Chapter 163 - the British are coming!

*Morpheus pov*

"You know Khufu is looking for you guys, has been for centuries," I said with a teasing smirk

A low growl escaped the jackal's maw, "Shut up Morpheus, come free me!"

I chuckled at the sight leaning down to a squat in front of the cage, "You know what I want," I said spreading my arms out into a shrug

"Fine," the magical beast muttered causing my grin to falter

"What?" I asked frowning

"I said fine!" he bit back at me

"I know what you said but what happened to the give and pull we were supposed to have!? What happened to the banter the throwing around of old favors and knowledge?!" Damn bastard ruined the fun part

"They captured me and intended to use me for a sacrifice on top of what they already made me! I'm not some ward I'm a living being!" he sounded furious

"Come on Anubis, I'll tell you what I will break your cage, and when they come back you can have your fun," I said with a sly grin

"Good, now break it," he said majestically

Chuckling I got to work breaking the cage. The funny thing about Egypt more specifically their past beliefs is they weren't really wrong.

Just misguided or more specifically they misunderstood. Their gods like Ra, Anubis, and more were actually just extremely old and powerful magical beasts, and ironically with their worship the beasts just got stronger and stronger.

Of course, they aren't 'Gods' but the Egyptian deities are powerful beasts. Well, what's left of them anyway. War took many but some still live hiding in the shadows.

Like Anubis here.

And my dear friend Khufu has been searching for them, well I should say he has been getting people to search for them for him seeing as he can hardly leave the pyramid.

"Why are you in America?" I asked while breaking an inscription on the cage

Anubis huffed, "This forest was a perfect place to rest hardly anyone came here until I started sensing demonic and angelic magic in the air. My old injuries flared up before I could leave causing me to hide in hibernation. I guess they found me before then," his snarl would send shivers down any witch or wizard's spine

"You're still recovering?" I asked in shock while breaking another seal

Anubis nodded, "Soul injury happened during the last war," he muttered in anger

"Those are tricky," I muttered while breaking the last one, "All done, now have your fun and go visit Khufu he can heal that injury,"

"I was planning to before I got captured," he growled, "Now I'm going to get the rest,"

Standing I gazed at the powerful magical beast known as Anubis I knew he was going to follow his word.

"I must get going," I said turning and making my way out of the forest, "Oh, and make sure to destroy the portal," I called back

I got no response but a low growl.

He was mad.

He was mad at the demons and angels.

My day just got a whole lot better.

*Narrator pov*

Lily Evan's stood atop the platform with a calm impassive look encompassing her usual cheerful face, she was serious about winning this duel. Across from her, an American male student stood his name was James Bradly a cocky smirk was playing at his lips as he jeered, "That Stiles guy got a lucky win you won't be so lucky,"

A disgusted look crossed Lily's face, "Did you rehearse that?" she asked in bewilderment

James flushed in embarrassment and anger, "Shut up!"

With a flick of her wand, Lily wasted no time in launching her first spell, "Stupefy!" A brilliant bolt of red light shot from her wand, hurtling towards James at rapid speed.

But James was quick to react, his voice steady as he countered, "Murus!" The incoming spell splashed into a stone wall, scattering in all directions

Unphased, Lily pressed on, her determination shining in her eyes. "Expelliarmus!" she shouted, aiming to disarm James and end the duel swiftly

But James was prepared, his wand moving in a swift counterattack as he cast, "Mobilio!" Lily's disarming charm was thwarted by the stone wall moving to block it, the spells light dancing harmlessly around James before dissipating into the air.

Frustration flickered across Lily's face, but she refused to let it get to her. She summoned her next spell, "Petrificus Totalus!" The spell shot through the air aiming straight at James

He smirked in an almost condescending way, "Mobilo!" the wall moved once more

But as it moved Lily acted in haste, "Arresto Momentum!" the slowing charm tore through the air instead of heading for James it intercepted the wall

As the spell hit the wall suddenly slowed down moving far too slowly to block her initial spell.

James's smirk fell as he quickly jumped out of the way avoiding the petrification spell.

But Lily was ready, her concentration at its peak as she moved forward at a steady pace her wand moving seamlessly with another incantation, "Lumos Maximum!" a bright light formed right in front of James blinding him and making it hard to cast any spells at her

"Stupefy, Expelliarmus, flipendo!" She rattled off spell after spell

James stumbled trying to dodge as best he could but eventually a stunning spell hit him square in the gut knocking the wind out if him and sending James to the ground his wand rolling from his hand.

The crowds cheered in Lily's victory.

"Lily Evan's wins!" the judge announced

Off to the side, Abara frowned, "I'm glad she won but that was a boring duel, James was too self-confident from the start,"

Yowie nodded, "I agree he set himself up for failure,"

Morpheus the real one who replaced the illusion admist the duel laughed, "He reminds me of some of our own duelists before they got beat,"

Albus smiled, "I have to agree, it's amazing how far we have progressed,"

It was. The Hogwarts team has improved greatly since their first duel not only in their ability to cast spells but their situational awareness and creativity.

The Hogwarts team that faced Durmstrang was very different than the one here today.

"It's all thanks to Abara and Yowie," Morpheus praised the two

Abara blushed lightly, "Bah! It's thanks to you, Filius, Minerva, and others. Without all of your help, the students would be faring much worse,"

Albus laughed lightly, "Take the praise Abara you and Yowie have done an excellent job and I hope you continue to do so throughout the years,"
