Chapter 3 - MIXED EMOTIONS

Darren wakes up the next morning with a headache after having too much to drink last night. He didn't realize that drinking that much alcohol would have such an impact on his health. Drinking too much alcohol can cause you to get sick and make you feel worse, but it can also cause a headache the next day. Darren's headache is not just a normal headache though, he has been diagnosed with a hangover which means he will need to take care of himself and drink lots of water to make sure that his headache goes away.

Darren receives a text from Stacey saying she enjoyed kissing him last night.

Darren's heart was racing, he had butterflies in his stomach. He had to be at work soon so he quickly typed a reply.

Hi, I had a great time last night too. I would love to see you again soon.

He hit send and waited for her reply. It came shortly after he finished his coffee and was on his way out the door.

I had a great time last night too. I would love to see you again soon. I'm really looking forward to it!

"I just want a nice, easy life right now, I am not really ready for a long-term relationship. I am not looking for the drama that comes with dating someone. I just want to have fun and enjoy my time with someone who is just as lazy as me and wants to have a good time too." Darren said over a text

Darren was very surprised when Stacey told him that a long-term relationship is not important to her at the moment. He felt relieved that he just broke up with his ex-girlfriend. Stacey could tell that he was not hurt by her words and she felt that she must have struck a cord. She quickly told him she does not mind them being friends.

Are you kidding me, Stacey? Darren said. Do you mean you won't mind us starting as friends?

Stacey took a deep breath and thought about it. She wasn't sure if she could trust him, but she knew that she wanted to try.

"No, I don't mind," she finally said. "Just be careful."

"Of course," Darren said and smiled, "I wouldn't want anything to happen to the most beautiful girl in the world."

"I don't know, Stacey. Maybe," Darren replied. "I'm really busy at work and I don't know when I'll have time."

Darren dropped his conversation with Stacey and prepared for work. He had to get to the office and answer a few emails. After he was done, he would be able to go back home and talk to her about everything that had happened.

The night after Darren and Stacey had dinner together, Darren was in his room studying when his phone rang and he told James about Stacey "What are you doing?" Darren asked. "Just wondering if you're still in love with her," James replied.

"I'm not in love with her," Darren said. "She's just a girl I went on one date with."

"Oh my God. You're in love with her," James replied, laughing and shutting the door.

"Darren!" James said, "I can't believe you're considering getting Annabelle back." Darren looked like he was thinking hard and James continued, "You know what? You should just forget about her. She's not worth it." Darren looked at James with a surprised expression and replied, "I don't think I'm going to forget about her."

Darren was sitting with his best friend James when Darren said, "I will turn out just fine." James looked at Darren and said, "You're going to make it through this." Darren laughed and said, "I know I am."

Stacey visits Darren at his apartment and cooks him a hot dinner while they watched a movie on TV.

Stacey told Darren she wants to wake up with him every day for the rest of their lives. She said it was the best decision she has ever made. Stacey's and Darren's relationship had been going well, but they were just friends. Darren always thought that there was no chance for him and Stacey to be together, but Stacey always said she wanted to give it a shot. One day when they were hanging out at the mall, Stacey told Darren she loved him and wanted to be with him for the rest of her life.

Do you remember when we first met Darren? I remember you because he was the only one who asked me out. After that first date, I knew that he was the one for me. I still remember the feeling of being with him and the way he made me feel. I'm glad we didn't have to wait too long to start dating. Now, every time I think about you, I smile and remember the good times we had together.

Daren was taken by surprise and all he had to say was, "I understand"

"I don't need you to understand, I just need you to love me, Darren," said Stacey. I never knew what love was until I met Darren. He has taught me what true love is, and I can't imagine my life without him. He is my best friend and my rock. He has helped me through some tough times and I can't thank him enough for that. He is the perfect man for me, he is everything I have ever wanted in a man. The love we have for each other is so pure and beautiful that it makes me feel complete. I never knew that love like this could exist, but now that I have found it I know that I will never let it go.

"I'm not leaving you, Stacey." They shared a deep passionate kiss, their bodies intertwined and entwined. Her hands held his face as he lifted her up, carrying her to the bed. "This is where I want to be," he whispered in her ear, his voice raspy and full of emotion. She could feel his heart racing and the warmth of his breath on her skin as she replied, "I know."

James was concerned about Darren because he hadn't heard from him in weeks. James decided to call Darren, but his phone went straight to voicemail. James was a little worried because this was the first time he had not heard from Darren in a long time. He decided to send a text message to Darren's phone, but as soon as he sent it, the phone vibrated with a new text message from Darren. He replied to the text message and they made plans to meet up later that day.

It was a beautiful day and James was on His way to the store when he saw a woman standing in front of him. She looked so tired, but just then he smiled and I knew that she was going to be okay. She said "Hi" to him and he smiled back, not knowing what else to do. Darren continued on His way, even though He wanted to stop and ask if she was alright. He had a few more steps to go before he reached the store, and then he turned around, waved goodbye, and went back inside.

James was discussing with his friend Darren about Annabelle and her recent break-up with her boyfriend.

"I think she's still really down about it," James said. "She hasn't been out of the house in days."

"Yeah, I feel like she's been really depressed lately," Darren agreed.

"I'm going to try to talk to her about it," James said. "I know it's been a few weeks but it's not like she's ever going to be happy again."

"I saw her today," James starts, "and she seems nice."

"She's not so bad," Darren replies.

"She seems like a good person," James continues.

"I just don't know how to tell her that I'm back."

"Tell her that you're back? Are you kidding me?" Darren asks.

"I don't know how to tell her that I'm back, so I thought if I told her that I liked her, she would think I was joking," James says.

"You're a weird one, you know that?" Darren replies."I hope you're right," Darren said.

James is discussing with Darren about Annabelle.

"I'm not sure I like her, I think she's a bit too much of a know-it-all," Darren said. "I don't know if that's just a personality thing or if she just doesn't like me."

"Well, I don't know if it's just a personality thing or if she just doesn't like you," James said. "But I think it's worth giving her a chance. She seems like a really nice girl."

"What if I just don't like her because I don't like girls?" Darren said.

"I don't think that's it," James said. "I think you're just not seeing past her personality."

Stacey goes over to meet Darren at the coffee shop for cakes and ice cream for their night date.

"I don't know what to do," Stacey sighed as she stared at the ground. "I mean, I like you and I think you like me, but I don't know how to make it work."

"Well, I mean, I feel the same way," Darren said. "I'm sorry I didn't say anything sooner, but I was just trying to be a gentleman."

"It's okay," Stacey replied. "I understand. But now what?"

"I don't know," Darren said as he scratched his head. "But I'll tell you what I do know. You're really important to me. And whether or not we end up together, I'll always care about you."

"I like you a lot," Stacey blurts out, her face turning red. "I think I might be in love with you."

Stacey was in a state of confusion. She knew she liked Darren but she didn't know how to tell him how she felt.

"Hey, I like you," Stacey blurted out.

Darren looked at her with his eyebrows raised. "I like you too, Stace," he said.

Stacey was relieved and smiled, "I knew it!"

"I like you too," Darren said, smiling back.

Annabelle had just recently met someone new.

"I think we should try to get to know each other better." Peter said, "Can we go out sometime?"

"Yeah," Annabelle said, "I'd like that."

"So what's the deal?" Annabelle asked Peter. "I mean, I feel like we've been friends for a while now and it would be nice to have someone to share my life with." "I feel the same way," Peter said. "You're a great friend and I would love to be able to spend time with you outside of work. I just don't know if I'm ready for a relationship just yet." "Well, we can just be friends for now and see how things go," Annabelle said.

Annabelle and Peter have been friends for a long time but never really talked about the possibility of starting a romantic relationship. They both like each other but have never taken the step to talk about it. This weekend, they're going to a party together and are discussing what would happen if they both had a drink. They decide to try the experiment and see what happens. Annabelle is nervous and excited about what could happen but Peter is just as excited and nervous about what could happen.

Annabelle was sitting in her bedroom talking to her mum about Peter. Annabelle had just seen Peter and he was looking really good. He had a lot more energy, he looked more toned and his skin was glowing. "He is so lucky," Annabelle said. "He has got a great job and his company is amazing."

Annabelle was wondering what would happen if she never told him how she felt. Her mum told her that she should go for it and see where the relationship goes. Annabelle then asked what she should say if he rejected her. Her mum told her to ask him how he felt about her and then see what happens.

Annabelle's mum was telling her how to deal with heartbreak, "It sounds like you're dealing with a lot of pain. It is really hard to be in pain all the time. So what I would recommend is that you try and find a hobby. You can find something to do that will take your mind off the pain. You don't need to be doing something that you love, but just something that you enjoy doing." Annabelle took her mum's advice and went to the library to check out some books on hobbies she could do. After doing some research she decided she would love to learn how to knit.

"I don't think I can take it anymore," Annabelle cried, "I'm so tired of being hurt by people. I feel like a piece of trash, and I don't want to feel like this anymore."

"Oh sweetie, don't say that," her mum said as she pulled her into a hug. "You're not a piece of trash, you're an amazing person. You just need to find people who really love you, who will make you happy."

"But I've tried everything," Annabelle said, "I've tried everything and it doesn't work."

"You just need to give it time," her mum said. "It might take awhile, but you'll find the right person."

Annabelle's mum listened to her daughter's complaints and reassured her that they would find a solution. After some time of talking, Annabelle's mum came up with an idea that would work for Annabelle. "I have an idea" she said, "why don't you go to the gym? You'll feel better after a good workout and it'll help you get your mind off things." Annabelle's mum was right; exercise really does help to keep your mind off things.
