Immediately Zakariah walked out all angry and with threats of destroying the one thing he cared about, drawing. Destroying his tools was something he would not forgive him for if he did like he said.
LSR sighed and gazed down at his leg, it was truly damaged for real?
But what happened exactly?
It all happened so fast and within a twinkle of an eye, he was a disabled person.
Zakariah said there was hope and he should believe, should he believe his brother's words?
But how can he do that when his brother does not even want to appreciate him as a person? The words of that kind of person, he should not believe in it.
A young nurse who stepped in gained his attention and drew his mind away from his thoughts. The young brunette was dressed in the hospital blue nursing uniform and in her hand was a big log book.
He watched her as she walked closer to him. " Hi" she smiled. " Your brother said you are awake"
He returned her smile with a faint one " Yes, I am awake" he simply replied her words.
The smile on her face broadened as if it was a news her had been waiting for. She moved to beside him and examined the drip that was slowly dripping fluids into his system.
He did not even had an idea he was on drip until she did what she did now. He had no idea about a whole lot of things in his life.
" When am I leaving?" He blurted out and when he saw her creased brow, he rephrased " When can I get discharged and leave for home? I mean, I feel better now" he tried to shrug but his shoulders were agents working against him as they refused to move an inch without giving him pains.
" Oh" he watched the nurse's mouth crept into a circular form. " As soon as your bones are healthy enough to be moved" she moved away from the drip and walked to the far end of the bed, explaining to him all along.
His bones does not feel healthy yet. Would that not take forever?
He felt like if he stayed in here one more day, he would suffocate and choke to death. It would no be a suffocation caused by a damp air but by the curiosity that was burning his skin so hard. Harder than the pain of the accident.
" They are healthy, I think I can move if I try. Can you remove this first?" he said motioning for her to remove the cervical collar around his neck.
She understood his gesture and pressed her lips into a thin line and with a hand on her waist.. " I'm sorry Asher" she started like a mother about to scold her son.
Asher, she knew his name. Oh yeah, that was possible.
He would be recorded in the hospital register under his name.
" You suffered a mild concoction to the head, inner injuries which led to you being semi-comatose at first, then you went into a coma and at a time you started bleeding internally too. The hit of the truck also affected your leg and badly damaged it, you are fortunate it did not affect your spine though. So there is hope that after the leg heals, you might be able to walk again following necessary procedures. But for now, you have to remain under close watch by medical practitioners so Mr. Asher, I'm sorry I do not know when you leave the hospital but if your neck feels fine, I can help with the cervical collar" she finished.
All these while she was explaining, he was just looking on at her blinking so much because he knew the summary of her speech was that he was messed up, baldy messed up.
By whom?
Who did this to him?!
Maybe he needed the card the detectives drop and needed to cooperate more now. If there was someone who intentionally did this to him, he would not let them be and would make sure they were caught. That much, he could promise himself.
When the nurse noticed his silence, oblivious to the thoughts going on in his mind, she moved closer to him and.. " Lie down still" she ordered and he immediately did as he was instructed. She placed a hand on the front panel, pinning it down and then slowly, she slid off the back panel from under his neck then, she removed the front panel too. " Done" she smiled again " I was not instructed to do this yet but since you are obviously better now and I can not resist a good looking guy's pleadings so here you go. You're welcome" she said with humor, Telling him he was welcome without him even telling her thanks yet.
He liked her already.
Did she just compliment his good look though?
First time a young lady would speak to him so alluringly and the humor was a plus too.
Maybe this accident was not all that bad after all.
" Try twisting your neck to the left" he heard her order and once again, she disrupted his thoughts.
Without saying a word because the lord knows he was getting shy already, he shifted his neck to the left. She was right, it was painful.
It felt as though he was shifting the stiffest and heaviest object but he had to ignore his pain and do it. He could not embarrass himself in front of her now.
But when he did it, when he had successfully turned his neck to the left-hand side, it got easier to twist it to the right. And then, he repeated the motion on and on with her gently applauding him as he did so until he got tired.
" That was easy, isn't it?" she beamed.
Easy huh?!
Easy for her to say when she wasn't the one who just did the most hardest thing in his life. She was lucky he liked her already, he would have told her to get herself hit by a truck and twist her neck around like a Christmas globe. Then, she would know how easy it was.
" I will be continuingly checking up on you. The doctor will be here too. If you need anything, don't hesitate to tell me" she finalized and walked out the door without waiting for him to say anything once more.
He sighed as he watched her retrieving steps.
He was alone again.
And where the hell was Duncan?!
.
He continued to stare at the hospital ceiling until he got tired. Nothing sucks more than this.
Now, there was privacy to reminisce his thoughts.
His mind traveled to the beginning of that day.
He was drawing and got frustrated then he saw a figure inside burnt haven then he got hit and was into this deep shit.
Detective Cabal said it might be the figure of that new occupants of the house but then, he saw a cat too.
They new owners have a cat as pet perhaps?
But they haven't moved in so, the void in the puzzle was still so big.
There was something missing and fishy about the whole thing and he would make sure to find out whatever that was.
And who could have hit him.
Bang!
The door barged open and then, bulging in with a half-eaten sealed candy bag came Duncan's protruding belly before he stepped in himself. " Oh poor LSR!" He cried as he approached his bed and engaged him in the most suffocating embrace hurting his damaged bones all over.
Duncan's embrace would kill of a newly born baby but Duncan would never take any of it if he was told.
He had laid on his body and had rounded his hands over his neck which just got freed from the collar few moments.
" Oh buddy, I was so scared when I heard" Duncan continued to say. It was either the lad was ignoring the choked gasps that were coming out of LSR's mouth or he hadn't heard them at all because he could barely talk now. His body was burning with painful sensations and he could not even push the damn Duncan away now the way he usually does.
He could only lay still and await the angel of death to take him away as his beloved friend unknowingly drains the little life he had left in him.
" I heard what you did man..!" Duncan continued, now sitting up and finally laying off his body and letting go of his neck.
LSR panted and blew his mouth in and out, gasping for breath.
When Duncan saw his expression, " What's wrong? Do you need help? Do you feel sick again? Do you need the doctor?" He bombarded LSR with questions as he began to shook in fear thinking his friend was convulsing again.
" Yes Duncan, I need help, away from you" LSR spat after successfully taking in a fairly nice dose of air.
His fat friend who had a beach hat on his head and also had his shirt toked into his trousers drew his face into a frown " What do you mean man? Help away from me?" He said, taking LSR's joke serous.
His stature made him have lesser friends and gained him bullies who picked on him so, during talks like when a friend of his wanted to leave or stop being friends with him, he becomes extra sensitive and emotional.
LSR knew all these and was why he stood by him still. He felt like there was little difference between them.
Duncan was a lonely person and so was he.
Managing to raise his hands up a bit, he tapped his forehead and gave a short laugh to ease his friend's fears " When did you become a boring lad who takes jokes to heart? I thought we said we were better than the people of the world who takes jokes seriously huh?" he smirked.
Duncan, whose face was brightening now rolled his eyes and took a bite of his candy and amidst mouthfuls returned his friend's laugh " Then why do you have to sound harsh when you haven't even seen me for weeks now" he sulked.
Weeks?
He has spent weeks in the hospital already?
He had actually thought it was the morning of the next day he arrived.
