EVELYN'S POV
It's been almost 2 weeks since I last saw Ethan and he invited me to his work place today to have lunch with him. For the last two weeks things has been really smooth between I and Eros. We greet each other in the morning and have breakfast together as well. At times he drops me to school on his way to work and he always makes sure to be home on time to meet up with dinner as well.
So far it's been good and I am positive that if things continue this way then our marriage will totally work out. It's 12:30pm and I am already done with my morning lectures. Ethan sent me the address of his new work place and he told me that their lunch break starts at 1 and ends at 1:30pm. So I decided to leave early so that I can get to the place on time.
I got to the building and saw Eros Corporations boldly written on it. Hmm the name sounds familiar, just like my husband's but I didn't read much meaning imto it. It then dawned on me that I have never asked Eros where he worked or what he did but I knew he held a high position in some big company. I made a mental note to ask him about his work over dinner. Before I entered the building I called Ethan and he told me to wait for him at their waiting room.
I walked up to the receptionist and I asked her where I could locate the waiting room, she first gave me a once over look before giving me the directions. Rude much I thought to myself before finding my way to their waiting room.
After a few minutes Ethan was down and he took me to their company's cafeteria. He ordered lunch and got two trays for us and we sat down and began to eat.
"The food here isn't all that bad, it is much better than the one we have at school" I muttered with food in my mouth.
"Yeah... but still people prefer to eat out that's why the cafeteria isn't packed at all" he replied me.
"You know the next lunch we will be having it at school since I have visited you here" I reminded him.
"No problem just tell me about it on time so that I would plan myself" he told me.
Few minutes into our lunch a familiar guy approached us with his lunch.
"May I join you guys? He asked us politely.
"Sure...why not sir" Ethan replied nervously while stuttering. He seemed uneasy and he equally called him Sir so I assumed that he might be his boss or superior.
Also the guy looked awfully familiar but I could not point my fingers at exactly where I met him.
"You don't seem to recognize me" the guy said while looking at me.
"Am I supposed to recognize you?" I asked him confused. Ethan on the other hand was making signs at me but I could not understand what he was trying to tell me.
"I don't mean to sound rude or intrude but how are you guys acquainted?" The asked asked again but this time the question was directed at Ethan.
"We have been bestfriends since childhood and she wanted to know where I was interning so I decided to invite her over for lunch" Ethan answered still nervous.
"Okay... since you guy have been bestfriends I guess you know her so well then so I can fully say this" he took a deep breath before he continued.
"My name is Ivan and we first met at your wedding Evelyn" he told me while bringing out his hand for a handshake. That was when I finally recognized him.
"You are Eros bestfriend I kind of shouted". "Wow it is nice to meet you again" I told him happy.
I haven't been really introduced to any of Eros' friends or family members other than his parents so I was really happy to meet this Ivan guy.
"So what are you doing here?" I asked him
"So you don't know?" He asked me surprised.
"Know what?" I asked him confused
"This is your husband's company" he told me. "Didn't you see the name of the company when you were entering?" He asked me yet again.
"WHAT!!!" Both Ethan and I shouted together. Which means Ethan wasn't aware either.
"Indeed I saw the name but he can't be the only Eros right? I mean there are a thousand of Eros out there" I answered trying to relieve myself of the guilt of not knowing my husband's company.
"True" he told me trying to hide how amusing he finds this
"Well I wanted to let you guys know before he comes down and find you guys here" he told us
"You know the kind of guy your husband is, he easily gets to conclusions when he is jealous and he acts rashly and later he regrets" Ivan completed.
"Jealous of what?" I asked the Ivan guy
"I am not doing anything wrong am I? I am just having lunch with my bestfriend that's all. Besides I didn't know he works here if not I would not be here" I told Ivan trying to justify myself
"I think you should leave" Ethan told me
"I would not have brought you here today if I knew your husband owned this place. Ethan completed.
"What does my husband owning this place has to do with me having lunch here with my friend" I asked them perplexed
"It has everything to do with it dear if you know your husband well" Ivan told me
"Evelyn seriously I think you should leave" Ethan told me anxiously.
"I just started interning here and I can't bear to be suspended or better still fired he told me nervously.
"Fine I get your point I am leaving already" I told them standing up.
"Being married should not stop me from having lunch with my bestfriend or any male friend at that" I told them angry.
"I totally understand you Evelyn but the male bestfriend in question is equally his employee so you have to understand as well" Ivan said trying to reason with me.
I left the company fuming and boarded a taxi back to school. That Ivan guy made it sound like I was cheating on my husband while it was clear that the relationship I have with Ethan is totally platonic eventhough I might have a crush on Ethan but he is definitely not into me at all. Besides I am moving on from Ethan ever since I said yes to Eros and I's marriage.
I can't be married and still have or carry another in my heart. I was raised better than that. I got to school and directly went for my afternoon classes. Once I was done I decided to do some grocery shopping before heading home. I called Mrs Teresa and told her not bother coming this evening to cook.
I wanted to cook dinner today, ask Eros about his work and eventually tell him everything that happened today at his work place before he hears it from someone else and misunderstand.
I got home and prepared Fried rice with lasagna. I checked the time and it was 7pm which means it was already time that Eros came back. I dished the food and waited for him to come back. Well it seemed like all I tried to avoid all these while was totally for nothing. Because Eros came back thundering at me while deathly drunk.
