Chapter 79 - Friends for any shit

Meeting with his group of friends at the fountain, Gabriel had been seated in a space that gave him the exact view of a certain Tabebuia where an omega used to sit. To his delight, he was there reading book and listening to music, completely immersed in his imaginary world. All right, every now and then Theodore raised his eyes to greet some students, showing them his smile. Still it was a beautiful sight.

Receiving a nudge from Milles that addressed a sly smile, the alpha laughs low again paying attention to the conversation among the others. However, was interrupted when Thunder and Boyle watched Nicolas arrive, going alongside Theodore and lying on his lap.

Nothing new under the sun. Apart from the fact that two alphas peek into that scene.

— Let me tell you. ― Whispered Thunder, making the others come closer to hear him better. ― Yesterday during detention I saw Nicolas and Theodore kissing.

― What? ― One of Sadie's friends screamed. ― Are they... really together?

Gabriel had felt his whole body warm. Not an exciting, passionate heat as he had felt in the last few days, but something as furious as a runaway train. Immediately he looked for the eyes of Milles, who lost all the colour of his face in pure surprise. The alpha would poke his friend's arm discreetly, watching him blink and aim at him still pale.

Moving his chin in a silent question of what might be happening, Milles just denied with his head.

— I'm telling you! As Boyle and I finished cleaning the bathroom he went to the window to be dating. I saw him hugging and kissing. I smelled omega from afar.

— Because they are surprised, we always suspected that they had something. ― Sadie grumbled with a victorious air ― That's good, at least they can leave us alone. Those two deserve each other.

― That little guy always seemed to root for the wrong team. I should have suspected a little more. I don't know... I liked him.

― Yuck! The two are always together. Of course they must be making out.

― Can you shut up? ― Milles complained suddenly, getting confused looks from his friends.

― What animal bit you Milles? Lately you are strange. ― Sadie complained crossing his arms to his brother.

― Stop talking about these two, what the hell! That's all you can talk about?

― Iiiiih, what is it? Are you defending them now?

Milles cluttered his hair growling loudly. The circle of friends moved away unable to understand what was with that boy. At one point he seemed to laugh together and then he was all angry. Gabriel would not juggle the confusion, because he would be in the same boat if he did not know exactly why Milles change so much in such a short time.

Or rather, he understood very well!

He wish could scream and growl like Milles. Make it clear how angry he was to imagine Theodore kissing someone other than himself. For heaven's sake, he hadn't been waiting for him last night since his parents were coming home for dinner. If he hadn't stayed at school just to... to...

What would he have done?

He certainly couldn't resist Theodore. He kiss him hard. He touch his body and get drunk on his scent. He would have to control himself, which was an almost impossible mission. He could only say that for a very limited time he would hold your world in my arms.

― Is there something going on that we don't know? The other day instead of defending us, you pushed me. I didn't forget that. ― Growl Thunder.

Milles turned to his friend and approached him.

— I'm the one who should be asking what the fuck is going on with you to get in a fight with the captain of our team in the middle of the heat. Yesterday you wanted to pick a fight with Theodore.

Thunder turned his head to Gabriel, as if blaming him for being stopped the day before. It was obvious that they would not let him touch Theodore. Just turning the aisle and seeing those first-year boys so close to him was enough to end your day. And all that talk had made it clear that omega would be mad at him.

In fact, Gabriel had no idea what had happened the day before. He had no time to talk to the blonde and clarify the situation. To calm him down and make sure he's made his decision.

― You two are strange. What's Milles, you let them talk to your sister like that?

Rolling his eyes, Milles looked at his younger sister.

― So you're the one fucking my team?

― But I didn't do anything!

— The coach warned that since the qualifiers there will be university scouts watching us. ― Milles replied, seeming to have difficulty maintaining his composure. ― Unlike you who have another year, I only have a few months. This is my last chance to get some college scholarship, and you, Thunder, are fucking this up.

― I did not...

Gabriel had recognized those closed eyebrows and red face. When anger reached its limit and consciousness made a great effort to keep it contained. The fire was transmitted in the husky voice and in between teeth, eyes wide and fists clenched. Immediately Gabriel remained close holding his friend's shoulder in case something went wrong and push him away.

— Fuck that you're love with my sister, you can get down on your knees to her. But don't ruin what's mine. Or I will make sure never to see her shadow again. ― Turning to Sadie, Milles pointed the finger. ― At home we talk. If you do anything funny with any guy on my team, you're finished.

― Are you threatening me?

— You think I have the patience just to be my sister? I've reread your shit just for this, but this is not the time for you to be whoring about your little flirts, Sadie. My captain, my assistant and my players are forbidden to be your toys until I get my goddamn college scholarship. Understood?

Throwing the bag over his shoulders, Milles turned his back on the group of friends. Gabriel took a deep breath looking at the others who seemed completely surprised to see the charismatic Milles on fire.

When Sadie looked at him about to cry, the boy relaxed his shoulders. She was just a teenage girl who had no idea what hell her older brother was going through. Although Gabriel would like to applaud his best friend, because he had disguised jealousy well.

― Did I do something wrong to him, Gabi?

— Of course not Sadie! ― Answered Thunder, standing in front of Gabriel holding the girl's hands. But she averted her eyes and began to cry, pulling the boy's hands.

The friends who stayed there began to call Gabriel with their eyes and move his head so that he would hug her. They wanted to bring them together, that was obvious, but the alpha didn't feel comfortable. Taking a step back, all he could do was direct words.

― You need to understand that you're not the only ones affected by your actions. I told you, Thunder, losing your head here at school is not a good thing.

― We were just talking about the boys, that's no big deal.

— It's no big deal because you don't realize what is obvious. ― Weigh Gabriel taking the skateboard that Milles had dropped. ― I'm sorry, but Theodore is my friend, and I don't like people talking bad about him.

― Ah, so that's why...

Sadie had pulled Gabriel's wrist away from the circle friends. Still in the courtyard, but further away from the gathering of students she can look directly into the eyes of the alpha.

— Theodore is gay, Gabriel. ― Answer Sadie, with dark spots of smudged mascara running down her cheeks. ― You have no idea how dangerous he is. What if he seduces you? Or seduces Thunder? Or any other boy here?

— Seduce? So it's okay for you to keep hitting on me while it's damnable for Theodore to just be my friend? ― Blew Gabriel to Sadie without daring to raise his voice. ― Everyone here just pushing me towards you, without even asking me if I happen to like you.

― I don't keep throwing myself at you.

― Sadie, please. even your brother knows that.

Bothered to see that smudged face, Gabriel removed a handkerchief from his pants pocket and stretched out for the girl to wipe her tears. With an irritated beak on her lips, she accepted to clean herself.

― You're a good girl and I like having your friendship. But that's all.

— Why can't you like me? And another, always defends that... ― With the peek of Gabriel's eyes, Sadie rethought a bit before continuing ― ...omega.

― Respect above all things, Sadie. Look, apologize to your brother and convince Thunder not to make trouble for the team.

― It's okay to apologize to my brother, but the rest is none of my business.

— You know the Thunder likes you, Sadie. Don't be a coward about playing with his feelings. Be direct if you don't like him. Him picking a fight with the captain and Theodore is not cool. This is turning into a circus already. ― Sighing, he stroked the girl's head, showing her the smiling knight ― I know you're a good girl, kind and beautiful. You can overcome those feelings. It's stronger than you think.

Turning his back on the girl and waving to the other friends, Gabriel soon went after his best friend to return the skateboard and ask how it would be. And it wasn't a big deal to look for Milles. There was a place where he could get fresh air to cool your head without being disturbed. And it was the place where they used to have their private conversations.

Behind the school.

Going to that secluded corner, Gabriel smiled to see his friend sitting on the lawn staring at the sky looking lost in thoughts. For the first time he noticed that Milles had changed a lot since the volleyball court. Probably he would have changed too since that kiss, although not with him, had awakened his desires about Theodore.

Gabriel quietly sat next to Milles leaving his backpack and skateboard aside. Embracing his knees, he had looked at the alpha who was staring at him from the corner.

― What was it?

― I'm wondering what happened last night to make you so angry.

Milles scratched his neck and grumbled right away.

― Okay, okay, Thunder saw me and not Theodore. How can you be calm?

— I'm not calm. ― Laughs Gabriel looking away. ― In fact I felt a great terror just to imagine that scene. But the way you reacted dispersed that, so...

— They'll find out soon enough about us. I don't even want to think about the mess it's gonna be. Probably my parents will know, and if we've been wondering lately, that would be the icing on the cake.

— In fact, I told my mother. ― Laughs Gabriel, especially when Milles turned quickly to you. ― She took it pretty well, even though I couldn't say the same about my father.

― How did he react?

― My mother told me not to comment on anything for now. But she reacted well. Actually, my maternal grandfather and uncle are omega.

Milles had released a "ah" so sighed, that Gabriel could understand the thread of reasoning that accompanied. He had even stifled his laughter in noticing that his friend had understood many of his actions with that simple revelation.

― Talk to them then?

― Not much. My dad doesn't like me visiting. I think the last time I saw them was... when I was about ten. I don't know.

— It'd be nice to talk to someone older. I at least get fucking lost. I don't know what to do, Biel. If every time the captain's name is mentioned and I react like that, they'll find out. Honestly... I'm afraid of what might happen.

— We're lost. But whatever happens, I'll be with you. ― Gabriel had extended his fist to his friend, seeing him smile in the corner and imitate the gesture to exchange a punch ― Friends for any shit.

― Friends for any shit.
