Chapter 149 - One last step

*Morpheus pov*

I sat in my workroom not to be confused with my ritual chamber studying the transport designs I saw at the beach. I sketched them out on a large piece of paper that would be used for a poster.

Each line was carefully sketched to match exactly what I saw, I studied and penned notes down beside some symbols slowly understanding the thought process used in its creation.

The design wasn't so simple as 'its a portal' no they designed it in such a way that they could add to the scheme once the portal has been used.

"Hmm," I hummed in thought jotting down notes as I crossed out a section I added

Their theory is once the portal is used a single time they can continue to make the portal larger and begin to mass teleport soldiers onto Earth.

I had to begrudgingly admit the design was brilliant.

Well would be brilliant if I didn't find out about it, the thing is with the extra steps made to leave space for adding to the portal scheme they actually formed a clear and dangerous hole.

One that I will happily exploit.

First I needed to find the other portals, luckily I used the cascade to make a scrying map. Walking over to my desk I slid one of the compartments open and took out the map.

Seeing the places with high concentrations of demonic, godly, and angelic magic using a separate map I began to mark the places with a fainter concentration. They want to keep these areas low-key and away from my sight meaning they need to be in areas I wouldn't normally be able to pick up their influence.

On my scrying map, I noticed the beach I previously visited had a low concentration which originally led me to believe there was just a single presence there that possibly got into a fight.

Now, I know that was actually a key location.

I began to note down places with similar concentrations finding three right away with a possibility of more popping up.

Before winter break ends and I have to resume my post at Hogwarts I want to visit one of these locations.

I guess it's time to start planning.

I moved slowly through the crowded streets of Brazil, the energy from the streets could lift the mood of even the most depressed person.

I haven't visited the Brazil magical district in so long I wonder if it has changed much. If the mundane streets were this lively I looked forward to the magical counterpart.

Despite my usual all-black attire today I wore something else, a breathable robe set with environment charms and woven from the scales/ skin of a Chromarid which is a term used for a magical chameleon. They have the annoying ability to seamlessly blend into all surroundings one would think it was akin to invisibility.

Of course, at this moment I was merely using it as a robe activating the special features would just draw unwanted attention. Not that the mundane could see it in the first place.

Apart from my change in clothing adorned on my left wrist was an intricately designed bracelet made with the singular purpose of copying the talent of metamorphus. With this bracelet, I can change my appearance to look like one another person. Going the mundane way served the purpose of finding a suitable candidate before entering the magical side.

Usually, I don't care for disguises but knowing there are demonic and angelic magic signatures in this area I don't want to be found lest a whole squad is sent for me.

I don't want to get into a troublesome battle. And fail to complete my objective.

Looking around making sure I didn't miss the place I ducked into a coffee shop and walked forward behind the counter and into the back. No one reacted acting as if everything was normal, I walked toward the backdoor, and instead of opening it, I walked straight through.

The wonderful sight of magical Brazil greeted me on the other side, street performers were casting basic spells and engaging with the crowd earning applause and pocket change in return.

Street vendors were about selling just about anything one would want.

I appreciated the sight but didn't stop on my journey, though I did pick up some food it looked delicious.

I walked for what seemed to be ages before finding a run-down shop with an old sign that read 'Forest Tours'. I chuckled walking inside, "Trip to the Amazon," I said passing over some currency

Counting my money the man behind the counter nodded handing over a keychain, "Amazon, is the activation word," he explained

I nodded, "Thank you," before holding the keychain and muttering, "Amazon," I was whisked away

*Narrator pov*

Morpheus appeared in a secluded spot in the Amazon Rain Forest, he quickly pulled some cloth over his face and activated the key components of his wardrobe. Morpheus seemed to disappear from sight blending into the surroundings.

The reason for the robe instead of say an invisibility spell or the famed cloak of invisibility was simple, demons and angels sometimes have the gift of feeling out magical presences nearby like sonar. The trait isn't too rare but not something every member of their race has.

The races being so Intuned with magic it is a given some abilities crop up often, Morpheus didn't want to take any chances.

Before moving on Morpheus cast the spell he recently taught his students enhancing his senses after that he began to move at a moderate pace through the dense forest.

Pulling out his wand Morpheus whispered softly, "invenire," the wand hovering slightly above the ground out of site to anyone or anything that might be scanning the forest began to slowly turn until it stopped facing west.

Morpheus picked up the wand and began to move west stopping every once in a while to perform the small spell again making sure to hide all traces of his magic.

As time ticked on and the journey became longer Morpheus had to bite back a bitter laugh, 'I am being led to the boundary line between the magical and mundane section of the forest' he mused

As he reached the boundary line Morpheus crept through making sure to stay low just in case. The wand wasn't needed anymore he could now sense faint signatures in the area.

'The feeling of pollution' he remarked

Inching closer Morpheus continued his journey deeper into the forest he was deeper in than any man was willing to go without heavy protection.

He crept toward a clearing watching as a demon carved into the ground repelling and containment wards. Morpheus could clearly see the portal scheme on top of a flat stone with an anchor clearly in the center.

'Perfect' he thought a grin spreading across his face

Morpheus expertly evaded the alarm wards and entered behind the protections watching the demon like a predator ready to strike.

'No, killing him will be without purpose I must see the bigger picture,' Morpheus thought containing his desire to kill the demon

The demon worked and Morpheus waited and watched every move his eyes blazing with passion.

Morpheus was a patient man.

He will wait and when an opening appears he will strike and he will accomplish his goals.
