Chapter 99 - Stiles

*Morpheus pov*

My eyes were locked onto the words scribbled madly onto the book, and my right hand lightly traced the pages as I remembered the time of my life were writing in this book was my form of therapy.

The visions I saw back then flooded my mind like a tsunami not letting up even for a second, I felt like I was drowning unable to peak my head over the water and breathe.

A faint chuckle made its way from my throat as I remembered those stressful times. I learned how to deal with what I saw, how to function once again. When you are skilled in divination oftentimes you will believe your visions are the truth one hundred percent of the time.

It took time to realize that wasn't the case. And once I did realize that the world seemed to open up for me once more.

Hearing my door creak open I put the book into my robes and turned around to greet the next student I needed to help, "Stiles, please sit anywhere you want," I motioned to the desks

He nodded and took a seat at the front, "Thank you again for trying to help professor," he said brightly but I could see he was tired

Most likely from not using any ice or cold-in-nature spells lately.

I nodded, "Of course, you are a student of mine after all," I went over to my desk and pulled out a bowl before filling it with water and setting it in front of Stiles

Conjuring a chair I took a seat in front of him, "Now, let us begin by talking about your condition truthfully I know what you have," I said lightly

Stiles seemed to jolt his eyes widening, "Truly?! I searched everywhere trying to find out what it was called but couldn't find anything please tell me!" he almost pleaded

I nodded, "It is not unusual for you to not be able to find out the origins of your condition as it is very old and rarely seen luckily for you my family library is rather old," I chuckled a bit

I didn't lie there really was a book in my library that explained partially what he had although Stiles seems to be a unique case where the aftereffects of a demon curse changed.

Continuing I explained, "What you have is Frostbound Affliction often called dead man's touch," he looked horrified at the name, "Don't fret the name doesn't single anything foreboding. Frostbound affliction stems from a wizard or witch being struck with a curse that brings them to the brink of death, when healed sometimes the coldness of the curse never leaves. Sound familiar?" I asked mixing truths and lies into my explanation

Stiles paled, "Last year," he mumbled realizing he was closer to death than he thought

I nodded, "Yes last year, although the professors and I don't know how you were healed it seems it happened right when you were on the cusp affecting your magic and soul. The lethargy you feel is from this cold magic naturally building in your body, when you use spells involving the colder elements you feel more energized because you are releasing the built-up magic," I explained

Stiles nodded but said, "I don't feel cold though?" confusion was written across his face

I laughed, "Oh you wouldn't, your body has naturally adjusted to the change meaning this magic is your own,"

Stiles sighed, "Thank you for explaining this professor, do you know of a way to fix this?" he asked hopeful for a positive answer

I shook my head, "No, there is no known solution for this problem as it is very rare. Honestly, Stiles if I were you I would capitalize on this it's rare for a wizard to be gifted in an area of elemental magic. If nurtured properly this thing you see as a curse, an illness could be a strength a blessing in disguise if you will," I replied with a small smile

Stiles forced a smile on his face, "I guess I will have to see it that way, Professor. I just wish I wasn't so tired all the time, and richer. Maybe then I could find better spells involving ice," he groaned massaging his head with his hands stressed from the day's activities

"You used to live in America right? Well next time you visit travel to the magical part of New York, there you will find affordable books of all types of magic including what you are looking for," I suggested

Stiles forced a smile, "Thank you professor but I've been there and hardly found anything," he said with some sadness

I chuckled, "Let me correct myself I meant a specific shop, The Eagles Nest. It's a hidden little shop but the owner sells some of the best books out there," I said conjuring parchment and quill

"Here is the name just in case you forget," I said handing the parchment over

"Thank you!" Stiles exclaimed happily this time a genuine smile covering his face

"Of course, now one more thing let's keep this between us. Although nothing we talked about is bad, if word spread that a student was inflicted by an 'illness' the papers would be in a frenzy yeah?" I joked softly

"Of course Sir!" he replied, "But uh can I tell my friends?" he asked nervously

"Sure," I smiled softly

Stiles soon left not once asking about the bowl of water.

Dipping my finger into the bowl I felt the bone-chilling cold of the water. Chuckling I leaned back into my chair that kid doesn't even realize the gift he has been given, the chill will continue to grow eventually balancing with his natural magic.

Stiles Marr will become a notable wizard of this time, maybe he will be recorded in history as the strongest ice element-focused wizard.

Marcus, you were good for something after all.

Leaving Professor Morpheus's classroom I sighed in relief. What happened to me wasn't as bad as I thought, as he said with the proper spells and practice I can become strong.

I just need to find a place where I can cast some spells without causing a ruckus.

As I entered the common room I saw my friends relaxing on the couch, "Stiles! How was your meeting with Professor Creeps," James said jolting from his seat

I laughed, "Good, I have some interesting things to share," I said cryptically knowing he would be dying to know

Sirius bolted upright, "Share with the class," he barked in laughter

"Not now later," I whispered joining them

James and Sirius really hate Professor Morpheus and I honestly understand why. He was terrifying the day we were called into the headmaster's office.

I'm honestly still scared of the man.

How can I not be after he showed up bloody after hurting Snape's dad?

Although it was weird when he sat before me today and acted so casual I felt like I wanted to tell him everything, from my worries to my desires.

It honestly unnerved me.

"Hey snap out of it and tell us, man!" James said shaking my shoulder drawing me from my thoughts

I shook my head dismissing my earlier thoughts, "Right sorry I'll tell you guys later,"
