Chapter 1 - 1.Prisoner of War

'Some people will feel what is life and death. Others will live in death itself.'

-Lord of the Midnight-

---------------------------

"Don't do anything. Keep calm and gaze downward."

Another warning speke up from beside Katharina.

She's her mother's sister who has cared for her throughout this time, Madam Magantha Wilson.

Kathrina nodded in understanding. She was walking on rough gravel while simply gazing at her own feet. While her hands were tied. They were prisoners of war who would be sent as slaves to the new kingdom.

A month ago, their kingdom was ruled another more cruel kingdom. They had a monsters army that destroyed, sweeping away the palace and its people.

Bloodshed didn't only occur in the palace and battlefield, but also took place in homes of common people like Katharina and her family.

Monsters spewed fire and terror as they flew through sky, their wings blocking sun. Screams mixed with cries. Only a few persons managed to escape - rest were razed to piles stones and earth, burning rubble.

"Line up and climb into cabin one by one."

They were led into a huge boat filled with prisoners of war by one of knights on watch.

"Should we be taken to a new place?" Katrina asked.

Out of corner her eye, she gave a slight peek. She was unfamiliar with the blazing sunlight and wind blowing through her silver hair, were all new to her.

All she had seen in her seventeen years was solid stone walls, weak light, and total blackness. Her aunt would come alternately with her cousin to bring three meals a day.

"Katharina, keep your eyes down and stop talking. Keep in mind your mother's advice."

Madem Magentha looked at her nephew. She hope no one finds out about her true identity. All her life, she had never thought that such an event as subjugation would occur.

Who would have imagined that a cruel power from north kingdom subjugate this affluent kingdom? She believed all will be secure in due course. After Katharina's fiance picks her up, duty to guard her sister's daughter will end.

But not anymore. Nobody can predict what will occur in the future. As prophecy, a significant event was about to occur.

Bloody Moon ...

A centuries- old years ago, on southern coastal border, there was a small but mighty picks. Despite being few in number, they persist.

Alpha is a direct descendant of Goddess of the Moon. The mighty black wolf leads the herd, who defends their territory against the from 'Cold-Ones.'

On the eve of the moon goddess's birth festival he was given a prophecy that one day a person would be born who would be both a curse and blessing.

'A child conceived of two opposing characters. Love and hate. That figure, who was born on a bloody moon night, would be a blessing if she were under werewolf's care. But being on side of vampires would be a nightmare.'

A long time has gone. Werewolf nation had always kept watch on the prophecy that was later made into a myth.

Until one day, they found a figure similar to forecast. Shiny silver hair with shady emerald eyes. Its aroma drives vampires lose control, sends creatures monsters insane. She will also attract some werewolves who would prey on her.

They kept watch on her from a distance but were unable to approach any closer. Just covenant remembers. That girl will be married off to Alpha, who is now leading pick, when she becomes eighteen-old.

Katharina Wilson. She's woman of prophecy. She didn't even know anything about herself. Moreover, her fiance, who she had never met before.

"We will be secure."

"We'll be safe, " Madem Magentha exclaimed out with assurance.

"I get it."

"Liam will come pick us up before reaching their realm, " Madem Magentha whispered.

Liam Wilson is Madem Magentha's son. Katharina's cousin, who hadn't been caught during the siege a month ago, was Madem Mahentha was sure that her son would arrive to pick them up.

"He went to meet them on south coast, and "he" will come for you as well."

Katharina understood who about 'he' figure in the story's Madem Magentha. He's alpha of a pick group on south coast, as well as her fiancé.

Jared Paige...

Katharina squeezed her hand. She not know her fiancé well, they never interact with one another.

She's only told if he's Alpha who leads a pack of werewolves on south coast, savior sent the moon goddess.

"Is it now? Before I reach eighteen-old, there should still be a year."

She would be taken back when she turned eighteen-old according to tribe elders. They simply gave her a locket called a klim, which had an amber stone that looked like a werewolf's eye, and they didn't meet her again.

"Better would be sooner. Challenges that lie ahead are unknown. You'll be secure if you wed Jared."

"Why? Is someone going to attacked me outside?"

"You don't understand Katharina. You have to be protected. An ordinary human girl like you will end up pitifully if it gets into hands of 'Cold -Ones'."

Katharina couldn't comprehend. It was not explained. Why was she locked up, and why was she forced to hide during a full moon? Why couldn't she even look outside? Her marriage and engagement had been decided long ago.

"I don't know if it's for the best."

"You'll see later," Madem Margentha said, her gaze sharpening- preventing her nephew from asking again.

"I wasn't sure it would come."

"Believe me. You'd rather marry than be prisoner of war in new kingdom. They're monsters. You saw it in the massacre."

The kingdom in north is a cruel nation. Liam had told her about it, and he had cursed them.

"They're human, right?"

"They are beasts with no mercy. Nobody in human race would kill an innocent child without even thinking twice," she said.

Madem Maghenta continued, "Rumors suggest that they are a filthy kingdom the jungle led a vampire, but it just rumors."

To be continued....
