They appeared 2000 years ago. They said...
It was common knowledge, a tale whispered from generation to generation...
A war between humanity...
And "The Haunted"
They were creatures that emerged suddenly possession any living being, such a dreadful sight. Dark, shadowy figures with blazing red eyes, they attack and possess indiscriminately, humans included.
A war between humanity and the "Haunted" erupted, a one-sided massacre.
Humanity retaliated, of course, but they were no match for these monstrous beings.
One day... An "Old Kingdom" stood against the relentless onslaught of the "Haunted" knowing defeat was inevitable. But they fought on, defending their walls, their front lines barely able to scratch the creatures' surfaces. It was a desperate struggle, a last stand against an overwhelming force.
At the King's hall, a knight, known as "The King's Right Hand," knelt before the King, reporting that death was unavoidable. "Even so" the King replied, "You'll protect me, Right? My friend?" The King's Right Hand answered, "Even if I must fight death himself, my King." When hope was about to be lost, a sudden surge of shadows engulfed the Knight, to the astonishment of those present, armed themselves to defend their king. After a few moments, the Knight emerged, radiating power. Parts of his body resembled the "Haunted," but he was conscious, his mind intact. His body was aching, the blazing power within him struggles uncontrollably making him want to fight, fight those formidable foes, he the immediately rushed to the frontlines, with the beacon of hope in the face of despair.
The Knight turned the tide of the war, defeating the "Haunted" one by one. His bravery ignited a spark of defiance in the Kingdom's knights, inspiring them to fight back. Even if their task was simply to hold the line, to buy time, they left the killing to the King's Right Hand, "The Knight." Their sacrifices were never in vain, and they died with honor, their courage etched in the records of history.
As the war raged on, some other courageous warriors, those who fought to protect even in death, were also engulfed by the shadows, just like the "Knight." They gained strength, though not as formidable as their leader, but enough to defeat the "Haunted" on their own. The war raged for three days without rest, a brutal testament to the will of humanity. And in the end... Humanity was victorious.
The Haunted was pushed back, one by one, the Haunted just kept on disappearing, bodies dissipating up in the air, leaving only traces of the battle... and the blood of those who were courageous until the end.
After the Kingdom recovered from the war, the King dispatched his "Knight," along with his own men, who had also been touched by the shadows, to aid other Kingdoms struggling against the "Haunted".
Their arrival as reinforcements boosted the morale of the other Kingdoms, and the engulfment of shadows between the chosen people also occurred there as well, a testament to the power of hope and the bonds of unity.
Following the war, the Kingdoms formed alliances, aiding each other and helping to rebuild, a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.
All the Kingdoms around the world signed a treaty of peace and alliance, the foundation of today's collaboration of nations, a legacy forged in the fires of war.
There... was a battalion of knights who had been chosen by these mysterious shadows, and the people, with a mixture of awe and respect, decided to call them "The Haunters."
