Chapter 8 - dinner party

As the doors were opened she was greeted by the sight of Alexander sitting elegantly on the plush couch with one of his legs crossed over the other and him furiously typing on his phone. How can someone be so perfect she thought not realizing she had been staring for too long.

"you want a picture?" Alexander said as he turned to look at her.

"I'm, no I just.. um when did you return?"

"aren't I suppose to return to MY house" he stated emphasizing the my clear enough for her to hear.

"I was just surprised" Melody said as she tried to rack her brain for something quick. why the hell was she staring, well when someone looked like a demigod you are sure to stop and stare, so technically it was his fault she agreed inwardly.

"we re invited over for dinner party at the Michelson mansion by six so you ought to dress up on time". he said snapping her out of her thoughts.

"I see, I'll be on time then"

"of course you will" he said as he made his way towards the stairs that lead to his room.

........

it was already half past five when Rosa and mercy came in for her make over, they had helped her with her bath, had her nails and hair done, and where currently helping with her makeup.

"what color of dress would you like to wear young madam, do you have anything in particular you'd like to choose" asked Rosa.

" I'll just go with what you choose" said Melody as she raised her head slightly for mercy to apply some lipgloss on her lips.

" alright then I think this dress would do" she said as she brought out a peach off-shoulder gown with runestones decked from the chest area to the waist which had a corset then the rest of the gown flowing down to the ground.

"come on let's get you dressed up you wouldn't want to be late, young master would be mad".

As Rosa and Mercy helped her into the gown she thought about the amount of dollars spent on it, it would have costed millions. when she had fitted into the gown and had put on her shoes she took one last glance at the mirror and blushed a little at her reflection. The gown had hugged her curves and emphasized her little waist because of the corset. she looked like a million bucks.

Alexander had checked his watch for the fifth time this evening, he knew it!, women were always never in time for anything, what kind of makeup had she been putting in for two hours, two freaking hours for goodness sake but all this thoughts disappeared when he looked up to the soft clicking of her shoes and the peach dress she wore, she looked like a goddess. Was she always this beautiful? he couldn't say but at this moment he couldn't take his eyes off her, he was literally starstruck but snapped back to reality when she heard her slight clearing of throat.

" I'm sorry for making you wait" said Melody as he kept on staring at her.

" I didn't wait for too long" he said shocking all the servants around because they knew that young master never waits for anything and here he waited for almost fifteen minutes, he was lying!. He took her hand and led her out side, opened the door of the car and got in. After the chauffeur had closed the doors and the engines started, Alexander found himself unconsciously staring at Melody, her dark thick lashes that fluttered at intervals when she blinked, her plum lips that had a tint of pink, then down to her exposed collar bones, his mind wandered how it would feel against his lips.

"we're here young master and madam" the chauffeur announced.

What the actual fuck just happened just now. it was a freaking twenty minutes drive and all he did was entertain dirty thoughts. "focus Alex" he said inwardly as he straightened up.

Hand in hand they made their way towards the mansion doors.

"well here goes nothing" Melody mumbled as the doors opened.

"ah here they are, how was the drive?" asked Jenelle as she made her way to them with a smile of her face hugging them both.

"it was alright mom" replied Alexander with his usual poker face.

" how was your journey dear" she asked Melody.

" it was alright thank you"

" there's no need to be formal with me, I'm your mother now dear, come on come sit with me" Janelle said as she tugged Melody towards a table with three other ladies.

"you all, this is Melody Michelson and Melody this is Lorrie, Penelope and Lidia.

"good to meet you dear, oh wow she's such a pretty one"Penelope stated.

"but of course Alexander wouldn't go for less"said Lorrie

"she's pretty though" said Lidia even though Melody could see the sweet smile on Lidia's face she could tell it was fake and Lidia didn't really seem to like her. All she got even from the little words she spoke were red flags.

Melody replied to their greetings with a smile and looked around unconsciously looking for Alexander.

"she's already looking around for her husband I see" giggled Penelope as she looked at Melody whose cheek had already flushed red from embarrassment.

" there no need to be shy about it we all care for our husbands" stated Janelle who smiled at her.

why was she looking for Alexander Melody thought, they had been in the car together where she could hardly sit still. She could feel his gaze burning through her soul all through the ride. She suddenly remembered the way he had looked at her as she walked down the stairs, it made her cheeks burn and her body tingle. what was wrong with her she thought.

Still looking around, she caught sight of Alexander talking to a group of men, even in the midst of them all his majestic aura couldn't be hidden he stood tall and majestic. He then turned around when a red haired lady walked towards him and for the first time since they were married Alexander had a smile on his face, all though he looked dazzling, she felt a clench in her heart.

Then suddenly Alexander turned to look at her and they both made their way to her table.

"Alex is here also, how are you doing today" asked Penelope.

"I'm doing quite well aunty pen" he replied.

"Emma how are you doing today, you look quite lovely this evening" said Lorrie

"but of course my daughter is such a beauty she would sparkle in any clothing" said Lidia with a bright smile on her face.

"oh, mother stop you're embarrassing me" blushed Emma as her cheeks turned slightly red.

"oh but it's the truth, come on look if only Alex was not married you both look so good together" sighed Lidia making the atmosphere suddenly awkward around them.

And at that moment Melody knew why she had gotten red flags from Lidia, her daughter Emma likes Alexander, it was too obvious with the way she blushed at every complement, or they way her eyes kept on darting towards Alexander who busied himself with the wine glass in-between his fingers.

"why did you have to stand that far your wife must have been missing you" pouted Janelle as she tried to ease the awkward atmosphere.

"that's why I came over and besides Emma wanted to say hello"

"hello I'm Emma xander's best friend I've known him for years, I hope we can be friends" she smiled as she stretched her hand forward for a handshake.

Xander? why the hell was she calling him so intimately and most importantly why did she even care.

"nice to meet you I'm Melody his wife, I hope the same" she said with her sweetest smile, well two can play at that game.

"come on sit, let's eat you must be hungry dear" Jenelle said as the waiters brought in dishes for them.

While Melody ate she noticed how at every interval Emma tried to spike a conversation with Alexander talking about something Alexander bought her or his preferences. it was like Emma was trying to make her know that she knew that Melody knew nothing about Alexander and had all his attention.

Consumed with a burning feeling in her chest she excused herself from the table to go to the wash room for a moment. Getting in she turned on the tap and washed her hands then drying it with some paper towel, she looked at her reflection on the mirror. why did she feel this way, they had only been married for just a month. Then that's when the thought hit her, could she be in love with Alexander, she couldn't she thought, no this can not be happening. Taking deep breaths she turned of the tap, took one more look at herself before exiting the was room.

Walking down the corridor her partway was suddenly blocked by Emma, and just what did she think she was doing?

"Get out of his life you bitch" she threatened.
