Chapter 8 - Chapter VIII

I took a deep breath as I watched Princess Arabella and Grand Prince Elijah talking at each other. His soft loving gaze towards her just says it all. I could see how the Grand Prince looked so attentive as the princess kept on talking, as if she's the center of the world and she only matters to him, everything else are nothing.

Well, she's indeed the center of this world because after all, she's the main character… and if course, the character that I adored the most.

Looking at them, if Grand Prince Elijah wasn't the main villain of the story and if he's not really that rotten evil for killing his brother in the future chapter, I could really see that he's indeed looked good beside Princess Arabella.

My eyes widened and I gasped in silence when I realized my own thoughts. I shook my head in utter disapproval and coughed silently behind my gloved hand. I don't ship this evil dude on my favorite princess! Princess Arabella will forever be with Prince Lucien. I won't let her ve with this evil guy Elijah! Over my dead body! Hmph.

"Oh, Princess Ariah!"

I turned my head and saw three ladies walking towards me, approaching me. I don't know any of them but I could only recognize they have different color of their hairs. One of them is blonde and she really did match with her beautiful red dress. The other one is brunette and she also matched with her beautiful emerald-colored dress, and the other one is a redhead and she indeed looked good with her bluish gown as well.

"It's been a while since we last saw you!" Blondie told me.

"Hello," I slightly nodded in response, letting them see my slightly confused look. "I apologized. I don't really… recognize you and… I really don't know your names."

It's true though. I haven't really read them in the novel. I knew they're extra characters the author just unnamed.

"The news about your memory loss is indeed true. We are indeed saddened about what happened to you, Your Highness. But we are also happy that you are safe," the brunette said.

I guess my "amnesia situation" of an excuse is indeed executed into good use because in all honesty, I really didn't know any of these girls. For real.

"Thank you for all of your concerns. I really appreciate it." I smiled.

"You have no idea how Grand Prince Elijah almost went bonkers when he knew you got caught in the accident," the redhead butted in. "She really treasured you so much that's why it's understandable that he investigated the whole situation of your accident, Your Highness. He was really worried that time."

Him? Worried about me? I doubt it. More like, he was worried that Princess Ariah will die in such ungodly situation because it might ruin his plan of invading the kingdom, dethroning and killing his brother, and steal Princess Arabella away.

But wait, investigate? But isn't it just an accident I mean, the storm caught the carriage Princess Ariah was riding at that time, right? So, why investigate?

"Because the Grand Prince conducted an investigation, we suspected that it must be someone's doing that caused your accident," the redhead added.

"I do have the feeling that…" Blondie leaned towards me, along with Brunette and Redhead. "Princess Arabella was involved in that accident."

"Say what?" I couldn't help but ask.

"Remember how she manipulated her way to the throne that was supposed to be yours? You were supposed to be the crown princess, the next heir to the throne. She may looked like an angel sent from above but who knows what she's hiding up her sleeves. There's no doubt that she might be the one behind the accident that almost killed you."

Redhead slightly pointed at my sister and Grand Prince Elijah. "Just look at her go. Robbing His Highness' attention that was supposed to be yours."

"Remember that Grand Prince Elijah was supposed to marry her but she seduced the Crown Prince which also made herself be his wife and even made it easier for her to inherit the throne." Blondie then looked at me. "She didn't just rob the throne from you. She's also trying to drive His Highness away from you. Such a two-faced lass she is."

"Shut up!" I couldn't help but yell, making these three gasp in utter shock.

I glared at them. I don't know what the fucking lies Princess Ariah fed to these bitchy friends of hers but I just had enough.

I could feel the people around us stopped from what they're doing and I could feel their stares from the back of my head and as much as I don't fancy attention in situations like this, I just don't care anymore.

"Y-Your Highness, what's wrong?"

"I don't know what's our connection in the past but let me remind you that you have no right to talk bad on my sister!" I told them in such firm voice.

They looked at each other in utter confusion and then their gazes went back to me. "Your Highness, you're the ones who told us everything about her. We're just trying to protect you—"

My brows immediately met the moment I heard those words. Dang, this Princess Ariah is so bad that she deadass talked bad things to her sister behind her back. And heck, as someone who did read the novel, I know that everything they've said aren't even true! Princess Arabella was even trying to protect Princess Ariah but the latter was even so stubborn to realize that because she was filled with envy, jealousy, and anger towards her sister until the day she die!

She wanted to ruin their bond as sisters and I'm not here for it!

"I don't know anything about you nor you don't know anything about us, especially my sister, Her Royal Highness. You don't know anything about us and about our lives. I don't remember anything that happened to me in the past but let me tell you this," I said with such serious tone, trying to show them how I stood my ground. "Your accusations and every ill word that you said towards my sister aren't true. None of it. I believe and trust in her because no sibling, especially my sister, will let her sister go through a situation like that. She's the nicest, loving, and kindest person I know and I believe and trust her. Not even any of you can match that. And yes, she's not protecting me because she doesn't need to, to begin with. I can protect the both of us. I CAN PROTECT HER."

I didn't wait for them to say something and I just walked away from them. The moment met Princess Arabella's eyes before my gaze turned to Prince Elijah, one thing that crossed my mind at that moment.

I am going to change everything in this story. I will protect Princess Arabella and keep myself alive even if it means I'm going eye to eye and teeth to teeth with Prince Elijah. I will not let him have the happy ending that he wanted to have.

"I will not allow anyone to harm her."

Not even you, my dear husband.
