Looking at the creature in front of her, Mary stepped back with a pale face. Even though she had already encountered a handful of monsters with Duanmu Huai, this one filled her with a particular sense of dread--for a very simple reason.
Most girls detest bugs, and this black fly, larger than a human, was especially repugnant.
If it was a cockroach, Mary's reaction might have been even more dramatic.
"Same as always, run."
Duanmu Huai backed away a few steps as he spoke.
"Lure it over here, I'll take care of it."

Upon hearing Duanmu Huai's instructions, Mary nodded. She then took a deep breath, looked at the creature before her, and spun around—to run down the other end of the corridor.
