Chapter 5 - I Am Sorry to Hear That

This morning, Flora was supposed to go to her college. It has been more than a month that Flora has not seen her other friends. However, after an accident that took her sight away, Flora chose to stay at home. She did not want to make her father hate her even more.

"Flo, someone wanna meet you," Darcy said as she walked over to her bestfriend who was sitting quietly in the bench of the garden.

Flora was enjoying the sunset while sitting among the blooming and fragrant roses. This girl then turned when Darcy called her, though still she could not see the smile of her bestfriend.

"Who?" Flora asked with a frown. She was curious about the person who was now with Darcy.

"Hello, Flora. How are you?" A soft and masculine sound rang in Flora's ears.

Flora also remembered the voice she had heard even when she was on campus very often. "Mr. Evan?" the girl asked.

Evan smiled because Flora still recognized him. Slowly, Evan stepped and now this man sat beside Flora. Darcy also sat beside her bestfriend.

"Yeah. I'm glad you can still recognize me, Flo. I'm sorry to hear about the accident that happened to you. I really didn't know until Darcy told me about you," Evan said with a worried face.

Darcy just nodded. The short-haired girl knew that Evan, one of the lecturers at their college, had special feelings for Flora, the only girl who was beautiful and sweet like a doll that she was met.

"It's okay, Mr. Evan. Thank you for visiting me. And I'm sorry that I bothered you," Flora said. She then looked down sadly.

If you look closely, Flora's face now looks thinner. Even though her body was getting thinner. It seemed that the girl's inner pressure was greater than the pain after the accident.

"Don't say like that, Flo." Unexpectedly Evan moved his hand to gently stroke Flora's head. This man was showing his genuine concern.

"I don't feel bothered at all. I'm the one who should apologize because I'm late to see you," Evan replied, still patting Flora's head.

"That's right, Flo. Mr. Evan also came to take you back to the college. If you are comfortable, Mr. Evan will help you. I will also accompany you. We are in the same class," said Darcy.

Flora straightened her body. Her eyes were fixed on her mother's flower garden. But the beauty of the roses' color could not be enjoyed.

"So, do you want to go back to the college?" Evan asked and tried to persuade one of his students.

Flora sighed. "I'm sorry, Sir. But with my deficiency, I can't seem to take my classes anymore," she answered.

"Don't worry, Flora. I heard from your mother that you will be able to see again if there is a suitable eyes donor for you." Evan was still trying to persuade.

Flora was sad to hear that. Finding a suitable replacement eyte was not easy, unless she commits a crime by forcing a person with a suitable eyes to give it to her.

What was more than that, that in the morning she heard that her father's small company went bankrupt because Tristan cut off their cooperation relationship. Gerald was still angry with his own daughter.

"I'm sorry, Sir. I think it's getting late. I want to rest first." Flora seemed to avoid the conversation of the three of them.

"But ...."

"Sir, please come to our dinner. But now I have to go," Flora added as she stood up and used her cane to walk.

Before the girl could take a step, she had tripped over Evan's feet. Luckily, the man managed to catch her. Darcy screamed softly because she was surprised that her friend fell on her lecturer's lap.

"Darcy, could you please leave us alone for a second?" Evan asked.

"Okay, Sir. Then I'll go inside first," Darcy answered in agreement.

Now, in the garden there are only Evan and Flora. The man was still hugging one of his precious students and Flora had accidentally sat on her lecturer's lap.

"I'm really sorry, Mr. Evan ...." Flora squeaked. The sound of a cane falling was heard softly next to Evan's feet.

"It's not a big deal. The important thing is that you're okay, Flora," Evan replied.

Flora's heart skipped a beat. What was more now she felt the slow breath of the lecturer who was so close to her. Flora tried to sit by herself, however, Evan still held her.

"Listen to me, Flora. I have something to tell you," said the man.

Flora sat on Evan's lap. Her heart was still beating fast. What was more the girl can remember clearly was that how Evan handsome face. With the help of her memory, she felt like seeing a handsome man with a tall body and pure white skin. Evan has Asian descent.

"Flo. Actually I've kept this feeling for you. But I realized that you are too perfect and I let you to be Tristan's lover," Evan said. Flora's body stiffened hearing her lecturer's expression of feelings.

"And now I don't accept it when I hear Tristan was cheating behind your back. Even though he is the son of the second richest person at this country, it doesn't mean that he can do whatever he wants and hurt your heart," he added.

Flora felt how warm his hug was. She could only be silent. Evan then pulled her into a tight hug. "From now on, I will take responsibility for your happiness, Flo. Let me take Tristan's place in your heart," he whispered softly.

Flora can feel the sincerity in each of Evan's words. But for her, it might be difficult to open her heart again to another man. Especially with this current situation.

"I'm sorry, Sir. But ... I can't accept your feelings. And I'm also not a perfect girl like you said before," Flora replied, she tried to give an answer so as not to hurt Evan's heart.

"No. You are still perfect in my eyes, Flo. Be my wife and I will make you happy," Evan said again as he tightened his arms.

Hearing Evan's declaration of love instead of making Flora happy. The girl felt a tightness in her chest.

"I'm really sorry," she said as she gently pushed Evan's chest. The girl leaned back slightly, putting some distance between them.

"I'm really sorry, Sir. I can't accept your feelings. Please understand. I ...." Flora cried again. The girl still does not fully believe in the thing called love. Sweet memories with Tristan have hurt her heart, who sincerely loves this bastard man.

"I hope you understand. Because I hope you find the perfect wife, who can see her husband's face. Not me. I don't deserve it," Flora whispered again with a cry that sounded sad.

Evan took a deep breath. the man knew that Flora still in love with her bastard ex-boyfriend.

"Okay. I'll just wait for you until you can open your heart for me," said the man while giving a soft kiss on Flora's forehead.
