In a Military quarters in a Joint Forces Base called or named Kolwat, and inside a brmarracks of the base is a particular soldier under a bunk bed reading a manga, found on the library of the base which interested him to read due to ts cover and description, then actually reading the thing.
His name.
is James Norvik.
A 29 years old dude that served for 5 years in the army and bearing the rank Sergeant or Sgt. he is known as a person who's always reading and watching anime and manga off duty or just doing nothing yet on the base
Norvik is reading a manga and mostly a nerd on some fantasy shit like lord of the rings stuff, and hell him being kinda annoyed along with other soldiers watching a damn movie of how modern forces are portrayed against fantasy world like how monster hunter movie is like a damn tank haven't fired a single shot on a dragon while the rest of the light armored humvees and buggies fires the 50. cals and 240 bravos and when those dudes got fucked by fire, that's when the tanks LOADS a tank shell when they know there's a flying lizard in front of them the time it took down a V-22 out of the air and doesn't have a tank shell loaded and makes the soldier's stupid by keep charging and knows the dragon was gonna spit fire on them.
Same goes for the walking dead about a damn sentinels on a tower can't see a big ass horde of zombies coming down a street and not retreating to the fortified building behind them but stands still and keeps shooting till the zombies gets close to them and eats their asses.
And on the top of the bunk bed is PFC. Ela harashi a 28 years old Japanese-American female soldier assigned to Norvik's bunk. And the barracks they're in has half females and males inside so she ain't a lone girl in it which the military allowed that, and a year younger than Norvik, and served for a whole year in the army, their relationship is kinda different since a NCO can date an Enlisted which is good news for the two and both were childhood friends.
Harashi was originally born in the US but after her getting our og her mother's... Well...
Her parents decided to go to Japan after that, and the time she reached 7 she was pretty fine on speaking English and yet her father works abroad, her father decided to move to the US and mostly stayed there till she reaches the age of 18 after graduating high school alongside Norvik since then and they were always on the same school.
And eventually graduated on Polinary arts and for Norvik, graduated in the US Military Academy, and he ain't the best. And for Norvik's reason for joining is pretty much in his fantasy after reading and watching GATE and figuring out its unrealistic for its ultra nationalism and portraying all three superpowers as power hungry shits or maybe other countries too weirdly.
Anf now for James he's getting finished on the manga he's reading sinc ehes on volume 3 the only avalable translated sent here and now he's going back to be pretty bored again.
And oh... wait he's done... Well... Now he's standing up from his bunk.
"What a volume" he said to his self as he closed the book and scratched the back of his head, while he looks around a little on what his other buds are doing especially their platoon Commander sleeping on a chair right next to the door entrance and the rest are reading books, drawing, and sleeping or staring at a wall.
He looks at the book cover for a while still wanting to see another translated volume on physical form but instead he decided to go to the base's library for any books he might get interested on reading.
"Hey, James" Harashi called him by his first name, as he turned his head around and looked at her laying down on the top bunk looking down at him.
"Yeah?" he asked.
"Where you headin?" she asked and she looked pretty bored by just sleeping reading checking her phone notifications and doing some random shit.
"Library, for any books that may interest me on reading" He answered while raising both his arms a bit on talking.
"Can I come with you?" she asked if she can go with him but still it's obvious he's fine with it.
"I don't know. You?" He then asked back but she expected a yes and no but still she's pretty tired of hik saying I don't know on a lot of occasions.
"You always say I don't know, well... yeah off course I'm gonna" She answered as she hops off the top bunk of the bunk bed as Norvik sighed.
"Alright then let's go" he said as he started walking to the exit of the barracks and a little while two solider jumped of their bunk and followed the two while 3 others is gonna do something funny stupid to their Platoon Commander sleeping on a chair.
The two exited the building where the other rbarrscks were, and hell they saw a lot of barracks outside and some soldiers taking a walk and some doing their usual tasks like some engineers and electricians fixing some shit up and some assigned on lawnmowing the outside grass of some of their barracks.
"Man some are having fun and some are not" he said as he watched a group of dudes lawn mowing the yard of their barracks.
"Uh-huh" she commented as the two continued on towards the library.
It only took them 3 minutes since it's just near them after walking and passing by some other dude's walking around and doing some stuff.
"Ah the only library of this big ass understaffed military base" he said as he smiled at the sight of the front entrance of the Library alongside Harashi.
"So, let's go?" Harashi asked.
"Yup" James answered as they both entered the Library. And first James heads over the counter to return the Manga he borrowed off the library while Harashi waits for him to finish.
"Yo I came here to return a book Madison and possibly borrow another one" he said to the Female Soldier that's the librarian of the big ass library.
"Yeah just leave it right besides me" She said as she was typing a lot on her PC, looking like a lot of paper work and looks like she barely got any sleep as Norvik leans on her side and then placed the book on a stack of presumably returned borrowed books. James placed the book and then walked back towards Harashi.
"Let's go browse" James said as he directly heads to the Fantasy section as Harashi chuckled and heads over to the History section.
Norkvik started browsing on the fantasy section to find some books that may interest him on reading. And for Harashi some history books or Romance stuff and maybe Fantasy.
And for James, something caught his eyes.... a lone book with no others but just in book saying the cardinal heroes or something which caught his attention.
"The four cardinal heroes huh, light novel shit with wamen? Doesn't sound like it" he said to his self as he grabbed the book and checked the front cover. And then flipped it to the back cover to look for any descriptions about it. But it's just blank except the front cover that showed four weapons which is a Sword, Spear, Bow and a Shield. And a shield is a defensive weapon.
James thought to his self that the book is kind of interesting but no cover on the back of it giving it no description but only the from part of it. He has seen some books with no description and back cover of it and when you start reading it, then it's actually good... But still he has some feeling that somethings off with the book.
But still he aint sure if it is worth the read or something is something about the book.
"Yo" Harashi then touched Norvik's shoulder without him knowing which caused him to jump.
"OH-Hesu Cristow man, jeez Ela you fuckin scared my ass" James said as Harashi chuckled as she got her hand off his shoulder.
"Whatchu got there" she asked on what Norvik got on his hand meaning what he book he has on his hand.
"A random ass book I found with no description and back cover, and it sounds interesting to read in my insticts and it's the only one here, no other copies of it just this one" He answered and explained to her as he kept looking at the cover.
"The Four Cardinal Heroes" she read the title and saw the cover.
"You think it's gonna be worth the read" She asked still unsure if it's worth reading it but still they haven't started reading it but who knows if the story is good.
"I don't know, cuz we haven't read it" He pointed out and then glared at her.
"C'mon let's take a seat" she said as they both stopped glaring as Ela started walking to the nearest couch in the library while James just follows her.
They were both heading to a couch till the end well.
Sergeant Tanner and Corporal Merrick jumped on both of them causing Ela to punch Tanner in the jaw.... And hopefully it's not broken or he lost any teeth from that. Sgt. Cole Merrick, an 29 years old African-American soldier serving for 3 years in the army and John Tanner, a 29 years old Hispanic-American soldier same serving year as Merrick. Both of them served in the same Unit and Battalion before being transferred to another battalion that's stationed in Joint Base Kolwat, they both be ane best buds since basic but both of them picked different courses in the military by Merrick being a rifleman and grenade and Tanner being a radio dude and tech guy.
"Supri-Ugh" he was cut-off after that hell of a. Punch in the face which caused Merrick to laugh silently and grinning pretty wide and covered his mouth in laugher as well as Norvik covered his mouth preventing his self from laughing.
"Ow bitch holy shihehet" he said in a little pain which got shrugged off with a little laugher which caused Hoshuko to smile and raised bother her hands indicating she's sorry or idk.
"Seriously guys" he asked kind off laughing a bit from what happened.
"Sorry man, we happen to be here at the same time you were both are too heh" he said which is a lie and actually the two followed them on the way to the library the whole time before the rest of the platoon pranked their Lieutenant.
"Ok heh, so dude what book do you have there?" Tanner asked as he pointed his finger at the book Norvik was holding on his hands.
"Fantasy book with no description and back cover that sounds interesting to me" He answered as he showed up the front cover of the book showing the Four Cardinal Heroes and including the back of it which was blank.
"Is it gonna be worth it?" Merrick then asked if it's gonna be worth the time of reading the book with little no information about it because of no description and back cover.
"I don't know" Norvik answered as he pinches the book on his armpit as the two dudes looks at him with an ok look, which is kind of awkward.
"Ok" both of them said in the same time as the two glared at him while Harashi just looks at the three glaring at each other.
"Then let's try reading it" Merrick then suggested as Norvik raised an eyebrow at him and nods.
"Oookey sure" he responded and the two smiled as they both took a seat on the nearest couch as well the two followed too but Norvik has to sit on the middle since he has the book on him.
And still Norvik has a bad feeling about the book and still he doesn't know why.
"Alright" He said as he got comfortable on his seat on the middle as he places down the book on a table in front of them.
Then he opens the first page.
"The fuck?" Cole commented since the first page of the book is empty and normally iylt gives out an introduction and sometimes mostly blank.
"Dude it's just blank" Tanner commented about the first page being blank, and hell some other book's first page is empty which pretty much sounded like he is complaining alreafy.
"First pages mostly has nothing on some other books like these man" Norvik pointed out a little annoyed.
"Have you ever read books?" He then questioned Tanner.
"I did but I haven't seen books with page one blank" He said and yes he's right. A lot of books has something on the first page, and meaning he has read books with mostly having something on the first page.
"Make sense, I actually saw you reading history quite frequent" he acknowledged his answer since he's seen him reading those books.
Norvik then turned to the next page which was blank too which made him wonder.
"What the fuck" he turned to another page and it was blank too. He placed his both his hands off the book and then.
A page flipped on it own.
The rest were surprised and hell there's no electric fans around them but just an air conditioner.
"Is it just me homie or the page just flipped on its own" Merrick asked the others if they saw it.
"Yup I just did"
"Same here bro"
"I did too actually"
All three answered his question all raising eyebrows.
Then the page flipped again.
And then again.
And again.
And its getting more quicker.
And then it's started floating.
"What the fuck!?" Harashi cursed as all four of them stood up and backed away a little from the book doing yee yee possessed shit floating
"Is that book possessed or something!?" Merrick asked as the floating book kept flipping pages and some light emmiteing from it.
"WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT LIGHT OVER THERE!" The military librarian Madison shouted in question about the light she's seeing behind the shelves which was where the four is. And as well a random soldier was interested in what's going on which he checked it out. The random soldier saw what's happening which shocked his ass.
"What the shit!?" the random soldier asked while looking in shock on what's he's seeing. Till some magical circle showed up under the four dudes except the one guy's who was watching of what's happening.
"What the fuck is this lords of the rings shit nigga!"
"I don't fucking know off course dude!" He shouted the answer back at him not knowing what's happening till a bright ass light engulfs them and their surroundings.
"OOOOOOOOHHHH FUUUUU-"

--Unkown Time--
"Ugh... What the fuck just happened James?" Merrick just groaned sounding like he just woke up as well as Norvik slowly opening his eyes.
"Ow fuck" Norvik said as he opened his eyes wholly as he felt a little pain all over his body.
"Oh shit your both awake!" a female voice was heard as Norvik raised his ass up on the soft bed he was in and touched some railing on the side.
"Whagtefuuug" is the word he said, more likely sounding like a drunk bastard. And the railing he touched felt like plastic or metal or something like that, as he looked on what his hand was touching. He saw a railing that's waht most of the hospital or medical ward's bed has.
"Wh-" his words got cutted off by a hand aggressively forced to look on his side seeing a female Military nurse's face
"Hold on soldier" is the words she said and pulled out a flashlight that's used for checking the eyes or something which she did to Norvik's eyes. Norvik grunted from the flashed light on his fucking eyes causing him to be blind a little which made him blink a lot.
The nurse checked his other eye too. And after the nurse got her hand off his jaw as Norvik immediately rubbed his jaw indicating of how she pulled his jaw to turn his face around to her pretty much like an attempt to rip his jaw off his fucking head.
"You feel dizzy?" the military nurse asked Norvik.
"No I'm not, and my jaw hurts from your fuckin hand" he answered which made the nurse smile at his answer.
"Heh sorry man" She said as she then walked towards to Merrick who was sitting down on the bed.
"I'm good, I'm good" Merrick raised his hand on her saying he's OK.
"No, let m-"
"I said I'm good home!"
"OK, then don't go on crying for me if anything hurts" the Nurse then walks away quite annoyed as she then checked on the other unconscious soldiers as she looked back at the two again.
"Sergeant, Corp, the LtG. Is looking for your asses and says it's urgent. Sounds like you did something stupid that caused all of this which doesn't make any sense since you and your buddies were inside the library" She informed as she got back to her usual tasks on caring on the soldiers, as the two dudes looked at each other.
"Aw fuck, come on Cole" he said and Merrick still processing the situation and of what happened recently but still he followed his ass. Thw two stood up and exited the room towards the hallway.
And upon exiting, they saw a hell lot of medics and nurses, doctors and shit all running around especially some soldiers carrying some guys bleeding or either unconscious. The two now knows their inside an MTF or Military Treatment Facility which was the Military Hospital.
And the two were just silent and just continued on the hallway searching for an exit for the building. Norvik already guessed what happened when they tried to read the book he randomly found and had a bad feeling with, and hell there were security cameras all over the place meaning the LtG and the security forces saw what happened and sent shit to the Lieutenant General to see. Meaning the LTG could be pissed at him.
They managed to exit the MTF by asking sine directions to the other personell which took them a few minutes. And the time they exited the hospital they saw a hell lot of soldiers on all the branches that was present in the base all armed and ready for an attack or something, especially seeing a bug ass dead bird which the two couldn't comment on about.
"The fuck did you just do?" Merrick asked and Nrovik gave him a bruh face and hell it's obvious him and the others opened it, and first off all agreed to read it with him too so meaning they're involved on his shit hole.
"What the hell do you mean me, we it's we, we were the ones you fucking opened the book" he pointed out in an quite pretty annoyed tone.
"Well fuck that actually make sense man" and yet he agreed with that which leading them to be silent, awkwardly silent.
And as well just keep walking. And after like 7 minutes off walking, they eventually arrived at the command center, or where they think the LtG is.
The two entered through the main entrance of the building.
"Yo Hector" he greeted the guard who was leaning on the side of the entrance which he waved in response. Another guard stood up from the counter near the entrance.
"Oh shit, James General's on his room waiting for you, he sounds angry" he informed him as he nodded sinc ehe already knew
"Yeah I know" he answered which the guard on the counter gave him a nod as he sat back down. The two continued on towards the stairs to head to the LtG's office.
The two was going up the stairs coming across numerous officers transporting files to officer to officer for something and shit and hell guards are everywhere too. They got to a floor up and actually walks through the hallways towards the Lieutenant General's officer which was up ahead and hell both of them are nervous at this time.
The two now got to the entrance of Liturenant General Hipper's door which they both stopped for a second.
"Let's hope something good" Norvik said as Merrick just looks at him.
Norvik opens the door and both enters the room seeing Hipper, Ela and Tanner all looking at a map on Hipper's table.
"Sir" the two stood straight and saluted as Hipper looks at the two as he sighed.
"Cut that shit kid and get over here" He orders to the two which they both stopped and then heads over the table. And there was two maps, one is their map locations around their base before and another map looking hand made and printed which was all green and no towns around them as he predicted inside his brain before. And hell he's having theory's of them being in some magical world or just the base being on a random location somewhere in the woods in earth, or maybe not.
"I've gotten reports at the checkpoints and gates of seeing plain green fields and forests all over us and lost all comms between our government and other bases, and right now they'll be panicking for our dissappearance since we're vital to the government and military, and a big ass bird attacking our guys and how in the FUCK did a book did some magical shit and brought our asses here!" Hipper shouted in question half pissed at the situation, which caused Norvik to widen his eyes and made his heart jump.
"I've seen you read some fantasy books meaning you may have recommendations on what to do, in a short explanation" he asked the sergeant as his buddies just looks at him.
"i would rather suggest Recconisance, Intel gathering and getting I contact with some local village or town, and if there is magic we could be half assed. And the recon should have at least an heavy vehicle like a tank and all equipped with Thermals because of people being invisible. And the chances of meeting up some local midieval soldiers could be corrupt and greedy which may cause us to shoot them" he explained which kinda made sense for hipper and the rest inside the room. The general thought about it.
"I'd say I agree with you, anyone outside could be shitty which could be possible" He responded at his answer which he then sits down on his chair.
"I'm gonna let you form up a unit for reconnaissance" he said which stunned the four. Forming up a squad and yet picking any guys to be in his squad.
"wh-"
"I said. For your unit and go for Recconisance" Hipper said again which was clearly obvious for Norvik
"Yes sir" he said as his friends exited the room as well he followed back.
"James" Hipper called him by his first name which made Norvik to turn to him.
"Just call me Hipper if it's just two of us... We have known each other for years since your father introduced me to you.... Now go do your job" he said since they both knew each other for a few years after his dad introduced him to him, and that makes Hipper an Uncle for James. Hipper grabbed some files on his table's drawer to start reading some shit in it which Norvik just looks at him.
Norvik sighed as he turned back to the door and exited the room. And outside is his friends waiting for him.
Hipper knew Jame's father well for being good buddies since childhood till military career and yet he died from his lung cancer since his dad had a habit of smoking a lot, which made Hipper to stop doing so too.
And yet he has to get back to business about the whole base's situation.
