I reappear in a small room with a fire, which I call a safe place or a safe zone. So, I take the opportunity to drink and eat a little before continuing. On the other side of the small room is a shimmering and strange whirlpool, probably the exit. I check that I am ready before entering this whirlpool. I arrive in a small stone corridor lit by torches. At the end is a large room with a small mountain of rocks in the center. Once inside the room, the corridor behind me disappears, blocked by a stone wall. The room is very well lit, so I leave my torch on the ground to take my musket with both hands. I try to go around the mountain to look behind it and I see a large red glowing door. I must be in the boss room, I think, seeing the color of the door.
As I approach a little, part of the mountain starts to move and straighten up. A few moments later, a medium-sized monster stands on top of the mountain and looks in my direction as if it is looking for me. I don't move and I observe it. The monster is completely made of stone. It has no eyes, but has a huge mouth. It is stocky and its limbs are short. It almost looks like an earth elemental, but not quite. I think it's an Umbritusk, a kind of small cousin of the earth elemental, but much less powerful. If I remember correctly from the information found in one of the books I read, it should be able to summon small versions of itself using the surrounding rocks and attack by biting or rolling down its mountain.
I try to use the psionic attack skill, but nothing happens. The creature doesn't react and is still searching for me. I believe it perceives its environment through vibrations since it doesn't have eyes. To test my theory, I slowly pick up a small rock from the ground and toss it far away. The creature turns and howls as it rolls towards where the rock landed. Seeing that nothing is there, it stops and makes some movements with its small arms. Four rocks start to shake and transform into miniatures of itself. They stand up and walk blindly, trying to find me. I take advantage of the fact that they can't see me and aim for the boss. Bam! The shot creates vibrations on the ground, causing all the monsters to rush towards me. The boss is hit in the head, but only a few rock fragments explode. It will take a few more shots to kill it. As the little rock summons arrive, I activate shadow stealth and move further away, creating no vibrations on my path. The creatures arrive at my previous location and can't find me, which angers them a little.
I recharge while the monsters wander blindly, never losing sight of the boss. I shoot and repeat the same pattern. When my mana is low, I wait until it's full and continue afterwards. The boss is more resilient than expected.
After shooting it more than sixty times, it finally collapses, and its summons turn back into stone. I go to its body to skin it, but all I find is rock with a medium energy crystal. I take it and head towards the blue-colored door at the back. I open the door, revealing a small room with a shelf, a large chest, and a yellow portal in the shape of a door. On the shelf, there's a small sign with the following message:
"Choose only one reward or none shall you have."
I open the chest and find: a very large cane filled with ash; a green-brown headband; a pot of black ink; a copper bracelet; a small mace with golden spikes; a pack of nine candles; five burnt orange flowers; a large pair of dice; a spruce wood toy; a dark gold box; a blue steel flute and finally a large rolled parchment.
Having no idea what to take since most of the items have unknown uses, I decide between one of the equipment, the gold box, or the parchment. I finally decided to take the parchment, maybe it will contain useful information or a treasure map! I take the portal and return to the classroom. The teacher congratulates me on passing the dungeon, once again. I ask him if other students have passed it and he tells me that about half of them have, which surprises me a little, but that's good, it's more fun if everyone evolves and becomes stronger. Aurellius tells me that I can leave the class since I have finished the dungeon.
I return to my room to relax a little, look at the parchment and open my status window. The parchment is a skill page, if I concentrate, I can learn the skill written on it, but only if my profession allows it! The skill written on it is: "Concentration, the user is able to stay focused despite a disturbing environment."
That's going to be useful for sure. I then open my status window:
