Samuel's eyes flicker to life as his wounds heal, he finds himself chained to a table. He can barely move with the metal straps on his hands and feet. He observes the room; the walls are of silver colors. There is a table at one end of the room and a screen on the wall.
There is a rectangular glass on one of the walls.
The metal straps are cold against his skin and he can tell that if he was of any lower form they would burn. His confines are made of silver; this room was made to torture supernatural beings that are weak to silver.
Amanda is strapped to another table beside him, she groans as she wakes up.
The table makes a sound as it begins to move, it rearranges itself to stand vertically so they look at the glass on the wall. They notice the device that hurt them at the four corners of the room.
The Screamers.
"We filled your bodies with silver bullets that melt into your bloodstream and yet you refuse to die," a speaker from the ceiling airs a voice.
Samuel and Amanda quickly recognize this voice as the man that picked Gabriel's phone, "Erwin. Show yourself and then you can find out why" he says.
"I don't think so. We are going to dissect you and your friend. We will find out what you are," Erwin says, "You Tremblays are stupid if you think you can hold us. The only reason I did not destroy your family is because of your ties to the McQueens and our temporary alliance. But I think it's safe to say that has ended," Samuel says.
"You said you killed my brother. Where is his body?" he demands. "Don't worry. You will join him soon enough,".
"Argh" Samuel screams in pain. Agony passes through his features as he wriggles against the table and his eyes glow.
"What is wrong?" Amanda asks as he begins to take deep breaths, "Are you alright?" she asks.
"Gabriel, I think he is trying to reach me from the spirit realm," "Can he?" "I don't know, it's not easy but he is not any normal human soul. He is more familiar with that world than most," he says.
"Is there something you want to share with us?" the voice asks, "We don't have time for this," Samuel says.
Amanda breaks the straps on her and rips off the table from its wires and leg. She throws it at a screamer, "Turn them on," Erwin's voice says.
Samuel breaks free from his table and charges toward a screamer. He throws it at another just as it comes on. The last screamer releases its noise but it has little effect as the sphinxes ignore it.
Their eyes glow brightly as they walk towards the glass; Samuel and Amanda roar at the glass until it chatters, creating a way for them to leave the silver room.
They are welcomed with gunshots but this does little to stop them as they dash forward, killing their assailants and staining themselves with blood.
Kate and Rachael become alert as they hear a loud roar accompanied by gunshots inside the mansion. Rachael shares a gaze with her aunt and as much as she tries to hold herself she can't help but smile.
There is only one reason the Tremblays would be shooting up their own house. They are fighting someone and with the number of gunshots that is heard she knows this person isn't easy to kill.
"I guess you are right aunty, it is too late".
The guards in the room run to join the source of the commotion as Elena and Kate watch Rachael, "You know Samuel will listen to me. Tell your men to pull back let me speak to him," Rachael says to Elena.
"I'm not in charge here," she says, "You have to make the call or he will kill all of you," she urges her cousin.
Elena pulls out her cell phone and makes a call; "Tell him Rachael wants to speak to him," she says and in a minute the gunshots stop. Elena throws her phone to Rachael, "Hey Stranger. It's me, Rachael" she says.
Kate gathers her flowing brown hair and ties into a ponytail as she watches Rachael talk on the phone.
"Rachael. What are you doing here?" "I came for you. Samuel we need to talk," "We will talk but first Erwin needs to die. He said he killed Gabriel," Samuel and Amanda walk slowly as their assailants walk backwards.
"You know that can't be true," Rachael says, "His weapons can't kill me but Gabriel lost the luxury of that when he...," he pauses, "Erwin knows something and he is going to tell me even if it means killing everyone he loves," he says.
"It doesn't have to be that way," Rachael tries to persuade him.
Erwin and Lucas enter the room with some men, all walking backwards and aiming their weapons at Samuel and Amanda as they walk into the room. Rachael's eyes are filled with joy and shock; she is happy to see him after he left but she never thought when they met he would be covered in blood.
It reminds her of the first time she saw Samuel kill at the club, his blue glowing eyes and the blood of his enemies were scary back then but right now, they are mesmerizing.
Samuel's eyes glow brightly as he sees Rachael sitting on the couch. His hands are wet with blood as he holds a phone over his ear.
The whole room feels empty has he listens to her heartbeat, he remembers a few weeks ago she was dead and he could not sacrifice his immortality for her.
He feels a bulge in his chest as his mind replays that night, "Hi," she says, her voice drowns every other thing around him, so much so that he still holds the phone to his ear.
Samuel comes back to his senses when Kate points the semi-auto at Rachael. Samuel turns his eyes to the 5'1 feet woman as she tightens her grip on the gun. "Tell us, what are you? Talk or I will kill her," she says.
"You Tremblays really are despicable. You would kill your own niece just for that?" Samuel sighs as he tosses the phone in his hand to one of the Tremblays' men.
"I am a Sphinx. Now put the gun down," his tone his cold, "How do we kill your kind?" Erwin shouts as he steadies his grip on his weapon.
"I won't ask you again. Put down the gun," Samuel says.
"Answer the fucking question," Kate says, "None of this is necessary. We don't have to do this," Rachael stands up from the couch, "Shut up or I pull the trigger, Rachael" Kate barks at her.
Elena points a gun at Kate and the room is caught off guard by her actions as she stares at her mother blankly.
"What the fuck is going on?" Amanda mumbles.
"You Tremblays always remind me that you don't have to be a vampire, a werewolf or some other ungodly creature to be a monster. Drop your gun or Elena here is going to blow your fucking brains out," Samuel says.
"What did you do to her?" Lucas questions, "What were you expecting when you sent her to camp with the enemy? She is mine now. You can kill her if you want, I don't care.
Or better yet, she will kill you and kill herself," Samuel says.
He rubs his blood stained hands against his tattered suit, "Now, what is it going to be?".
Kate can see the evil in his eyes, he calls them monsters but he is the true monster. He and his brother led their sister to her death. They brainwashed Rachael and caused Marcus' death and now he controls her daughter.
Kate drops the gun on the table and Rachael picks it up, returning it to the back of her jeans where it was.
"Now, Erwin. Tell me what you know about my brother. Believe me when I say if I don't like what I hear, I will kill all of you," he threatens.
His bushy brows squeeze into a frown and the wrinkle under his eyes seem to get thicker as the monster stares into his eyes without a fear in the world.
Sweat drips down his pointed nose, "You think you can just threaten me," he says with a furious face.
"Shoot her in the leg," Samuel orders and Elena sends a bullet into Kate's leg, her mother screams in pain but Elena shows no remorse.
"Wait, stop. We didn't kill him," Lucas shouts out, "We didn't kill Gabriel," he says.
"He is right. They didn't do it. Someone else did and he took his body," Rachael says, "Samuel, a supernatural killed Gabriel" she says.
Samuel clenches his fist as he realizes that he must now go and look for his brother's killer, "Let's leave," he says, "Our phones first," Amanda demands.
She did not understand how the whole situation changed but she is glad favor is on their side.
She collects their phones from one of the men, "Gabriel's phone," Samuel says. It takes a minute for Erwin to bring out the phone with reluctance before throwing it to the sphinx.
He pauses and turns to look at Elena, "If any of them follows us. Kill her and then yourself," he says with a cold stare and leaves as the Tremblays part for them to exit the mansion.
"You know they are never going to accept you after this, right?" Samuel says to Rachael as they walk through the hallway, "I know,".
"You must be the girl Samuel can't stop thinking about. I am Amanda, his best friend" the blond woman introduces herself. Rachael had not paid much attention to her since the whole situation seemed intense, she looks familiar.
"I would hug you but as you can see, I'm soaked" she says, revealing her blood stained clothes. They come out of the mansion and find Elma and Bryan smoking cigarettes in front of the building.
"Amanda," "Elma," the two blonds greet each other with warm smiles.
"Boss," "Bryan," "Boss, we have to talk,".
