Chapter 29 - Too Weak

"Hehe, the idiot must have noticed the death of his followers by now and must have understood that his target is being assisted by a powerful entity." Rylex chuckled to herself. Her face was vibrant and she was brimming with energy and excitement.

"…"

Syx turned her head to face Rylex, staring at the side of the goddess's face. Her glowing eyes flashed as she collapsed into the sea of thought, and in a flash, her expression went blank.

"It won't be long until he starts to feed me more of his stronger followers, each of them as a probe to guage my strength." Rylex rolled her eyes with a sneer, her aura was shrouded with arrogance and pride, "Unless some elder god were to make their move, even the god of death himself would he unable to stop me."

She was a bit pumped, and it showed with her not even trying to hide it. After a few seconds, she was finally able to calm herself and pick up her speech.

"If not for my inability to leave Jack here and just—" Rylex paused, her brows furrowing as she glanced at the frozen dragon girl with a stunned look on her face, "—Syx?"

"…"

The goddess was speechless, utterly and completely dumbfounded as she stared at Syx who stared back at her with empty and lifeless eyes. Being one who was very knowledgeable, Rylex instantly recovered from her daze and dragged Syx to the side.

"Eh? Huh, uh?" Syx who had broken out of her short moment of pause was stunned to see Rylex dragging her away by the wrist. She was a bit confused at first, but after a while her eyes widened in realization.

As soon as Rylex and Syx were dozens of metres away from their starting point, there was a crackling sound and followed by a loud bang was thunder! The thick and powerful lightening bolt, through the wind as it blasted directly into the ground.

Smoke rose from the crater created by the impact, and all the particles and large fragments of debris which had been cast into the sky earlier began to rain back down. After a few seconds, the rain of dirt finally stopped and the smoke began to fade off.

Syx whose wrist was still being held by Rylex was a bit dazed once more, her brows raised as she stared upon the area she stood on earlier. Looking up to the sky without sighting a single thunder cloud, Syx was completely stumped - and after a while she spoke.

"Oh, that…"

Rylex glanced at Syx out of the corner of her eyes, and was able to catch the livid expression of the dragon girl. Her brows raised, but she didn't speak a word, rather, she let out a soft sigh.

"We should go now, this place should be flooded by a horde of undead in a few minutes." Syx rapped as she began to take steps back, her brows creased as she glanced around with vigilance.

"But what's the rush?" Rylex smiled as she took a bold step forward, her aura brimming with arrogance as she raised her chin slightly. Her prideful voice was loud and clear, reverberating throughout the dark street, "Like I said before, even if he came down here himself, he still wouldn't be able to defeat me."

"But, Jack—"

"You can go back and watch over him for a few hours, and don't forget to keep your aura sealed as to not attract any more calamities." Rylex frowned after a few seconds, she could spot thunderclouds looming over them in the sky, each was just as huge as a car!

"But, you—"

"Of course I wouldn't take too much time, and of course I can just leave them be. I just want to take down as many of those creatures I possibly can."

"But!"

Syx raised her index finger, about to say something else but couldn't even after a few seconds. She simply stood there with her jaws hanging loose and index finger lowering slowly.

"Just get out of here and let me play a bit, I won't waste too much time with them." Rylex rolled her silver eyes as she let go of Syx's wrist and pushed the dragon girl away. Her frown grew into a sweet and innocent smile as she stared at the hesitant Syx.

Syx sighed, and after a few seconds of hesitation, she lightly stepped back, her feet seemingly landing on an invisible force that fired her into the air. As soon as she reached a certain distance away from the ground, she began to hover forward with her upper body inclined forward at a very fast speed.

"Look at her, big headed and indecisive little lizard…"

Rylex rolls her eyes once more before turning around lazily to glare at the pathetic creatures before her, she maintained the sweet and innocent smile she flashed at Syx earlier as she began to levitate.

"Ten… Nine… Eight…"

She began to count, her aura getting sharper as time flew by without the appearance of any enemy. Soon, she began to pick up pace and count faster with her gaze hovering upon a certain direction.

"Eight, Seven, Six, Five… Four… Three… Two…"

Rylex grinned, lifting her right hand to the sky as she glared at a certain spot before her. She kept her hand raised and gaze on that spot as she finally completed her short countdown.

"One… Zero."

As soon as her voice fell, the earth before her finally exploded! The explosion of dust, dirt and debris was no shock to Rylex who had swung her hands down without hesitation.

Her action, which seemed to be weak and slow, fired a terrifying claw attack in the direction of the explosion which hadn't cleared. The cause of it all, which should be some undead beast, was instantly shredded by the casual attack from Rylex - not even given a chance to resist or fight back.

Grayish blood and shredded rotten flesh flew into the sky as the dust cleared, dying the area in red as more monsters began to emerge from the earth. Each of them would be met by a single claw attack from the goddess, ending their lives before they could blink.

"Hmm? So weak… None are even good enough for me to play with…" Rylex seemed to be disappointed as she kept clawing at the enemy, her brows creased and eyes gleaming, "Weak, weak, weak…"

"Too weak…"
