My eyes followed my father's form as he paced around the room.
'What's going on?' I asked hesitantly, unsure if I should interrupt his train of thought.
But he continued pacing as if I didn't even exist. He was the one to barge in here without a word. I was trying to make out what he was saying but it all sounded like the ramblings of a madman.
So I crossed my arms and leaned against the chair I was sitting in. Then, all of a sudden, he stopped and turned toward me.
I stared at this pointing finger with a raised eyebrow but didn't bother saying anything. He opened his mouth then closed it again, gaping like a fish.
I raised my second eyebrow as well at this and he said, 'How dare you go behind my back like this?!'
I frowned and said, 'What are you talking about?'
He came closer with his pointed finger, and I had half a heart to cut it off.
His face was starting to turn red as he screamed, 'Beelzebub told me all about it!'
I only blinked up at him slowly, keeping up my clueless exterior. My expression was perfectly calm as I looked at my nails and said, 'I still don't know what you're talking about.'
'You and Eurynome!' He screamed so loud, that I winced. Although I wasn't sure if it was because of Azrael's loud voice or him bringing up that annoying name.
I looked at him in disgust and said, 'Please, we don't even belong in a sentence together.'
Azrael was visibly shaking in anger, and I almost regretted saying it. No one wanted to be on the receiving end of my father's anger.
Then, he turned away from me and said in a low voice, 'You, young lady, are grounded.'
I blinked at his form for a second, trying to decipher if I had heard him correctly. I couldn't help it but I burst out into a laughing fit.
It was the most hilarious punishment I had ever heard. As if I needed his permission to do anything, demons are no stickler for rules. He should know this better than anyone.
By the time I was done, I was breathing heavily and sitting on the floor. Azrael was looking at me with a stone face but even that seemed funny to me at that moment. I barely concealed laughter as I tried to restrain myself.
When I was calm enough, he raised his hand and there was a loud smack as the windows snapped shut. My laughter was gone as I glanced behind me at the sealed window.
Slowly, I got up and tried to open the window. But it wouldn't budge. So I started shooting fire at it despite knowing that the castle was spell-proof.
I was too busy attacking the window when I heard Azrael say, 'Have fun, Náli.'
I only caught a glimpse of his form as he vanished into thin air. The fireball I had thrown for his head hit the wall and went up in smoke. I glared at it and rushed over to the door.
It was the same as the window, and I screamed. I glared at the wall as I imagined different ways to strangle Azrael's fat neck. Maybe I could recreate Jesus's death by pining him to the wall with seven knives. I was going to enjoy giving him a slow death.
