Kazuichi's boots crunched softly on the gravel as the towering walls of the Hybrid Mountain Stronghold came into view. The familiar sight of the sturdy gates, reinforced with layers of steel and concrete, brought a wave of relief washing over him. He hadn't realized how much tension he was holding in his body until now. Beside him, Himeno walked in silence, her eyes focused ahead, but he could tell she was just as eager to get back inside the safety of the stronghold.
As they approached, the heavy gate creaked open with a low groan, revealing the dimly lit interior of the stronghold. The sentries posted atop the walls gave them a quick nod before returning to their vigil. Kazuichi let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding.
"Home," he muttered, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
