Chapter 172 - High Intensity

*Narrator pov*

Amelia stepped from the platform with a brilliant stride she seemed to be glowing in happiness and pride, "Better than a tie eh?" she said with a smirk referencing her last duel

"Merlin that was much better than a tie!" Xenophilius grinned clapping slowly

Pandora giggled while clapping, "My my Xeno I think we have an upcoming duelist in our midst," Amelia groaned while plopping into her chair

"I don't want to be a duelist I told you all this, I want to be an auror!" she exclaimed with a jubilant smile

"Better work on your strict no-nonsense business face then," Xenophilius joked nudging her shoulder

Suddenly Amelia's face dropped into a stern scowl, "Listen here Mr. Lovegood you will tell me where you are hiding the artifacts,"

Xenophilius shuddered holding in his laugh, "I think you got it down pretty well already Amelia forget what I said,"

The three friends laughed shaking their heads, "You think the fifth years will pull through?" Amelia asked as her laughter died down

Xenophilius shrugged, "Think so, Frank seems to want to win badly this time since the last duel,"

A scoff was heard behind the three, "I'm right here you know?"

Xenophilius turned around to look at Frank, "So you don't want to win?" he asked with a small smile

"Ew don't do that you look like Professor Morpheus," Pandora joked until she realized said professor was right there

Turning robotically she saw the professor looking at her with a small smile, "Sorry professor," he nodded and turned back to look at the platform

"Eh of course I want to win," Frank said bringing their attention back to the older student, "I just hope I don't go against someone like Kingsley had to,"

"FRANK LONGBOTTOM VERSUS MARK LINCOLN," the judge announced bringing everyone's attention to frank

He stood with a confident smile plastered on his face as he walked toward the platform, "Dont worry guys I got this!" he welled with a flashy smile

Walking onto the platform Frank gazed at his opponent, with short black hair, smaller than him for sure so about five foot two, a wand held tightly in his hand, and a large grin splitting his face.

"Lincoln where have I heard that name before?" Frank asked Mark across from him

Mark held a smug look, "My great-grandfather was the no Maj president of the United States, probably heard about him in passing. My family line is quite notorious in both worlds. So what kind of name is Longbottom?" he looked to be holding in a laugh

Frank shrugged his shoulders a small smile playing on his lips, "A fun name isn't it?" he had dealt with those jokes from several first-generation wizards before

And sadly purebloods even though they knew his family history still poked fun. Frank was long immune to the jokes.

But that didn't mean his will to win didn't burn even brighter.

"Ready?" The judge asked the two

Frank nodded, "Ready,"

Mark held his wand loosely, "Ready,"

"BEGIN!"

Mark, known for his prowess in Transfiguration, wasted no time in showcasing his skill. With a turn of his wris, his wand began to spin in his hand. Sidestepping a slew of stunning spells from Frank, Mark three his body downward slamming his wand horizontally on the ground while narrowly ducking a lightning charm, "Commoveo!" the ground beneath both duelists began to shake and quake cracks spreading from Mark toward the edges of the platform like a spider web.

Frank fought to stabilize himself, "Bloody hell can't I duel a normal person?" he groaned while flicking his wand forward, "Magnus ventus!" a great gust of wind brushed through the platform throwing most of the debris that was created from the quake far off of the platform

Mark sneered his nostrils flaring in anger as he swiped his wand to the right and then quickly diagonally left, "Aquilam magnam!" he sneered causing some of the leftover debris to shift into large bald eagles they flew high into the sky

"FULMEN," Ligtning crackled "flamma verberare!" Fire lit the platform

And Markus paled, "Magnus murus!" he screamed in desperation

A giant wall formed but it was not enough the lighting broke it apart like paper the fire found its way through a weak "Protego!" was heard and gasps filled the stadium

The judge however did not move.

Suddenly an ear-piercing scream was heard from above causing everyone to look upward, Frank's eyes dilated as three eagles dived upon him from above all coming in at different angles.

But Frank was quick to react, "Diffendo, Reducto, Protego!" one eagle was cut in half the other reduced to dust and finally, the last one's talons bounced off of the shield.

Frank suddenly felt a large sense of danger and leaped forward, "ARGH!" he grunted in paint as a stone spike shallowly cut his back.

If he was just a second slower it would have impaled him.

Frank spun retaliating with a Stunning Spell, but Mark was equally adept at charms, performing a Protego to deflect the spell.

From the crushed wall a figure Mark stood, limping as he walked forward part of his clothes burnt and tattered, "Bastard," he snarled across the platform

Frank laughed as he stood shakily on his feet his back screaming in pain, "FLAMMA VERBERARE, MAGNUS VENTUS!" the wind strengthened the fire growing it to larger proportions

Mark was awed and terrified at the same time, "Aguamenti!" A large torrent of water shot from his wand attempting to douse the flames but it was for naught

Knowing he was going to lose Mark turned to his last bald eagle and flicked his wand, "Motus!"

The eagle pounced down at the exhausted Frank he grunted trying to move out of the way screaming in pain as the talons clipped his shoulder.

But, his scream wasn't the only one Mark howled in pain as he flung himself off of the platform the flames licking at his legs as he rolled onto the ground.

Frank stood no he crouched on the platform cradling his arm but his wand was still firm in his hand, "FRANK LONGBOTTOM WINS!" The judge announced

As the words left the judges lips both sides of the professors were already up walking toward him, "Why didn't you stop the duel earlier!? You have for much less!" One of the American professor yelled

The judge looked at both parties and sighed messaging his nose, "Calm down I judged both would make it out relatively safe from the ordeals, and stopping the duel would not only provide no results but hamper the growth of both wizards,"
