Chapter 10 - Story of the past

Drumming his fingers on the study table, Gabriel pondered without removing his eyes from Theodore's profile in Orkut. He had sent the friend request that until then remained pending, which bothered him.

Gabriel had already taken a look at Sadie's profile, visiting the profile of each person whose last name was Mckenzie. He had found a young and handsome boy who had befriended both Sadie and Theodore. Jake Mckenzie seemed to be handsome, but in Gabriel's eyes he was the embodiment of the devil.

His hair was platinum and had light eyes, being the typical alpha boy that girls would freak out for pure pleasure. At first he had not concluded his disgust with his friend's cousin, but by reading the earliest testimonies in Theodore's profile, disgust had been realized as a universal law.

Well Done!

Who tells you to be

this SWEET PERSON...!!!

I love you!!! ;-)"

The way Sadie had told his earlier, he imagined that Theodore and that Jake might have fought to the point of exchanging punches and swearing enmity eternally. Like two gangs that occupy the same space and fight to demarcate their territory. However, that damn testimony said the opposite.

They were friends.

Very close friends.

― What the fuck.

Throwing his head back, Gabriel closed his eyes trying to control the heat that was rising in his chest. He couldn't imagine anything other than Theodore smiling sweetly at the platinum-haired fellow. A charming smile as he received a caress on his head.

His mind was evil in continuing to imagine the complicity that those two could have. Something of which he was not allowed.

Since arriving at school, Theodore had not let down his guard for Gabriel. Barely accepted as a friend. They could only talk right when they had some work to do. To imagine him smiling so openly to someone else was...

Suffocating.

― What's happening to you, Gabriel? ― He was mumbling the alpha to himself, pinching his forehead with his fingertips ― You're not like that, man.

Yet he could not get rid of that feeling. So much that he went to school the next day in a bad mood. It was the first time his classmates had seen him frown and monosyllabic. Ignoring the invitations to go somewhere or the meaningless conversations about girls and boobs.

Even before class, while sitting at the fountain with his new friends, Gabriel did not look away from the yellowish Tabebuia where a blonde omega was sitting reading. Before he was caught staring at him, he lowered his eyes and sighed low.

― Come on, man, did you get dumped by some girl so you look like you're done?

Unlike he who was down, Milles was all smile. The joy of that small group of friends were the laughs and jokes of the player. Receiving a side hug from the highest, Gabriel had just taken a deep breath lifting his head.

― What makes you think I'd get dumped?

― Uh... You're all shrivelled up like an old ball, want me to sing you a song to sink your depression?

― Get out ― Laugh Gabriel giving a slight nudge in the rib of Milles, making him release the hug ― I'm not depressed because of a girl.

― Your face tells me it is. Suffering for love.

Rolling his eyes and smiling, Gabriel did not respond to the joke. Of course he was not suffering for love... Why would he be? It didn't make sense.

Especially when the cause of all that was not a girl... but a boy.

More precisely, a boy who was a few meters away, sitting under a Tabebuia reading Twilight.

There was no way Gabriel would like another boy.

「 • • • 」

Unfortunately Gabriel was completely unable to forget the matter.

Still, he struggled to keep his smile on his face pretending everything was fine. Either that, or have to put up with Milles talking about getting dumped.

Her anguish was saved to be released at the right time. In volleyball training. Not even the scolding of Nicolas bothered him, quite the contrary, increased his curiosity even more.

Holding the ball under his arm while waiting for the warm-up to end, Gabriel bit his undecided lower lip in going to talk to his captain or not. He felt that if were to question him, he would fight without giving the answer he wanted. But if it wasn't... Well, who else would know?

It was out of the question to question Theodore himself. At least for now.

― Come on, man, you got that face all day.

Startled by the sudden arrival of Milles at his side, Gabriel sighed lowering his head. He was the brother of his friend, probably also knew what happened between Theodore and his cousin... But he was afraid of his reaction if he questioned him. Raising his eyes to stare at the captain again, Gabriel was about to choose who to ask.

Milles had followed his gaze, and had peeked when he noticed Nicolas drawing something on the coach's clipboard.

― Did he do something to you?

― No! ― Gabriel answered immediately. ― Why would he do anything to me?

― The model doorman is a very jealous husband with his wife.

Squinting in frustration, Gabriel stared at his new friend.

― Why do you talk like that?

― What's the matter?

― Wife, husband... they're friends, aren't they?

― Oh.. They're always together and I'm pretty sure little Theo is passive on that beta.

Gabriel had swallowed hard upon realizing that his classmate's sexual orientation was known to Milles. Since his arrival and the moment Theodore had claimed to be gay omega, he had not heard any rumours about it. Especially about why he and Sadie were raided.

Or was he himself who wouldn't have known about the whole school knowing about it?

Noticing his friend's silence, Milles was surprised to see him pale.

― Will you tell me that you did not know this? ― Gabriel just raised his eyes to the friend, who soon continued. ― I thought my sister had told.

Gabriel immediately raised his shoulders before the chance that shone for him. Squeezing the ball in his hands, he approached Milles' ear to whisper to him.

― She only asked me to stay away from Theodore because she didn't want me to repeat what happened to her cousin.

It was Milles' turn to turn pale. Being so close to the player, Gabriel noticed his jaw getting tense. His reaction only increased his curiosity, making him question how much should insist on the subject. To his luck, and surprise, Milles himself had answered him.

― And she didn't tell you what happened?

― No. She said I didn't need to know. But I have no reason not to be friendly with Theodore.

― We have.

— That doesn't apply to me, Milles. That's what I mean. Theodore has always been a nice guy to me, there's no reason why I hate him the way your sister wants.

Gabriel's elbow had been held by the highest, then tightened.

― She's just worried about you, man. We know people like Theodore suck.

― You'll have to be clearer if you want to convince me of that.

The two boys exchanged glances until Milles sighed defeated. Pulling Gabriel to a far corner, he soon secreted him.

― Theodore was in heat with my cousin at his house.

For the second time Gabriel had turned pale, his whole body had become as solid as stone before such a confession. He couldn't imagine the blond boy in bed with anyone, Theodore seemed too kind for that... or too innocent.

But the intimate words of that testimony on Orkut haunted his memory. To rule out the possibility that the two of them were close enough to sleep together would be stupid...

― What do you mean??

— The two had sex. My uncle ended up arriving on time and gave the biggest mess. All I know is after that my cousin got emancipated and moved to state capital. My father forbade me and my sister to ask how Jake's doing.

Jake.

The profile he saw the night before shone in his mind. His intuition was correct about the boy. It was he who had caused the discord between Theodore and Sadie. The bitter taste appeared in his mouth, with Gabriel making a face at the sudden nervousness that arose.

— I know it's pretty gross, man. But believe me, Theodore was responsible for the fight between my cousin and uncle. And I liked that guy, he was fucking good. ― Tapping Gabriel on the shoulder, Milles gave him a comforting smile ― I know you're cool and want to be friends with the guys here. But my sister's advice is valid, stay away from Theodore if you don't want to become the next victim.

Left alone in the corner, Gabriel closed his eyes for a moment. He was already surprised when Theodore told him, to his face, about being omega and gay, and had had a long night of thinking to the point of ignoring such information. After all, he had received your help because Theodore was kind, not because he had ulterior motives with him.

But now things had changed.

Gabriel had been angry.

And it wasn't because Theodore was gay.

But the reason was still a secret.
