Chapter 87 - A buried memory

*Morpheus pov*

I stood in front of my fourth-year students explaining to them the importance of yet another herb, "This is commonly known as Lavender, I'm sure all of you at one point in your lives have heard of this herb after all it is very common and used specifically for incense. The correct term would be memory incense, when burned it can help unearth forgotten memories. These incenses are used in a variety of ways from healing to divining," I explained while showing the raw herb and then a stick of incense

I chuckled, "All of you have experienced the effects of this incense after all I burned it last year in our first class," I added drawing some looks of comprehension on the student's faces

Passing out several sticks of incense I told the students to pass them around, "Now, beyond the typical uses of Lavender what can we use it for in divination? We established the effects of lavender are to stimulate and pull memories to the surface. Using this we can pull memories of past or recent divinations to dissect them and learn more than you did at a first glance " I said with a small smile

Well if you are proficient in Occlumency lavender is just a little boost but I won't spoil that little fact.

"There is no way for you to practice this as Lavender is simple to use, but I wanted to bring this to your attention for several reasons. One, as you embark on the journey of divination you will soon realize if you don't have the gift of the eye your visions will be blurry and sometimes misleading and lavender can help you relive those divinations to accurately piece together the future. Two, when you embark into the world of adult wizards sometimes you will want to remember things you learned in Hogwarts and this will be a helpful tool," I finished putting the Lavender away

Of course, lavender can be used in many ways other than the two I mentioned but, the students can self-learn those.

"Yes, Ms. Helshire?" I asked seeing her hand raised

"Can you light some incense right now so we can feel the effects knowing their present this time?" she asked with an eager smile

Shrugging I replied, "We have enough time, to receive the maximum effect close your eyes and focus your mind," I said before lighting one of the incense

"Focus my mind on what Sir?" someone asked

Smiling I just replied, "Whatever you desire,"

As the incense wafted through the room, I closed my eyes and enjoyed the silence. As my mind relaxed I could feel a memory trying to pull to the front of my mind from behind my Occlumency shields.

Feeling the effect I opened my eyes and pulled my shields up to full strength.

Soon students began to slowly open their eyes, some had smiles on their faces while others looked off sadly.

"Class is almost over, you can leave early if you want," I said looking at the clock

As the students drifted out of my classroom I could hear their passionate chatter. They seemed to really enjoy reliving some of their memories.

"Thank you, sir!" Marinette Helshire said before leaving with a wide smile

When all of the students left I stood up and exited my classroom and began to head up to Albus's office.

Entering his office I saw him sitting behind a mountain of papers, "Albus," I greeted while walking to the window behind him

He smiled with a small sigh, "Morpheus please tell me you have something to distract me from this paperwork," he laughed at his joke while popping a piece of candy

I chuckled, "You are addicted to those things," he really was

Albus waved me off, "Hardly I would say I'm an avid buyer of these Muggle treats it's good to connect with the other side sometimes you know?" he said almost sagely

Forcing a smile I got down to business, "I will be out of the castle for the rest of the day," I told him while looking up at the small rain clouds forming in the sky

"Hmm, what for?" He asked

Sighing I shook my head, "It's the reunion of a very important day in my life," I replied

Albus nodded in understanding, "I see," I could tell he understood what I meant. "Take your time just be back before your next class," he said in understanding

Nodding I smiled, "Take care," with that I took out a portkey and popped away

Appearing on the outskirts of Greece I walked slowly toward my destination. A small area with no population many think it is cursed.

After walking for about thirty minutes I calmed my beating heart, my steps were unhurried but I wanted to turn back.

This is one of the only places that I truly detest.

The area I was in was rocky, almost in a foreboding way, the jagged rocks jutted out from the ground as if they were tempting people to stab themselves on them.

Nearing a small path in the jagged labyrinth I muttered a small spell and closed my eyes.

Opening my eyes I was greeted with the sight of a ruined village, blood splattered everywhere.

One would have thought this happened recently.

'Rage' was not a word that could describe the feelings engulfing my being. Me and my brother hid and persevered this village to remind ourselves what we fought for.

Walking a couple of small steps I approached a building in ruins, dropping to my knees I picked up a piece of the rubble.

Memories of me and my brother growing up in this building threatened to resurface in my mind.

"RAHHHH!" I yelled at the sky tears streamed down my face

This pain I feel, this hollowness, this anger.

Is what keeps me alive, what keeps me going, it's what has shaped my life.

I will not rest until their realms look worse than my home!

"Brother, do you feel my anger!?" I yelled cradling the piece of ruble in my hand

Standing I put dropped the piece of my home on the ground and continued my walk. Each step, each glance, and each drop of blood fueled my desire once more.

Tonight was not the anniversary of my village, my HOME being destroyed. "hahahaHAHAHAAH!" NO THAT HAPPENED FOR SOMETHING AS SMALL AS A WINTER SOLSTICE CELEBRATION

No NO, it is the anniversary of the day two children vowed to do whatever it took to destroy our enemies.

I moved toward a small shrine, the only thing THEY left intact. I look at it every time I visit, "Soon," I whispered before moving on

Next, I visited the square. A giant pit was in the center, it was where we settled disputes. A small chuckle escaped my lips, my village was a lot more savage than others.

Come to think of it, the village was located in an odd area. Shaking my head I put those painful memories out of my head.

"Brother if you can hear me, I will see you soon," I whispered softly before turning around and making my way out

Stepping out of my magically concealed home I began to walk aimlessly a small smile etched onto my face.

Oh boy that small smile hides pain and and anger.

Trying to show Morpheus's madness he hides it so well though. Also, maybe something was up with his village who knows? I mean I do
