Chapter 8 - Kalaini

Lucas slowly got up, 'damn, that hurts' He put his hand on his head. He felt something wrapped around his head, he quickly opened his eyes and gasped. 'What is that?' he thought as he tried to touch it with his fingers.

It was wrapped tightly around his head and it felt a little uncomfortable when he touched it with his fingers. He lowered his hands and looked at it. His skin looked as if it had been burnt by fire and it felt sensitive.

Every touch caused him a burning sensation, "what happened?" he asked himself.

"Oh, you are finally awake." A woman with a cold voice entered his room.

"Who, who are you?" Lucas felt lost for a moment when he saw a beautiful woman enter his room.

"You can thank the Master later for treating you." She replied with an attitude.

She folded her arms and stood next to a large green wall. Lucas searched the place with his eyes and saw that he was in a strange place he had never been before.

The walls here were dark blue and another part was in colour green, the ceiling was black, it looked weak and Lucas thought it might collapse at any moment.

There were five more metal beds that reminded him of the 80s where his parents had lived. The beds made squeaking noises with every movement Lucas made.

"I'll get right to the point: who are you and your friend? And what are you two doing here?" She gave him a cold look.

'Kali! Lucas shouted in his head as he turned his head away to look for her as if she were in the room.

"Kali, where is she?" Lucas' tone sounded concerned.

"Relax, she's fine." The woman waved a hand as if there was nothing to worry about.

"Where is she?" Lucas aggressively repeated his question. He was genuinely worried about her, since he was the reason she had been dragged here in the first place.

"You are not very patient, are you?" She spoke again. "Hello, my name is this and that, I come from here and there. You do not seem to have any manners, kid." She made fun of him, insulting him lightly.

"Listen, I do not care about your manners or your culture, but I need to find Kali!" He shouted at her and tried to jump out of bed. 'Damn it!" a sharp pain blessed his feet.

He did not have much time to look around and observe his own body. When this strange woman mentioned Kali's name, that was the only thing that interested him.

She had been defeated by this strange-looking person, but so had he, apart from the fact that at least he knew he was still alive and Kali was nowhere to be seen at the moment.

"Relax, it will take about two days for your wounds to heal." She sighed and rolled her eyes.

"Heal what? What happened to me?" Lucas asked her.

"Another attack by another mage master, nothing new." She yawned.

"Nothing new?" That set Lucas on edge. "Nothing new? Me and Kali were defeated by him, what do you mean nothing new?" He raised his voice to show her his displeasure.

"Blah, blah, blah." She mocked him.

'What is her problem?' asked Lucas silently

"Look, I don't have time to waste here, so please let me see Kali." He calmed down a little.

He remembered the last time he'd seen her change back into her human form and the system had announced that she no longer had any abilities, he wondered if she'd be like that now?

"Lucas, I'm here." Kali entered the room with a smile on her face.

"Kali..." Lucas froze for a moment when he saw that his crush had flaky skin. Her perfect white skin, as soft as cotton, looked like the leather of a lizard on her face

Her long silver hair was covered with feathers, her human beauty was gone, but her smile shone brighter than the sun's.

"Please, don't mention it. I look ugly." Kali's smile vanished instantly.

She put her hands on her face and tried to hide it from Lucas.

"No, Kali! You're alive!" He took a deep breath to calm himself.

He didn't care what she looked like, her personality was more than enough for him to like her.

She was the prettiest girl in the school, and she could think she was above everyone, but she paid attention to him. To his miserable personality. He was in the shadow of the school until she bumped into him.

Lucas was holding a familiar manga, and he was surprised Kali knew what it was. Ever since they'd struck up a conversation and she'd asked him out, her looks no longer mattered to him, it was her personality that took his breath away.

"Okay, are you two done now?" The lady with blue hair spoke harshly, she looked annoyed.

"Do you have to act like such a bit*h?" Lucas forgot for a moment that he was not online.

The lady smiled, "you have guts child calling me a bitch, what is your ability to be so arrogant?" She asked and the corners of her lips lowered.

"My ability? The fu*k?" He was confused.

"Lucas! Can not you be nice? She helped us." Kali tried to calm him down.

Kali's eyes widened, she looked him straight in the eye and spoke again in her soft voice, "Please." She whispered.

Lucas heaved a deep sigh, "Okay, Kali, but can she at least introduce herself?"

"You are human." She spoke loudly, looking down at him.

That made Lucas angry again, 'seriously, what's wrong with her?'

"So what? Do you want to eat me?" He spoke in his sarcastic tone.

"I like your confidence kid, those pills must have really gotten to you." She made another sarcastic remark about him.

'How does she know about pills?" he was confused. "Who are you?"

"I am a former wizard myself, boy. I may look younger than you, but I am three hundred years old." She looked at Kali.

"Holy cow, you look good!" That came out of Kali's mouth all of a sudden.

"Thank you." She replied and grinned at her.

In Kali's eyes, she was like a real girl crush. She had long blue hair with a fringe in the front and two little bunts that made her look like a sailor's moon. Her body was also fantastic, like every woman's dream.

She was not too tall, but not too short either.

Considering her fashion sense, which Kali liked the most, she was like a goddess in her eyes. 'I want to be like her.' She thought to herself and turned back to Lucas who just had a shocked and surprised look on his face

His eyes widened and his jaw dropped when he heard her age.

"So you do not want to die?" Lucas' question was rude.

"No, I am dying and coming back, this is my 100th attempt to win."

"To win what?" Lucas and Kali asked at the same time.

"To win an exit from here." She sighed and looked at the ground

Her expression said 'defeated and tired'

"What are you talking about? To gain an exit from here? What is this place? Who are you?" Lucas started asking her too many questions again.

"You do not know what this place is?" She asked her.

"No!" they both answered at the same time.

"Well, you will soon. There's no exit here." She smiled, trying to look strong, but her voice sounded exhausted.

"What happens if you die here?" Kali interrupted her.

"Then you are stuck here with me." Her answer came quickly.

"What do you mean by stuck? Like, never getting away?" Lucas' muscle tension had increased, a strange feeling of dread spreading through his stomach

He felt dizzy, his eyes blurred, "Impossible, we are stuck here forever?" his whole body stiffened with fear again. His shoulders clenched and he slowly looked back at her.

"How do we get out of here?" His voice trembled.

"Finish the missions without five failures and you are out." She looked at the door as someone entered.

"Kalaini, there you are."
