**Red Light/Green Light**
When Betty Red walked in the house she looked like a wrestler. She was built wide like a body builder and was as strong as a bull, but barren. Betty was destined to never have kids and plenty of Werewolf clans rejected her because a barren female could not increase their numbers and in their world there was strength in numbers. Not Penny. She welcomed Betty because she did not need numbers. She had a grandson, Mike, who hated kids and she needed her for him.
Betty walked to the den where Mitch had joined his wife. "Hey family," Betty said as she hugged them both. "Tonight, I'm taking my boat out. Ya'll want to sail on the bay tonight with us? It will be so romantic, even though β no moon."
"You see I got them pups tonight." Penny talked about the smaller grandchildren that were in the house.
"Can I drive the boat?" Mitch asked her this every month.
"No dad, that's why I pay the old white man," Betty peeked out the den doorway and looked around to see if any of the children close, none. "Is daddy Samuel still coming down here?"
"Not until the 4th of July." Penny did not like her father-in-law. "What you need with his old ass?"
"Well," Betty dropped her head and let out a big sigh. "My grandfather called for him this morning."
"Why? They hate each other." Mitch asked because, his father Samuel, and Betty's grandfather had old country bad blood. They had many fights as young wolfs and both were retired Warlords: the Werewolf version of Mosad.
"How is old Joseph?"
Penny shook her head and thought of the old big gray wolf from Denmark. Betty's grandfather lived as a recluse in the mountains. He had summoned Penny to run with him before Betty could move to the United State, just to be sure of her strength and courage. That required Penny to moon chase with the big gray wolf during a full moon. Joseph could not keep up with her during the run and he okay's Betty's marriage to Mike.
"My grandfather said to tell Samuel to sharpen his spear." Her grandfather was a Warlord and always ready to fight. "They found a bear hanging from a tree with all it organs and skin removed last night."
"What did you say?" Penny sat forward. This news was trouble.
"Well, how the fuck they do that?" Mitch asked because it was damn near impossible to kill a Werebear. They were massive creatures, and it took two Werewolf's to kill one Werebear.
Betty dug through her purse for her phone. "It was a Berserker, a transformed Berserker! My poppa was wondering had anything like that happened over here? Or West Africa?" She shows Penny the pictures on her phone.
Penny's ears grew hot as her anger levels was reaching a tipping point. "No, I haven't heard anything and my sister haven't called about anything like this. I don't like this Betty, they killed a Berserker?" Penny swiped through the pictures. "How the fuck did they do this?"
"What about France and Iran? No? Nothing?" Betty asked of the three other places where animal attacked in large numbers were recorded in history.
"Nope." Mitch said and reached for the phone. "Let me see that?"
Betty smiled to herself. "Grand pop took those picture with that cell phone I sent him, he get a kick out of googleing himself. He even watches 'Viking' that show and sent them emails to the producers correcting everything they got wrong about his father. But this has him ready for war."
"He still in that cave?" Mitch asked and handed the phone back to her.
"He tricked it out and got him a girlfriend. Some crazy lady who thinks she a herbalist witch, but she just crazy."
"Dead bears in Denmark? What that got to do with us?" Mitch asked because the pictures of a dead Bereskirker hung up upside down with it skin on the floor and its head and body cut open like a slab in a butcher's shop frightened him.
"How much a female berserkers weight? This is a female right?" Penny questioned.
"They weigh over 600 pounds." Betty replied trying to shield her fear. "I'm going to fly out there for a bit. I need to check some things out, see who hurting my people."
"You're a wolf not a bear." Penny told her. She did not like the bear kind cousins but she tolerated them because they had purpose.
"Momma Penny you know where I'm from: it's interchangeable. Hey Pop's can you watch my guinea pigs for me while I go back home?"
Mitch smiled, "Oh yeah, yeah I like those things. You know I can understand them right?"
Betty shook her head no. "You can, really? So, can you figure out why they won't mate? Heck, are they like me. Eggs don't work."
"But your claws and fangs do." Penny gave her a wink. "That's what counts."
"You may have to call your sister on this Penny. Baby, I'm serious: gone call, Nickel." Mitch brought up the subject Penny did not like to talk about: her oldest sister Nickel.
"No." Penny refused to reach out to her more powerful sibling, the woman who gave her rule. "I'll call the other two."
"You think maybe someone paid a death gang to do this? Like those obnoxious ones in the O'Mally squad?" Betty wondered if the Werewolf death squads were responsible for the murder of the Werebear.
"What death squad would go killing on Ragnod's lands? Only My father was that brave." Mitch got up, kissed Penny's forehead and left the room. His wife was the ruler; she didn't need him for this.
Penny video phoned her two other sisters. They were a set of triplets, but they were not raised together. Each girl was raised in foster care and did not know about each other until they were 17 and 24. One sister, Nicol, lived in Pittsburgh and rule the middle parts of the America's. The other sister, Nashar, lived in Colorado and ruled everything up and down the Pacific, all separate but equally.
"Hey, I know it's early for you Nicol but this is important."
"I haven't slept in three days. My son is giving me hives from stress."
"We don't get hives." Nicol told her.
"Then the mange?" Nashar Dime hair was in a messy bun on top of her head and she was scratching it relentlessly.
Penny flipped her screen around. "This here is my grandbaby Mike's wife, Betty. Remember? She's from the Ragnod's." Penny said proudly while pulled her into frame. "I gonna send you a few pictures, because something killed a Berserker back there. I'm sending them now."
Nashar Dime started at her phone and her eyes got big. "What in the sheer fuck?"
Nicol Quarters was brushing her teeth and had to yell down into phone. "Tell me what is it?" she spat out toothpaste.
"It's a gutation! Is that the skin? What okay? Is that a fucking 'Candy Man' ass hook."
"A what, on a what?" Nicol rushed to grab her phone and starred in disbelief. "Okay my day is ruined."
