dropped significantly down the list. Evolved new breeds of animals and mutated monstrosities were now on top.
The people were forced to live in underground civilizations away from the menacing savage reality. They didn't come out unless they needed food. The Hunters were the only one allowed to go outside to look for food to provide to the commons.
The underground civilization was separated into 8 sectors. The King had placed "The Non-Terra Guard" on every major post with no way of exit without a signed permit, so no one could go from one sector to another without special permission.
The Non-terras, were a special military of selected people with access to military-grade weapons such as: M16A2s, Pistols, MK16s, M4s, Grenades, Snipers, Sub and Machine Guns, Ak-47, and many more unknown to the public.
The King was a man named Alistar De Leon Riviera. He lived in the Royal District named "Unus". No one except officials could enter there. The man was untouchable and 24/7 guarded on his stronghold.
People were divided into classes: First was the absolute power of "The King", then came the right hand "Isabelle Mcdomerry" which was the king's wife, after that "The High Officials", The Scientists, The Military and the commons.
The farther you were from the main district the worse it got. People got food for their work and no more than that. Criminality was rampant and everyone fought for survival.
Black Markets were created by people who knew people that knew secret passageways to the outside world. Still, it was not recommended to go out there. Besides it was very expensive, you needed 50 rations of food for payment.
The commons ate only a ration of food a day just to survive for longer periods. therefore, to stack that many were a difficult task, and much tougher to hide. Thieves roamed everywhere waiting for the opportunity to grab and swipe whatever they could get their hands on...
....Everything turned into an unrecognizable vortex of colors and disappeared.
Ethan was waking up, in the "real" world.
