"Marry me, and everything I possess will be yours."
Ivanna peeked at the man proposing from the hub of her sights. His face remained dearth of emotions, and he wasn't even down on one knee. Rather, he emerged relaxed as he tended his back on his car. They were in a disclosed niche.
Who proposes in that manner?
The girl he was proposing to didn't appear impressed, she darted disappointedly at his expression before storming off. But not before she whacked his devilish face with her purse.
The shock on his face caused Ivanna to erupt with laughter.
The laughter happened to have been noisy since she found his gaze wandering in her direction. His face immediately stiffened as his eyes found her.
Her bad.
She precipitously vaulted off her seat and made a step to fade away into the crowd. It was nighttime anyway.
But the man didn't seem to want her gone yet as his eyes trailed behind her with a deadly gaze.
Ok, now this is creepy.
She picked her pace and began running. She discontinued when she got to a juncture, the fella's eyes weren't on her anymore. Thankfully. Her eyes scanned the crowd, scouring for someone.
She could remember his instructions for her to remain where she was, and now she couldn't even recognize where that was.
She took a deep breath before releasing it. It felt good to be at home. Being back in the country after a decade felt great.
"Ivanna!"
She stiffened. But she didn't turn around to face the company.
It was her brother. Nicholas.
He stormed nearer to her, his fingers held her from behind and whirled her to face him. "Didn't I tell you not to wander about, what if you got lost?" He said, despite his annoyed expression he made an effort to keep his tone less scarily.
Ivanna fretted with her fingers as she stared at the ground, her hair was tied in two ponytails which descended her face as she leaned her head. "A… a man was after me," Her innocent voice displayed fragility.
Nicholas laid his palm on her head and lifted her face, his eyes narrowed at her as he doubted, "What mischief did you cause this time?"
"I'm not that dumb to intervene in a ridiculous scheme, I just giggled and the man went mad. I bet the real reason he was irritated was at his ineptitude, he couldn't propose to a girl properly." She sanctioned her arms up and folded them with a hint of dignity. But to her dissatisfaction, she only got a tired sigh from her brother in response.
"C'mon," He nudged her, "Let's go, Father must be waiting." He took her hand and led her towards a man who raised a board with their names on it.
It took them an hour and a half to finally get home from the airport, the city was crowded at night. Something Ivanna noticed.
The car slipped into a big Mansion, the house was full-lighted as it shined like daylight.
The car slowly lingered before stopping, the siblings stepped out of it. Few servants were outside waiting for their arrival. This brought a smile to Ivanna's face.
"I can see my baby girl has grown up," A deep-voiced man said. The siblings looked up and sighted their Father. Grin graced their faces and they ran towards him.
"Papa!"
The old man grumbled at how dramatic his children were acting. But still, he opened his arms to receive them.
"I miss you so much, Papa!" And another eye roll from him.
They entered the Mansion and had dinner. They went to bed last after sharing tales of their years in a foreign country.
They chatted happily, unaware of the storm setting somewhere.
___________
Distant from the Pierlot Mansion.
"Fuck, a girl saw me." A man growled as he twirled his chair unhurriedly with a calculative gleam in his eyes. He sat inside a neat room with two men beside him.
"Well, that's unfortunate." A man at his right said. But he wasn't lost in thoughts like the other man contrary to them.
"Yes, unfortunate for her." He closed his eyes briefly and kneaded the spot between his brows. "She must still be at the airport, find her and kill her. I don't need anyone to disrupt my plans."
This didn't surprise the men in the room. Only those close to him knew how cruel he was.
"She isn't worth the risk, Rogue. She might not even recollect what she saw by tomorrow." The man who had been silent, and opposite them, ultimately spoke.
"I do things my way, Marius." Rogue's damped voice quieted Marius.
"What time exactly was she at the airport?" The man on his right asked, his name was Merton.
"Few minutes past eight or so."
Merton nodded and began operating on his computer. After a few minutes of tapping on it, footage emerged. He had hacked into the CCTV of the airport. But it was easy since Quinn's family owned the aerodrome.
"I don't think she's at the airport anymore," Merton hesitated as he watched Ivanna running away from Rogue, then a man arrived and took her towards another man with a raised board before they both slipped into a car and drove off. "She left with a man a few minutes after running into you."
Rogue snorted.
"Since I couldn't get her, I looked into her identity. But the results won't sound good to you,"
"Fucking tell me," He grumbled.
"She's Ivanna Pierlot, the daughter of Peter Pierlot, and the fiancee of your twin brother. She just entered the country after many years of residence abroad." Merton notified. He too was surprised.
But Rogue only snorted. "So? Get rid of her as soon as possible."
"What are you saying?" Marius asked with a cocked brow which revealed distaste rather than surprise. "You can't do that,"
"What if I can? What, You can't do it?" He cocked his brows as he darted between the men, a dangerous smirk on his lips. He shot Merton a look, and Merton departed the room. Leaving just him and Marius.
"You can't do this, Rogue, this is insane. Both families will investigate once they find the girl dead, and you know what will happen when they discover it was you."
Rogue didn't answer. He just gazed at Marius with a half smile on his lips, but his eyes were hard and serious. "Are you telling them?"
Marius restrained from sighing.
"What the fuck, Man, That's-"
Rogue nodded his head and interrupted Marius. "Then do your fucking job or you'll replace her." Marius realized he was dead serious.
