Chapter 34 - horror story

Vincent pushed Astrid backwards and hurriedly stood up from their seat and then he speedily rotated himself together with Astrid and when they both exchanged their positions and he pressed Astrid onto their seat and covered her body with his own body.

"Quickly Shields up…"

"Protect her Ladyship"

BOOOOOM… BOOM…

BANGGGG…

Promptly, several ministers from various vessel families ran to the forefront in alarm and took over the helm of this chaos in order to calm the turmoil, while some of the ministers joined together and built a large shield around the throne area to block the terrible influx of destruction from the blasts.

Also by this time, Armond had already ran over to the throne area while carrying an injured solider on his back with many wounded knights on his tail, who were barely able to support themselves or hold on to their conscience, and as soon as they reached within the safety of the shield, they fell down and the shield completely sealed itself, but there were some people who were still stuck outside the shield and they knocked their hands and feet aggressively onto the shield, though soon only their corpses remained in their protest as the people who remained outside the shield were blown into smithereens in the consecutive blasts…

Alas, only some painful wailing and moaning could be heard in this place as nothing could be seen through the shield which became painted with debris mixed in blood and bones.

BEEP… BEEP…

BEEEEPPPP…

Silence, it was as if the entire world fell into a giant bubble of gloom and silence… Astrid heaved in a deep breathe from her nostrils, but she couldn't even listen to the sound of her own breathing… she could only smell different putrid odors mixed together with overwhelming smell of rot and rust. She tried with difficulty to slowly open her eyes, only to look at the man who protected her just now without a tinge hesitation. Somewhere, her long frozen heart unknowingly skipped a beat.

Astrid gently raised her hands and took away them away as they tightly hugged the broad back of the man who was stationed on top of her… to protect her…. her head was still buzzing from the impact of that first blast that occurred just now, but slowly her senses calmed down and she stared at her hands which were dyed in bright red. It was his blood…

"Are you okay?" Astrid softly asked the man.

"I am fine." Vincent breathed a reply in a low voice, currently, his dark eyes intensely looking at her, though she was still unable to read the thoughts that contained in his clear yet obscure gaze.

Seeing that she was doing fine, Vincent didn't continue to look at her and shifted his gaze to look around them with vigilance and inquiry.

When Astrid saw him shifting his gaze, she internally breathed a sigh of relief… she also moved her eyes away from him and looked at the ball room which once sang in glory now turned into a horror story. Horrid Black and red blood intertwined, flowing like water on the floor, its color even colored the walls. Her heart pounded in shock but this wasn't the first time she was seeing so much blood with so many corpses…
