Chapter 95 - Mission in Newstein [2]

(Julius Argenti POV)

As I went up the elevator, I checked the blueprint for where the security room was. My targets were underground, but the only way to access the elevator that went to the basement was to go to the top floor. On that floor was a private elevator.

After going to the highest floor I could, I entered a random room. Unfortunately, residents were in the room, in a compromising position. Both man and woman were naked, engaging in coitus.

"Well, this is awkward."

Before they could do anything, I sent two {Water Whips} toward them, knocking them out before they could do anything.

I went to the balcony and looked up at the night sky. There were no stars, but the cool brushing against my hair comforted me.

I built up mana in my legs, before jumping to the top of the casino.

The was a helipad and a door that went to the top floor. I smashed the door apart and sprinted through the floor, reaching the private elevator in a split second.

The civilian guards' noticed my presence, but a few {Ice Shards} killed them. I forcefully opened the elevator and cut the cable. I then jumped down into the shaft.

Just before I hit the ground, I slowed my fall by grabbing the sides of the shaft. The destroyed elevator was at the bottom.

Behind the elevator doors, I sensed the presence of guards waiting for me.

'The noise must have alerted them. Though that doesn't mean much to me.'

At this point, I didn't care if the targets knew I was there. My targets couldn't escape me now that I was right here.

I unfolded my greatsword and cut a square in the elevator.

*SREEECH*

I could sense the guards recoiling from the noise that my sword made. I then kicked the door of the guards, knocking them out.

'Wait, I shouldn't be calling them guards. The only people here would be my targets.'

Other criminals quickly arrived because of the commotion I made. Upon seeing me, they immediately fire their guns.

However, compared to the ones the military used and the ones used in the Ausburn attack, these guns were worthless. These guns only accelerated with gunpowder and barely hit Mach 2.

I on the other hand could travel at Mach 1.7, without exceeding my maximum, which meant that dodging or deflecting the bullets was extremely easy. Even if they hit me, it would only tickle.

Even the hypersonic bullets posed little to no threat to me unless I was caught completely off guard.

I got rid of the annoyances with a few {Mana Slices}. I scoured around the base, getting rid of the people in my path.

Since this part of the base wasn't mapped out, I was walking in completely blind. The bland metal corridors weren't helping me navigate this labyrinth.

Eventually, I made it to the security room. Just as I was about to enter the door, I felt a few people hiding on the ceiling.

'Trying to ambush me? You're too weak to do that!'

There were 2 C ranks and 4 D ranks, awaiting me. As soon I as opened the door, I immediately sent jets of water upwards, knocking them off the ceiling.

Though surprised at my attack, they quickly recomposed themselves and readied themselves to fight. The room was fairly spacious, allowing me a bit of freedom of movement. But it made sense because they had to monitor the entire casino from here.

It wasn't enough space, but I couldn't expect a bigger room than this.

From one of the monitors, I caught some people trying to escape with another exit that probably lead to the sewers.

'I better finish this off quickly. I don't want to ruin my perfect record and have Umbra yell at me.'

The four D ranks immediately fire their guns at me. Feeling the mana flowing through the formulas engraved on the guns, I realised that they were artifacts.

"Seriously? Why do everyone and their mothers have these guns? They're supposed to be regulated by the military! Where can I get one?"

The criminals were indifferent to my bantering. They kept firing, while the C ranks fought me in close combat.

Though individually I could beat them their coordination made it difficult for me to land a hit on them.

The C ranks were fighting me with two katana-like swords and the D ranks were providing cover support. Plus, even though it was quite spacious, the room still wasn't enough to dodge all their attacks.

Though the hypersonic bullets wouldn't pierce the reinforcement on my body, they would still drain me of mana and I still had to be wary of the potential B rank.

*CLANG*

As I deflected one of the C ranks, I hid behind a counter trying to think of a plan to eliminate them quickly. From their attacks, I quickly realised they weren't trying to kill me.

They were trying to stall me. They knew they weren't getting out of there alive.

'If I spend any more time with these guys, the others will escape.'

After spending a few seconds thinking of a plan, I resolved to use 10% of my mana in one go. Though 10% seems little, it would take a few hours for that amount of mana to recover.

I jumped into the air, enhancing my perception speed past my maximum. The world around me felt extremely slow as if I was in a frozen world. I couldn't move my limbs, but I still could move my mana.

I created some water, before freezing it and reshaping it to resemble spears. After, I accelerated the spears as fast as I could, before releasing the {Ice Spears} at the D ranks.

My perception speed returned to normal and I hit the ground with a thud. That all happened in 0.1 milliseconds. After confirmed the D ranks were dead, I rushed the C ranks who were still dazed from the death of their comrades.

Before they could collect themselves, I got to one of the C ranks and slice through his body with a swing of my greatsword.

The other C rank was able to block my attack but was sent flying into the wall behind him as result, leaving a small dent in the wall.

Before he could get up, I threw my knife at his leg. He held his leg he grunted in pain. With the distraction, I closed the gap and raised my sword above his head.

From his perspective, I looked at the grim reaper, looking to claim another soul. Bringing my sword down, I claimed the life of another person.

After confirming the kills, I looked up and saw the destroyed room. The monitors were all destroyed by the fight.

Though the hard drives were mostly intact, so I was able to pull a map of the underground base with the help of SUITE tech support.

They would also help in finding any information stored on the servers. Leaving the security room, I quickly ran to where I noticed the others leaving. If they escaped now, it would be over 10 times harder to find them again.
