Chapter 195 - Lord Morpheus Everglade

*Morpheus pov*

"Back in the chamber, it took me a while to place where I have heard your name before," The minister said while opening a compartment in his desk

I waited for him to continue, "That's when I remembered this old thing," he said placing a giant book on the table, "Everyone that wants to be minister forces themselves to read it the history of the Wizengamot. Droll really but, I noticed one name kept coming up Everglade. It seems your family has a history of being advisors to the minister,"

"Indeed," I replied shortly while taking a sip of wine

He's not wrong, of course not all of the minister advisors were me throughout the ages. Some were naturally descendants I recall only being the first and second advisor.

"It's convenient you show up when things start getting messy, I take it you want to follow the family tradition?" He asked with a frown

I rolled my eyes, "Are you always this negative I have no desire to be your advisor," I scoffed taking another sip of wine, "I just want my Lordship rights reinstated legally by the ministry,"

He looked to be in thought, "Obviously you have the right so it will be so but, since it has been many years since a member of your family took the mantle further proof will be needed I will send a missive to Gringotts to confirm the vaults have been reactivated, your ring is hardly known by shape so this will be easier,"

I grin formed on my face, "Of course,"

"Now, what from my very limited understanding you work at Hogwarts right now?" he asked while putting the book away

I nodded slightly, "I do I'm the divination professor," thinking of my job at Hogwarts a grin overtook my lips I told Albus he might need to find a new professor but lately my mind has wondered to a new avenue

"How do you find working there?" he prodded

A better avenue, "Delightful really of course there was that scuffle at the end of the last duel such a shame I heard they will be canceling the finals angry parents I reckon,"

"Oh, Scuffle and not an attack?" he queried

"Of course, they were stopped instantly like children," I laughed as he laughed while at the same time pouring myself another glass and then conjuring another, "You must have some of this wine,"

His smile strained, "Perhaps a little, it is one of my favorites that's why I keep it in my office," oh he must be poorer than I thought

Pouring a second glass I swirled it around creating a vortex the beautiful red wine created the perfect liquid swirl, "Just look at it," I chuckled, "Tantalizing,"

He let out an awkward laugh as he looked down at the swirl *snap!* "Nashwa" his head bobbed down slightly

This was a delicate process I must be careful with my words, although he is a rather weak wizard being the minister he takes many mind-cleansing and mental clarity potions, "You begin to trust Lord Morpheus Everglade's words slightly more as you two interact,"

"aistiraha" Suddenly he snapped back to reality and laughed, "Seems like I got lost in thought I apologize,"

"It's fine minister I happen to do the same when wine is involved," I tipped my glass before taking a sip and he did the same

Some might think this spell is powerful but truthfully it was only slightly stronger than a mind-muddling spell. Its strengths heavily lay in its discreet usage and subtle influence.

It was very different than the one I used in Asia.

We chatted for a little longer before parting ways. Instead of heading back to Hogwarts, I took out and portkey and disappeared from Diagon Alley.

A castle loomed on the horizon, a dark silhouette against the blood-red sky. Lightning crackled, illuminating jagged towers and the gaping maw of the entrance. Inside, the air was thick with the metallic scent of blood and the sounds of fierce combat. The ancient stone walls were stained crimson, the floors slick with blood.

In the grand hall, two vampires were locked in a deadly embrace. One, a towering figure with wild eyes and fangs bared, sank his teeth into the throat of his opponent. The victim struggled, his eyes bulging in agony, blood spurting in rhythmic pulses as the predator tore flesh and muscle apart. With a final, brutal twist, the victor ripped the head clean off, showering himself in a geyser of blood.

Across the hall, another vampire, a slender female with razor-sharp nails, was disemboweled her prey. Her victim, a younger vampire, writhed beneath her as she dug her claws into his abdomen, yanking out his intestines with savage glee. She cackled as she raised a handful of entrails to her mouth, the blood dripping from her lips as she devoured them.

Morpheus walked slowly through the carnage, his presence an unsettling calm amid the chaos. His eyes glowed an eerie sheen, and his steps were soundless. The vampires, too consumed by their bloodlust, barely noticed him at first. But as he approached, one by one, their movements ceased, their bodies stiffening.

The first to notice him was a vampire crouched over a mangled corpse, feasting on the heart. He looked up, blood dripping from his chin, and met Morpheus's gaze. Instantly, his body began to petrify, skin turning to stone, veins freezing in place. Within moments, he was a lifeless statue, frozen in a pose of savage hunger.

Morpheus continued, his presence radiating a cold, inexorable doom. Vampires turned to face him, snarls turning to screams as their bodies hardened into stone. A pair locked in a vicious grapple froze mid-strike, their faces contorted with rage and pain, immortalized in their final act of violence.

He continued throughout the castle eventually finding himself at the tallest spire, where a door leading to a small room was brutally smashed open.

Morpheus stepped through the door slowly a calm look on his face as he surveyed the blood and bodies lying about, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry," a faint voice whispered in pain

Morpheus turned to face Vlad as he lay against a wall blood dripping from his fangs his veins protruding from his body as he tried to resist the poison, "You shouldn't have betrayed me, Vlad," Morpheus spoke calmly as he stepped forward

"Please," Vlad panted, "Give me the cure I will start over completely loyal to you I'll take the soul oath!"

Morpheus shook his head, "The opportunity has long passed,"

He then stepped forward grasping Vlad's cheeks forcing the Vampire king to look into his eyes, "stop stop Stop STOP!" the once proud king yelled as visions of the future assaulted his brain, "You can't! You BASTARD!" Vlad yelled his despair turning to anger

"See Vlad don't worry even in death your race has a use," Morpheus spoke with that same small smile
