— You guys have the taste of victory, right? ― Laughed the coach when meeting with the athletes in the school gym. ― Your teamwork was excellent today, congratulations!
The eyes of the players came to shine such happiness that they had after securing the spot for the final rounds. With Thunder and Boyle on the benches, the players who replaced them worked very well under their captain's direction. In addition, the brilliant trio were Gabriel, Nicolas and Milles.
Theodore had been amazed at the way they had played. Bright and beautiful. They would never have such synchronicity in their lives before. Certainly this was due to the fact that certain two people had finally given their arm to cheer, accepting the relationship they had.
Did the bite have that much impact?
Theodore wanted to believe so.
— And the crowd? Wow, it was awesome! When I stepped on the court and heard them shouting my name at the time of drawing was totally Aaaaah! Why didn't we have a cheer until today?
― Because you're on the team, who wants to root for you?
― Words definitely hurt, you know?
Happiness stood out to fatigue. Victory certainly left the boys euphoric and determined. Probably the news that a cheerful crowd had brought victory to the school team would spread, and Lilian's plan would work. More students would join them.
— Very well! I know you are all happy to have won today, but that means we will face stronger teams in this final stretch. Take a shower and leave your uniforms, go home and rest. Monday we'll be back in full swing.
― Yes sir!
The team was dismissed, and the young men headed to the school locker room where they could bathe. Theodore had been waiting outside as he always did, putting on headphones and plugging into his ipod. Choosing any song to listen to, he had let the playlist roll on the headphones while watching his notes of the day.
Several new plays could be worked on that week, discovered in the last match. He had even detailed a few things he had written in haste, completely losing himself in his concentration without noticing the presence of some alpha sitting next to him.
He had only noticed the presence of someone at a glance around him, encountering Milles still there.
― Finished? Nor dried the right hair. ― Murmured Theodore taking one of the headphones.
― I'm waiting ― Whispered the boy trying to disguise.
Was Milles afraid to be seen with him? Despite being by your side, there was a good distance between them. Okay, Milles might be in some weird relationship with his best friend, but that doesn't mean he's comfortable with him. Even after they worked it out.
― Will you take him away? Accompany him home, I mean.
― Do you know? ― Laugh Milles.
— It's the least, since I was worried. ― Whispered Theodore pretending to read his notes sympathizing with the disguise of his new friend... If he could call Milles your friend.
― Do you talk about everything?
— Years of friendship don't disappear with our trust just because of a disagreement. We know how to wait for the right time to apologize and listen to what the other has to say. In addition to scolding, of course.
Again Milles laughed, leaning his arms on his knees as he looked and waved to some players who left the locker room.
― So he fought you for telling about the bite?
― We'll work it out if you're worried about that.
― It is not.
— That's what I imagined. ― Smile Theodore turning the page to continue detailing his hasty scribbles. ― But I'm surprised you two made some kind of deal. I figured you'd ignore each other.
― Well I tried, but it's not easy. When the bitten person is your half.
The look Milles had cast on Theodore had made him stop his notes just to feel that butterflies in his belly. As if it were magical advice to be received. The blonde had never imagined that the person he wished never to see in his life would become his friend giving him advice.
Although... the story of Nicolas and Milles could write a novel. Theodore had even considered drafting something just to have fun imagining how things would have happened between them. Yet he suppressed such an idea before it was noticeable in his gaze.
― If you need anything, I'm here.
— Thanks. ― Thanks Milles, and then realized that Theodore was on the phone despite still talking. Pointing to the phone, he questioned right away. ― What are you listening to?
― I have random songs, now it's playing KLB.
― Do you like that? ― Milles used to make a face.
― I'm a romantic guy. ― Laugh Theodore extending the phone to Milles. ― Want to try until someone arrives?
With nothing to do but wait, Milles accepted the headset and set it in his ear with the melody sounding. With the silence in the gym the sound of the piano invited those boys to plunge into the lyrics and melody. And for the first time Milles could understand the feeling of having a song talking to you.
"Today I have dreamed
With an angel
Made just for me
Who will say
Where we're going to go
When the love ends
If it's all over
His wings
Will protect me
And when the night comes here
I lay down to think
In the light that was lost
An angel comes to kiss me"
Theodore had looked from the corner at the alpha, who leaned his chin on his knees closing his eyes immersed in the music. A smile appeared on the lips of the blonde to realize that he was fulfilling a slight mission at that time.
Just as Nicolas had said earlier, those two did not love each other yet. Even though they felt that completed each other, that their instincts were longing for each other and now shared a connection by a bite, they still didn't love each other. They probably didn't realize how great it was to be in love.
Well well well, Theodore loved being in love with Gabriel. That is why he firmly believed that these two friends were wasting time in refusing the irrefutable.
Yearn for the arrival of a loved one. Smile when he smiles. Feel butterflies in his stomach as he searches through the crowd. To have your whole body responding to the slightest touch. And when all those wonderful sensations were gone, your world was empty.
"and your love
Soft as the wind
Pleasure without judgment
That makes me fly
And when the pain
Makes me more of a coward
I feel the courage
To be what I am
Why for ever
An angel comes to kiss me"
― Do you really find this romantic? ― Milles murmured without looking.
Theodore made Indian legs by resting the notebook on its side to take the ipod and ponder whether to change lanes. Perhaps Milles needed a clearer and more objective music to ponder his own feelings. Although that letter was good enough to understand.
Opening a slight smile, Theodore agreed with his head to give up changing music.
— When you think you are alone, immersed in your own fear, all you do is look up and aim to get out of that situation. If you take a look at your eyes, you can see that someone is waiting for you.
― You thought of it all with one song?
Tilting his head childishly, Theodore smiled like a true angel.
― Do what, I was kissed by an angel.
Milles had let out a nasal laugh.
"And when I get down
My pain seems
Have no end
Sky-high
And I know
That the stars
Will always shine
And when the night comes
I'm alone
Without anyone
The sky went out
An angel comes to kiss me"
Short and shy, Theodore sing along with the music. Without directing looks full of hints to your newest friend, only transpiring enjoy the sound. He would tap his fingers on his legs following the melody, without noticing a curious look coming from his side.
― Are you trying to tell me something?
― No. ― Theodore answered simplistic. ― And you, are you expecting me to say something?
Denying with his head, the alpha sighed.
― I get the message.
The victorious smile was covered by a cough from a third person. The two blondes raised their eyes to Gabriel who arched his eyebrow.
― You two sharing the phone... Ham.
Milles leaned toward Theodore to whisper in his ear.
― He's jealous, isn't he?
― A lot. I'm a poor omega who can't handle so many of that alpha's feelings.
― A kick in the ass should do the trick.
― What are you whispering about? Look at that, I don't like it.
Forming a beak on the lips Gabriel pulled the wire from the headset Milles and pushed with his knees to gain space and sit next to Theodore. Mumbling like the old Eustace from the cartoon, the alpha passed his arm around the omega shooting his best friend with his eyes.
― Clowning.
― Iiih, what is it? I can't to him?
― No. You have to make an appointment and do a background check.
Milles stared at his best friend.
― What a fool. That's not even tied his donkey yet, and is already the owner of the farm.
― Ah, I was called the farm ― Laugh Theodore turning off the ipod and storing in his bag next to the headphones.
― It was bad, little Theo.
― Little Theo? ― Growl Gabriel widening his eyes, entering the game.
— How do you two manage to be so loud? ― Nicolas grumbled as he approached the three with a small towel hanging over his head. Staring at Gabriel, the captain had a slight kick in his foot ― Get off, is very close.
― From whom? ― Gabriel asked pointing subtly to Theodore and Milles.
Showing the middle finger to the athlete, Nicolas sat in front of Gabriel shooting him.
― If I turn my back, the plague will show up.
― You're mumbling again, Nico.
― Whose fault? ― The omega claimed the best friend. ― It looks like those packaging market, take one and take two, always glued.
Theodore laughed fun stretching his arms to his friend.
― Are you that sleepy, Mr Grumpy? Isn't it time for bed?
― Okay. ― Nicolas had opened a smile as he stretched his arms to Theodore and hugged him tight. ― Go to sleep.
― Hey, hey, hey.... But look at that. ― Gabriel replied indignantly. ― Excuse me? Go sleep in your man's lap.
― I am already. ― Pin Nicolas showing his tongue childishly.
― What? ― Turning to unbelieving Milles, Gabriel tried to seek some refuge ― Will say nothing?
― I've had my fill of punches for today. Turn around yourself.
Shocked by his best friend's lack of interest in his soulmate, Gabriel turned to Theodore pointing to Milles over his shoulder. The blonde just laughed giving a few taps on the shoulder of the alpha, comforting him to have been ignored by his own friend.
— Are you sure you've tied your donkey somewhere else, Captain? ― Gabriel had complained to Nicolas, who sat on Theodore's legs covering his face to rest. ― Not letting him loose?
― I've got a cow and she's gone to hell.
Fiddling with his own phone, Milles didn't dare look away when answering.
― Muuuuu.
Theodore and Gabriel looked at each other and began to laugh until tears escaped from the corners of their eyes. As loud as they could, their voices echoing through the already empty gym. For the first time the quartet had fun together in the autumn evening, as if they were four longtime friends.
When he got home and was asked how his day had been, Theodore opened the most sincere smile and said.
― Great fun since I was with my friends.
