Jake ….jake I called but still no response, " i wonder where he could be " mom said " mom check the washroom and the garden let me check the library " " okay " mom responded I wonder where he could be, how the heck did we loose him he was just here . I noticed the door of the library slightly open and I can't remember going there, mom doesn't like entering the library because it's reminds her of dad , sad enough that was dad favorite place , I usually go there when am sad or missing dad. I remember when dad was alife that used to be our favorite dad and daughter spot. We called it's our little playground, I made the library my favorite place cause dad loves reading books to make we sleep we play together day but dad had this one rule, never to play there when his off to work . It was a small room just before mom and dad room it's was painted with dad favorite color sulphuric gold, you could see our family portrait just by the entrance of the door, I loved its when its was family picture day. It's reminds me when my dad was alive, ever since his demise we haven't had an opportunity for a family photo.
Jake …. Jake I called again but still no response, where could he be I asked myself, how could he just disappear without saying goodbye That's akward.
I walk to the library open the door for me to fit and walk in the room was dark with no reflection of any sunlight, I turn on the switch and I got the shock of my life, it was Jake and the sight frighten me .
" what the hell are you doing here Jake " I asked before mom figure out he was in dad library, mom hate visitors entering the library my memory flashback to where Helen came visiting for the first time, it was a terrible experience to recall.
" calm down Rachel why getting exasperated, I just got attracted to the book, let me tell you my secret " he said
Oh my world is he serious this is my dad library and mom won't be happy seeing him here how can I make him understand,keep his secret apart I need take him out of here before my mom gets here .
" Rachel !!!!" I heard mom called damn it, it's mom I mumbled.
" let's get out of here Jake unless you want to get fried " I said sarcastically
" why are you in a hurry, it's just a library "
" nope it isn't just I library, and your not supposed to be there in the first place " I told Jake as I held his hand and drag him out of the library, I locked it Taking the keys to avoid any more of this.
" let's go to the living room " I said to him after letting go of his hands Jezz this guy need to learn how to stay one place
" Rachel can you explain why you acted that way in the library, I just wanted to read some book and your library seems to have my test of book like THE BIRDS OF AMERICA BY JAMES AUDUBON that book is rare and I wonder how you laid your hands on a copy, tell me what's your secret ?." He asked
" what's with you and all the secrets stuff, and wait a minutes are you here for the library and the book in there or are you here to visit me " I asked him with a cold stare .
" oh don't be jealous Rachel, off course I came here for you " he said with a cute smile on his face, I won't lie his smiles are charming and seductive at times .
Oh stop it's Rachel don't tell me your already falling for this guy charm you just met yesterday.
I wipe the thought off my mine as we walk down to the sitting room.
" for your information Jake that's isn't my library it's my dad, and mom won't be happy hearing you went in there, so let's keep this a secret between us " I told him cause I know how much mom will react to the news .
" your dad library, wow that's explains why, am his fan "
his fan ?
What do mean, do you know my dad " I asked curiosly, could it be possible
" off course not I don't know your dad , I just became a fan today silly girl, cause of his books .
" yes that's right how could I lift up my hope thinking Jake could know my dad. I have become so obsessed on finding out who killed my dad that I could imagine someone I just met yesterday to know my dad .
" Rachel is that you " mom called again
Good heavens I forgot about mom ,
" mom I found him we are at the sitting room, I yelled
" coming " she said
" okay mom " I responded and turn back to look at Jake as I gave him a stare this time he can't escape me .
" stop staring at me that way your scaring me I can't stand it " Jake said
" goodness gracious, stop complaining already I need to watch you until mom gets here " .
" there you are , you gave us a scare, luckily Rachel found you on time for breakfast " mom said
" mom what are you making do you need help " I asked
No dear you don't need to, remember you have to take care of your health, I will use make medicinal soup for you to get you back and fit in health then I will prepare your visitor some nice spaghetti and egg, how about that.
" well let me asked him, I turn and stare at Jake ."
" it's okay Rachel mom, am fine with anything, I heard from Rachel that your a very good cook".
" don't flatter me young man, I won't say am the best, but am surely the best "
" stop praising yourself mom, we are know your a good chief, and mom can I have some of the spaghetti, I don't want to take any soup, I will throw up ".
" no excuse Rachel you need to take your soup, that's the only way you can get cure easily " mom said
Oh heavens I will have to eat soup while Jake enjoys mom spaghetti.
I took the remote as I turn on the tv, I went to my favorite cartoon channel and luckily my favorite channel was playing SOPHIA THE FIRST ".
What are you looking for Jake, I asked as I watched him search under the chair and behind the sofa
" am just anxious cause you never mentioned to me that your had any kid brother or sister "
Off course I don't have any kid brother or sister, why are you asking
" don't tell me you put on that channel to watch Rachel, are you still a kid " he mocked
" damn it I forgot I had a visitor and this is so embarrassing "
I heard mom laugh
" that's Rachel for you Jake, she's grown but can't let go of childhood memories, she stills struggles remote with me to watch cartoons I don't even understand what's she enjoys there " mom said
Come on mom, must you say that, my face where already red due to embarrassment.
For heaven sake Rachel bring your friend to the dinner table and change the channel, grow up Rachel " mom said as she laughed, I knew she was doing this on purpose.
I took the remote as I change the channel to a news channel.
Come on Jake let's have breakfast
Okay after you my lady " Jake said oh stop it already .
We work to the dinner not too far from the living room, I sat at the right hand side of the table just close to dad sit, no one sit at dad sit, Jake sat at the left while mom sat facing dad sit .
Our dinner table was big enough to entertain ten people at once, it's a wooden table colored in black with the chairs painted white, you could see our family portraits at your left hand side, it's a picture of mom, dad and me when I was just 10 years old. I miss dad very much .
We had a wooden mirror close to the portrait and I decorated it with madam Johnson flowers, it was charlottes favorite flowers chrysanthemum it's a symbol of our friendship, whenever I feel lonely I look at our family portraits and the mirror their one of the happiest memories I have left .
" what is going on in your head Rachel, focus on the soup it's getting cold already " mom said
" sorry mom, I was lost in thought "
It's okay Rachel, just finish up, think about your health, your just recovered and we can't risk it again .
" just recovered am lost ?"...Jake asked, I blink at mom and I asked her to keep it a secret from him, not in the right mindset to start answering questions.
