Chapter 15 - Children are troublesome-15

"Also there will be no incense to help you focus," I added as an afterthought

I instantly saw the student's moods fall even deeper. These children don't know how lucky they are. When I was learning how to perform these spells I never had any of these boons. I either had to figure it out on my own or watch people from afar.

My brother on the other hand had a much easier time, he caught the eyes of some mages at the time who taught him some basics.

The bastard used to lord it over my head! Nowadays those so-called mages would be called crackpots!

Ah, I still remember the day me and my brother were chased from my village. Cursed they called us, ha! They didn't even know a true curse until we went back twenty years later.

My family might be strange but what we all have in common is the ability to hold grudges!

"Umm, teacher what about us?" A young voice called out ripping me from my joyful memories

Looking over at the students I realized I hadn't told them about the Tarot midterm assignment.

Thinking for a bit I replied calmly, "For the small number of students that resonated with the Tarot card technique I have a different type of assessment. Logically speaking most Tarot divinations can only be seen as true once some time has passed they simply aren't as instant as the other two. For that reason, you will be creating your own tarot decks as the ancients did before you."

Seeing the students nodding along and taking notes I continued, "I will be able to guide you all more easily since there are very few of you. But, you must remember to create one card blank, this card will be what takes you the most time to make and also what you will be putting the most amount of magic into,"

As I spoke I saw their eyes sparkle in wonder, "This card has been called many names in the past, and even now the name is still fought over in many circles. Does anyone know one of the names?"

Seeing Mr. Lovegood raising his hand I nodded toward him to speak, "The bonded card,"

"That is the name popularized in South Asia, another name is the bearer card, or the life card, or even the avatar card," as I spoke I could see their quills moving furiously across the parchment

"Why are there so many different names professor?" One kid asked

"Generally speaking it is cultural differences but another reason is because of the different uses. If you advance enough in the art of Tarot I will personally teach you these intricacies," I finished with a small smile

Seeing class was almost over I decided to give them time to pack up, "And that will be time everyone, please prepare for the next class as it will be purely hands-on,"

As the students filed out of my classroom a strange sense of pride bubbled into my chest seeing their enthusiastic looks.

If only my brother could see me now.

As I left my classroom I saw many students walking the halls trying to get to the great hall for dinner. I was famished from saying the same thing to practically every one of my classes.

It is distasteful how far the divination practice fell in Britain. My seventh years are on the same material as my third years.

Any other divination master in my place would have had a heart attack seeing this.

Personally, I was just mildly annoyed.

As I rounded the corner I saw a sight that was at this point getting old.

I sighed deeply I was not in the mood today.

Pulling out my wand I silently cast a rope-binding spell called Incarcerous I modified to shoot multiple ropes.

""AHHH!" The quarling children screamed in alarm as ther feet where bound

Seeing they where firmly caught I began to drag them to the great hall.

"HEY! STOP THIS HURTS!" A young voice I recognized as James Potter yelled

"STOP DRAGGING US WE WILL WALK!" Another voice yelled belonging to the Black family brat

Pushing open the doors to the great hall I continued to drag them ignoring their yells.

Instantly the happy voices of children enjoying dinner fell to a deathly silence.

Bliss.

"PROFESSOR MORPHEUS! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!" Minerva's thick accent tore through my beautiful silence

"HELP US!" James yelled

Seeing everyone waiting for an explanation I calmly spoke, "I see these same students fighting outside the great hall almost every time I pass. The first couple of times I lightly punished them and let you deal with the rest. I'm getting tired of it Albus. If this was where I went to school the first time something like this would happen would be the last,"

Albus slowly spoke, "We will settle this in private, the students don't need to be bothered with trivial matters such as This,"

I smiled lightly, "You are correct, that's why you will call their parents here to meet us in your office after dinner."

Albus slowly narrowed his eyes, "we don't need to concern the parents,"

"If you don't do this I'm afraid these ropes will not be released. I seem to have forgotten how to cancel the spell," I replied with a sorrowful look

Minerva huffed and flicked her wand casting finite.

Nothing happened.

This time she spoke, "Finite!" still nothing happened

I could see many thoughts whirling around Albus's head. If he casts finite and fails it would be a massive embarrassment.

"I think having the parents come would be ideal," he nodded sagely

*Albus pov*

Sitting in my office chair I waited for everyone to arrive. To pass the time I read through Morpheus's midterm assignments.

A pain deep in my soul began to form. It's not that I hate or even dislike divination. I even realized the poor professor hiring trend I had for this subject was my fault.

Some wounds never healed and Divination is a wound I don't think ever will.

I still remember Arianna's smile as she learned divination for the first time. I remembered her smile when I gifted her a deck of tarot cards.

I remember when she told me she wanted to become the best diviner in history.

I felt a small dampness on my cheeks, hastily I cleaned my face as I sensed the trouble students coming.

James Potter the leader, Sirius Black the troublemaker, Remus Lupin the shy one and Stiles Marr.

Along with them Severus Snape.

As they their way up the stairs into my office, I saw Morpheus was with them. How my wards didn't sense him I couldn't figure out.

Soon my floo system roared to life and Fleamont Potter and his wife Euphemia walked in.

Soon the floo lit once more and to my surprise, Arcturus Black stepped out instead of Sirius's father and mother.

Next, a young woman with dirty blond hair arrived she was Mckenzie Marr.

As everyone greeted one another I waited for Eileen Prince to arrive.

"Severus where is your guardian," I heard Morpheus ask

Severus didn't reply.

"Hmm, Albus do lend me, Fawkes." Morpheus didn't ask nor did he order

Just who is this mystery man?

"Surely we can start this meeting without young Snape's Guardian," I said trying to get this whole ordeal over with

"Nonsense let us follow the old charter," Morpheus replied easily

Instantly my blood turned cold, "it is called the Old Charter for a reason, the ideas are simply too archaic and savage," I replied

They simply were! How he knows about them I must figure out.

"I see I will travel my own way then," Morpheus replied taking out a small handful of powder

This wasn't flue powder though. That was Phoenix ash! My eyes narrowed in distaste the only way to get that Ash is to prevent a Phoenix from rising again.

"Bring me to Severus Snape's residence!" Morpheus declared then disappeared in a flame

"So that is the new divination professor?" Fleamont asked me quirking his brow in wonder

"Yes, he's very different," I replied with a helpless shrug

*flash*

Morpheus and Eileen Prince arrived in a flash of flames. She looked deathly pale while Morphues was slowly using a handkerchief to wipe blood off his face.

"What happened!" I ordered him to tell me I fought to control my magic

"A man sought to separate a magical mother from her magical son. So I followed the NEW charter to the letter," Morpheus replied calmly

"Nowhere in the new charter does it allow the murder of Muggles!" I angrily replied

"Murder? I would never! The charter clearly states if a nonmagical party tries to interfere in the school life of a student that party must be dealt with in a swift matter." Morpheus replied

Which is true even though we hardly ever do it. And when the situation is dire and we feel a magical child is in danger we use the memory charm.

"It also states death cannot be a result in the situation," I replied in a calmer tone when I heard no one died

But what Morpheus said next made everyone in the room's blood run cold.

"Exactly that's why I just pulled out his tongue and crippled his hands, he was a distasteful fellow," Morpheus replied with a bright smile
