Chapter 18 - White-Robed Goblin

They dodged two waves of Goblin patrols.

Lind and Vanessa entered the fourth floor.

On the fourth floor, the surrounding space suddenly became bright.

That was because huge crystals that emitted a white light had appeared around the wall. The crystals were connected by a huge pipe. Relying on these glowing crystals, the fourth underground floor was illuminated as brightly as day.

In front of the crystals was a huge palace.

Although this palace was called a palace, it looked more like a temple.

Lind looked out from the shadows and saw hundreds of Goblins kneeling on the ground with their hands raised as if they were prostrating themselves in the temple. Standing in front of the temple was a Goblin in a white robe. It raised its staff and muttered something that Lind couldn't understand.

"Guajiguaji. Kawakado…"

The white-robed Goblin's voice was extremely high-pitched, as if it had the power to bewitch people. Even Lind, who clearly could not understand its words, seemed to be affected by its voice. An urge to worship it appeared in his heart.

Vanessa, on the other hand, was a little distracted by the white-robed Goblin's voice. She stared blankly at the temple.

"Vanessa!"

Lind shouted.

His voice seemed to pull Vanessa's soul back to her. She shuddered and her expression returned to normal.

"Mr. Ander, what just happened to me?" Vanessa asked Lind with a wry smile.

Lind looked at the temple in front of him and said firmly, "If my guess is correct, this white-robed Goblin's voice should have some kind of mental attack."

Mental magic was also a type of magic. However, this kind of magic was special. It could be used without learning.

This was because everyone had mental strength. It was just a difference in amount. When mages used magic, they used mental strength to mobilize the elemental power in their surroundings.

In other words, mages could also use their mental strength to attack directly.

This kind of magic was called mental magic.

However, mental magic was extremely dangerous to mages because such an attack was equivalent to a suicidal attack.

Using your own mental strength to attack your opponent's mental strength. It would be fine if your mental strength was greater than your opponent's mental strength.

However, if your mental strength was less than your opponent's mental strength, then attacking your opponent with mental strength was equivalent to suicide.

At the very least, your mind would be severely injured and you would need to recuperate for a few years. During this period, your magic power would also regress.

In the worst case, you would be mentally paralyzed and become demented. You might even become a vegetable.

No mage would easily use their mental strength to attack their opponents.

However, this white-robed Goblin was quite skilled in the use of mental strength.

This Goblin's mental power attack was very gentle, and its effect was not to severely injure others.

Instead, it was bewitchment and inducement!

Lind was extremely shocked.

An undeniable fact appeared before his eyes.

The white-robed Goblin had completely surpassed human mages in the field of mental magic.

This surpassing did not mean that the white-robed Goblin was strong or that its mental strength was huge. Instead, it meant that its use of mental magic had reached a peak.

Using fireballs to create explosions didn't mean that one's use of fire was superb.

Compared to that, it was obvious that controlling flames to form a puppet to dance would show the user's exquisite control over flames.

The white-robed Goblin was doing the latter.

Its control over mental magic was even gentler.

However, this also proved that its control over mental magic was even more exquisite.

Why did a group of Goblins have such profound attainments in mental magic?

Lind thought of the Goblin God.

Was this power related to that ball of light?

"Has such a situation ever happened in your intelligence?"

Lind looked at Vanessa and asked.

He could tell from Vanessa's stunned expression that the appearance of the white-robed Goblin seemed a little unexpected.

Vanessa bit her lip under the black veil. She shook her head with a serious expression and said, "No, this is the first time I've seen such a Goblin."

A mocking expression appeared on Lind's face.

"It seems that this is the first time our Miss Assassin has encountered such a goblin."

He returned Vanessa's mockery to her.

Vanessa cursed the petty man inwardly at Lind's words. Then she asked, "What do we do next?"

Lind said, "Things have changed. The best way is to retreat."

Lind was not afraid of these Goblins.

However, the current situation had clearly exceeded Vanessa's control.

Lind was not confident that he could complete the mission without using Blood Magic.

If he used Blood Magic, he would be in danger of exposing his identity.

But Vanessa shook her head and said, "No, we can't retreat!"

"Why not?"

"Have you forgotten the Goblins we killed when we came in? There are more Goblins on the surface. The shift will change soon. They will realize that their companions are dead and will definitely increase their vigilance. It will be very difficult for us to carry out the mission again. If we want to complete the mission, we can only continue forward."

At this point, Vanessa still had no intention of giving up on the mission.

Since his companion was so stubborn, Lind could only spread his hands and say, "Alright, I'll listen to you. Let's continue."

Usually, when faced with such a situation, Lind would choose to turn around and leave.

But now, Lind was filled with curiosity about the white-robed Goblin.

This seemingly sophisticated mental spell made Lind want to explore.

And compared to Vanessa, he didn't need to worry about his own safety at all.

As long as he could use Blood Magic, these Goblins could not stop him.

As for exposing his identity…

Now there were only him and Vanessa in the cave.

Even if his identity was exposed, as long as he killed Vanessa, no one would know that he was a vampire.

As he watched Vanessa fumble forward, Lind's eyes were cold.

For some reason, after transforming into a vampire, Lind felt much more cold-blooded.

As a creature with almost eternal life, Lind's attitude towards the lives of humans had become extremely cold.

Perhaps it was the memories of the original host that were subtly affecting him.

Lind didn't know if this was a good thing or a bad thing.

He could only hope that he would not be forced to use Blood Magic next.

Otherwise, in order to ensure his own safety, he would definitely kill Vanessa.
