Chapter 126 - Tame beast

It was the first time that students had been called to the headmaster's office because of a disturbance. It was certainly necessary, especially when several students were involved. The figure of the director, a robust woman with heavy make-up, frightened the younger ones. The way she watched them was as if she was able to analyse their souls and discover all their sins, even those of past lives.

Milles had also felt fear when he saw her pass by the corridor accompanied by the two coordinating teachers, and they entered the room closing the door. Unlike Nicolas and Sadie, the alpha had not been called. He still stood in the corridor in front of the headmaster's office waiting.

He reproached himself for staying in place when he had seen Nicolas rage. Again. Every time that happened, Milles became unable to help his omega. His legs would turn to lead preventing him from walking over to Nicolas and calming him down.

Although this time the situation was even more complicated.

His sister was involved. She had wanted to expose Nicolas in front of the whole school, which hadn't worked out so well. Milles let out a low laugh. Who would be able to go against that damn shorty? I mean, he never let shit like that get him down. It didn't matter if he was an alpha, a beta or an omega, male or female. None of that mattered, because Nicolas Howard would never allow anyone to stand above him giving him orders.

That was one of the reasons Milles had fallen in love with him.

From the moment they had bitten each other, when their relationship had begun however torturously, Milles had seen different faces of Nicolas. He had seen him blush with embarrassment, smile at him, laugh with him, worry and cry. Unraveling every bit of that omega was a diversion the alpha had begun to have since they started that very strange relationship.

But his heart was still beating fast. Because he still hadn't gotten over what had happened before school. He could never imagine Nicolas' ability to say in front of the whole school that he liked him.

No.

That he loved him.

And still cry.

When their eyes had met in that moment, Milles had been most profoundly certain of what he already knew. They had fallen for each other together, it was a fact. From the moment he had been kissed on the court, Milles' heart would already belong to Nicolas. It took all that time and drama to feel that.

With those words, that look, that voice... Milles had simply made the decision to throw everything up in the air. He was hiding because he thought it was for the best. He didn't want Nicolas to suffer when he graduated and not be there to protect him. He knew he would face a big problem, but for Nicolas it would all be worth it.

Leaning his head against the wall, the alpha sighed worriedly. He closed his eyes squeezing them shut without knowing what to do. His sister had gotten into a lot of trouble, and who knows why. He had told her so many times not to fight with the captain, making the situation even more unfortunate.

Opening his eyes when the door was opened, minutes later, the alpha watched the students leaving the boardroom. Lilian accompanied the omega from her class, and then finally Nicolas and Sadie. None of them said anything, the girl had only glanced at him before turning her back on him following down the corridor.

Watching his sister ignore him had caused a certain discomfort. Should he go talk to her and clarify the situation? Or should leave her alone?

― Let her go,― Nicolas had said, as if he could read her thoughts. Turning to the short man, Miles noticed the seriousness transmitted in those black holes ― You'd better get ready, big guy. The board will have a meeting with the parents.

― Fucked up. But is it so big that they have to call the parents?

― Your sister and Thunder broke into the headmaster's office to pull my school records. Those assholes didn't even know they were being filmed by security cameras. Anyway, because I threatened her, they'll want to talk to my mother too.

Swallowing dryly, Milles sighed going back to watching his sister already far down the hallway. Holding the omega's hand, the blonde turned pulling him towards the opposite direction where they were supposed to go to the gym.

However, in slow steps.

― Did you receive any punishment?

― Not yet. I'll only know after the meeting with the parents. ― Nicolas murmured looking down. ― Fuck, I didn't want to get my mom into this.

― It wasn't your fault, and she knows it.

― That doesn't mean that the headmaster won't fight with her. Or whatever. They'll think she's been covering for me.

― Your mother didn't do this, she gave you a suspension according to school rules.

The two stopped walking when they saw another couple standing there waiting for them. Theodore's sad look had gone out to meet the two of them, Nicolas sighing as he opened his arms and welcomed his best friend into them.

― Nico, how are you? Hm? Did you have any problems?

― I should ask. Are you okay? Do you feel anything? You didn't hurt yourself?

― We're fine, there's nothing to worry about.

― Sorry, Theo. My sister pushing you like that could have hurt you and...

― It's okay, Miles. The other day I also fell on my butt from slipping on Lisa's lego.

Gabriel had hugged his boyfriend from behind, placing his hands on Theodore's belly, smiling like a knight.

― Our little egg is fine. ― Laughed the alpha looking at the two friends with some concern. ― How do you feel now that the relationship is exposed?

Milles had glanced over at Nicolas, who seemed suddenly more tired. As expected, he would have used a lot of energy to keep his head up in that argument. He was probably going to sleep for hours later. Leaving his hand on his head, had his tired eyes turn to Milles slowly.

― Relieved.

― I know you guys are going through a rough patch, but Professor Marcos is expecting you for practice. ― Theodore warned.

Going to training was like moving on. They would do the same things as always, without commenting on anything. At least that was what Milles hoped. Having exposed their relationship meant only that he and Nicolas were together. He'd probably piss the short guy off with something, he'd cuss him out and everything would go back to normal.

No one would treat them any different.

Despite all that, what Milles was most worried about wasn't even the training.

A story was about to repeat itself, and this time he would be the one dealing with the problem.

As they headed towards the gym, staying well behind the couple, Nicolas had glanced over at Milles holding his arm preventing him from continuing to walk. The alpha was lost in thought having such a serious physiognomy that it didn't even suit him. Bite was doing its job in letting him know about the alpha's concern. Having brown eyes on his own, the omega had soon warned him.

― While we're training, the meeting with the parents will probably already be happening. If you want, you can stay at my house for a while.

Cracking a corner smile, the alpha ruffled the omega's hair.

― Relax, if I need anything you'll know, won't you?

Nicolas nodded, walking forward again. Watching him from behind, Miles realised that the short man was three times as brave as he was. He should let himself be inspired by his omega. Next to him, he looked so pathetic.

As the boys entered the gym they became targets of questioning and more questioning. The curiosity about when it all started and how they could have fooled everyone was the main course of these players. Even if the secret about Nicolas' class had been revealed, no player dared to play with it.

The worry had been swallowed and the bad mood had become apparent. As they practiced cuts and blocks by splitting the boys into two teams, Nicolas had externalized his anger into strength. His cuts were strong, precise and fast as they always were when he had built up anger. Gabriel had sweated his shirt to keep up with him.

The coach had again divided the boys into two teams for a practice match. Milles and Nicolas were on opposite teams and it hadn't taken long for the alpha to notice he was the target of the omega's cuts. At first he had ignored it, but as the match went on he had started to get angry to the point of shouting.

― Hey, you little turd! Are you trying to pick a fight? Why are you aiming at me?

― A giant pole like you is like a target. You should improve your reception. Take my advice.

A vein popped out on the alpha's forehead.

― I'm gonna throw this ball in your face, you'll see!

― Then start taking it seriously, I'm tired of waiting for you to improve your game.

And the brawl soon resumed. Gabriel held the ball under his arm, watching this with the other boys of the team, who did not seem so surprised.

― Are you sure they are together? Like... it doesn't seem so.

― It's like this all the time, believe me. ― Gabriel confirmed with a sigh.

― Isn't it like that saying, love and hate go hand in hand?

A second ball was thrown in the direction of the boys, breaking up the conversation.

― What are you whispering about? Get on this damn court so I can kick your asses!

― Wow, he's mad. ― said Sam.

― Save yourselves if you can! The beast is loose! ― shouted Boyle emotionlessly.

Stepping under the net holding the omega's chin, Miles turned his face and sealed his lips longingly. Never mind the reaction of the others, who were not surprised, let alone the reprisals of the coach, who was talking to Theodore in concentration about something.

As soon as he stepped away from the omega, Miles cracked a wide grin at noticing the blush on his cheeks and the silence.

― That's right, quiet as a good boy.

As he watched Milles resume his position on the court, the rest of the boys sighed heavily.

― He has indeed been tamed.

― Taming, it's all taming! ― chanted another player, before being shot by a ball that had hit his head so suddenly.

Better than they expected, the team had accepted their relationship well. Probably because they found it fun to follow their fights, which showed they hadn't changed much, and also because they noticed that Nicolas had been dominated by that alpha.
