Chapter 224 - How to kill a demon 101 pt1

*Morpheus pov*

Cassiopeia did well with the Baron, truly I was planning to just kill him before I came up with the idea of bringing her along.

The Baron was an annoying individual, he was funding some of Voldemort's army with the intention of scooping up the rubble during the fall. A good plan if he wasn't so detestable.

"See that woman over there?" I asked Cassi gesturing over to the demoness hidden in plain sight

She nodded, "Who is she?" her question was a lot harder to answer than she thought

"We came to kill her!" I announced with a big smile

It was time for her to learn how to kill a demon.

She nodded, "Why?" she asked nonchalantly

This is why I like working with people like her Albud and his friends would worry over nothing shouting how murder is never justifiable.

I leaned in and whispered, "Shes a demon." I saw her body tense

"Truly?" she asked with fever and fascination, "She looks normal to me?" she wondered while stepping forward as if trying to find large horns

A chuckle left my lips, "Of course she does, that is what they call a husk a human they took over. It is sickeningly sad how they do it some give their body freely some are forced none understand the real consequences of such actions. We will be taking her off the board."

"They can do that?" she asked sharply in worry

I nodded, "Yes I've learned this is their newest method of infiltrating our home. I will make something for you and your brother to wear, it should alert you to any demonic, angelic, or godly signatures nearby."

She looked relieved before glancing over at the demon once more, "How are we going to do this?" she asked while looking around, "This doesn't seem like a prime place for assassination nor would it be easy to follow her back."

I nodded, "You're right, especially because normal tracking charms won't work on races such of theirs. The magic would dissipate before they left the building, which is why you are going to find a way to put some of this on her." I handed over a small vial of powder

"What is it?" she asked turning it over in her hand

"Powder made from the Silvara plant, it is usually used as a stabilizing agent for minor potions but in this case it will be used to track her. I can easily follow her aura but the powder will help get an exact location." I explained

She nodded, "How much?" she asked

"Just a little," I replied before sauntering away

I watched as she made her way from the crowd mingling with others as needed to not come off as suspicious. It was truly an art form watching her approach the demon, I forgot how talented the black family was at tasks like this.

She seamlessly passed by the demoness no bump, no charade just a pass and I knew it was done.

A tracking spell might dissipate but a scrying spell targeting the powder will not.

The powder was in place. Now, we waited. Cassiopeia returned to my side, her expression serene.

We rejoined the crowd and found ourselves swept into the rhythm of the ballroom. The music was slow, fitting for the decadent atmosphere of the gathering. Cassiopeia and I danced in sync, blending in, keeping up appearances. I could feel the tension in her body as she glanced every so often toward the demoness, who remained unaware of the trap we'd just set.

"How does it feel?" I asked quietly, our movements slow and measured.

"Which part?" she responded, her tone neutral but curious.

"Finally seeing proof of what you have read in your families tomes." My eyes lingered on hers, watching for any sign of hesitation or doubt.

She smiled faintly, her eyes glinting with that fierce Black family determination. "It feels…  different, but I haven't really seen anything yet, you could be fooling me Morpheus. You are a known deceiver."

I chuckled softly. "Good answer. You'll fit in well, provided you continue to navigate these waters as you have already shown. Trust me you will see very soon something you cannot deny as the truth."

Our steps continued, and the room around us blurred, the opulence and grandeur fading into the background as my mind focused on the task ahead. The demoness, still in her human husk, was speaking with a group of men near the far end of the ballroom, her movements smooth and calculated. Her disguise was impeccable to most—she looked no different from any of the other purebloods gathered here tonight. But I knew better. I could sense the faint, sickly aura of the demonic presence coiled within her like a serpent.

"You said you were going to teach me how to kill a demon," Cassiopeia murmured as we moved across the dance floor, her eyes still occasionally drifting toward our target. "When does that lesson begin?"

"Soon," I replied. "We follow her out of here. The powder will guide us. But remember, demons don't die easily. There are several methods Transfiguration is probably the easiest because of their natural resistance to charms and curses."

"Natural defenses?" she asked, her tone edged with anticipation.

"Races like demons practically breathe magic, their body is fueled with magic so when hit with a basic spell like stupefy the demon will absorb the magic." I grimaced slightly. "Thus why It's easier to use Transfiguration, of course charms and curses still work in the right hands."

The demoness began to drift toward the exit, her business at the gathering apparently finished. Cassiopeia noticed it at the same moment I did, her grip on my hand tightening. The air around us shifted slightly as the guests continued their revelry, none of them the wiser to what was about to transpire.

"Let's not make her wait too long," I said softly.

We broke off from the dance, moving casually through the crowd, nodding and acknowledging those who glanced our way but never pausing for too long. As we approached the exit, I saw the demoness disappear through the door. My eyes flicked to Cassiopeia, and she gave a small nod of confirmation.

Once outside, the night air was cool, and the silence was only disturbed by the occasional sound of distant voices from the ballroom. The demoness was already a few paces ahead, heading toward the darker, more secluded part of the grounds.

I whispered a word under my breath, activating the scrying spell, and the faint glow of the Silvara powder flared to life in the distance, outlining her movements. She had no idea we were tracking her.

Cassiopeia kept pace beside me, her hand brushing against the wand hidden in her dress. "What now?"

"Now, we follow her to where she feels safe, and we strike before she even knows what's happening," I said. "This is the part where you learn how to kill a demoness, Cassiopeia. Stay close."

She dipped into a carriage and we got into ours. We took off heading back to where we had taken off turning to Cassiopeia I smiled, "Tonight will be interesting Cassiopeia if I'm right she will lead us back to a group of them."
