Chapter 42 - As It Would Turn Out, All Monsters In This Floor Are Bosses! (4)

[Ding]

[Mission has been complete, skill 'Enhanced Rejuvenation' has evolved into 'Weak Regeneration']

"FINALLY"

I couldn't contain myself and let out a shout full of happiness.

It has been around 45 days since the time i got stabbed, meaning that i have been in this dungeon for almost 4 full months in total.

I had previoulsy though that healing from this injury would be a piece of cake and it would have been had the mission for evolution been anything else!

[Mission: Save a person form a life altering injury.]

After looking at it for a bit i realised that it needed me to heal not only a fatal injury like last time but to also heal the person back to perfect health.

Although these 2 missions might sound similar they are anything but that!

Lets say that a warrior with a missing limb needs healing because he is dying form blood loss, then with the first mission all you had to do is stop the bleeding and help him recover enough blood to live without healing magic.

But in the second mission you would have to recover fully not only his blood but also his missing limb and if that was not difficult enough the strength of the limb must be the same from before the injury.

I also wasn't able to just injure a random animal and then heal it back to health like last time since it woul be far too dangerous to get out of the safe zone like this.

So in the end i just had to sit there, taking out corpses from my inventory for mana and just keep casting the spell until i was back to full health.

You have to remember that 'bronze body' also enhances the organs so it took far longer that what it would have taken for a normal human.

I HAD TO SIT HERE DOING THIS FOR MORE THAN A MONTH!

The only thing i was able to do was think, so my skill 'genius' reached level 10 and 'weak faster thinking' evolved twice reaching 'enhanced faster thinking' and it also leveled up a couple of times.

Genius is the third and final evolution so there is nothing to further evolve but from time to time i get this feeling that should certain conditions be met then there will be a huge change, unfortunatly this fealing is very limited so i can only study it after i get out of this dungeon.

With both these skill increasing figuring out how that head hunter came back from the dead was a piece of cake.

It was a boss perk!

Boss perks refer to cartain abilities that bosses might randomly have, the higher the difficulty of the dungeon the higher chance of this happening.

Here is where the problem becomes obvious, this head hunter was abviously not a boss!

This led me down on 2 different paths as a possible explanation.

First this is an unfortunate coincidence and i am overthinking things.

Second, many if not all monsters have such perks in this dungeon floor.

I realy hoped that i was overthinking things but it took only a couple of seconds to remember the wolf that was able to use magic or the other wolf that was able to hide it's presence.

'Yup, all the monsters in this floor are bosses.'

After i had effectively crushed all my false hopes and dreams in just a couple of seconds i started to go through the list of possible perks that i had read previously and put a mental note to the most dangerous ones.

The most dangerous ones are definitely 'zombie', 'second stand' and 'mindless pursuit'.

Second stand is the perk that injured me heavily, it revives the monster that had this perk after a cartain amount of time, this usualy happenes after a couple of seconds but due to it being inside my inventory it just revived as soon as it got out.

Zombie basicaly makes them live through any injury, exactly like a zombie, the only was to win against this perk is to completely crush the body.

Mindless pursuit, gives the monster the ability to sense your location after it has seen you once, nothing can block it from sensing you and it even has the ability to enter the safe-zone so nowhere is safe.

There are more of them like, 'giant', 'super strength', 'super speed', 'super regeneration', 'magic casting', 'random skill' that can level up like a normal skills but these are way easier to handle.

There are even some that make the bosses weaker like, 'old', 'dumb', 'young' and even 'blind' or 'deaf' which is kind of funny if you thing about it.

There is also another thing that i found out, that head hunter was far too fast.

I had previously fought with it so i had a good grasp on it's speed but the speed it showed during the sneak attack was way faster, like close to 8 or 9 times faster.

This got me thinking so after my condition improved enough to walk around without causing the injury to worsen i tried to find out the cause of such a huge increase of speed.

...At least this was what i was telling myself, truth is that this phenomenon was probably caused by having a second, never before seen boss perk which would actualy make a lot of sense in this dungeon but i was so bored that i did it anyway.

As fate would have it i actualy found something that has been bothering me for quite some time.

It used mana to increase it's speed!

In every novel that i had read mana was an omnipotent energy that could make someone crush mountains and split rivers by chaneling it through their body and massively increasing their strength.

One of the first things i did after the system unlocked as to try and use mana on my fist to see how much my strength would increase, the result was a lot of pain and a swollen fist for a couple of days and this is because i used my brain for once and only used a single point of mana.

I though that using mana to boost bodily factions was a no go for this world but both Rose and books mentioned that there exist classes like magic swordman or unique classes that are able to channel mana through their body.

Here is the interesting part though, after some research i found out that only a cartain stat or very rarely some of the stats can increase but almost never all of them can be increased at the same time.

I haven't read anything saying about someone being able to boost all his stats by using mana but at the same time i also haven't read anything that makes this impossible so this is why i wrote 'almost never all of them can be increased at the same time'.

Since i had limited access to such advanced knowledge i gave up for the time being and left it for when i either entered the academy or go to the temple of my goddess.

But since a treasure fell right in my lap it would be a shame not to use it.

As it would turn out mana wasn't supposed to just be channelled blindly through the body but was supposed to be broken up and spread through the body like tiny threads, whose size was many times smaller than even the vains and arteries that move the blood in the body.

After cerefull consideration i finaly made up my mind and named them mana veins so i could put my thoughts in place properly.

Here where the problems come in, first of all i possesses no such thing.

I went ahead and ignored my injury and tried to use mana by copying the mana veins of the head hunter, i had no idea if gluttony could copy this and since i didn't know if this monster is unique or not i couldn't risk losing it for such a dumb reason!

The results of first experiment took about 10 seconds to come out, horible pain in the right hand to which i channeled the mana, reduced speed of said hand and almost tripling in size after swelling.

Every other person would be flabbergasted at such a result but i could be happier, why you may ask? Because there were results that affected my agility, even if negatively!

I never expected that by mimicking a monster, which is not even a humanoid one, i could instantly master using mana to boost agility.

What i was truly afraid of was having no result since that would put me in square one once again but since there is result i can work of it and improve!

This discovery made me think about mana veins as a whole and i came to a conclusion, mana veins should be unique to each person!

It doesn't make sence otherwise, imagine if all that was needed to use mana to boost bodily fanctions was writing down they mana vein network of a person that could do it and then do it yourself, although this thing is complex a mage around level 100 could pull it of in just a couple of days.

Even if the nobility wanted to keep such a thing a secret to keep their power then the peasants would know that the nobles are hidding something since such a huge boost in stats is not difficult to notice if you are not dumb.

So, after almost a month of tinkering around woth my mana veins i came to the natural concusion, figuring this out in a small amount of time is impossible!

It is nothing like i previously though it would be, the veins would only take up to a cartain amount of mana to do their thing so putting huge amounts of mana and crushing a mountain instantly is impossible.

The complexities are also numerous, reaching the biggest agility multiplier possible is like trying to win the lottery 10 times in a row and that is with agility only, if all stats are all like this and they are somehow all conected together then i have no confidence to perfect my mana veins before i reach my late 20s.

Yet again this is all with my current stats an skills, increasing my intelligence and evolving skills like 'faster thinking' will make this thing much faster.

Anyway, for now i will be keeping all monsters and checking them before i use them as a mana source, the goal is that by the time i finish this dungeon i will have collected at the very least a monster of each stat.

I was starting to fell kinda depressed after 4 month of loneliness but after this discovery i am super pumped.

Also although the mana veins of agility, which by the way will be will be their name to make sure i don't mix up which mana vein will be boosting what, are far from complete they are able to double my agility stat.

Although it took a while, i am now ready to hunt down new experimental material with maximum efficiency and vigour!
