After everyone submitted their final answers in their notebooks - a futuristic device that has two screens, and can open and close like a normal book - the maths teacher left the class and the next teacher walked in.
The teacher who was a male about 5.7 feet tall, cleared his throat before beginning the class on English with a stern expression on his face. He would smile anytime he got to a question and frown when he sees a student looking for trouble.
Time passed in a blink, and a bored Jack waited silently class after class whilst giving Rylex besides him strange glances with question marks all over his face.
When the electronic bell for lunchtime was ring, the current teacher wrapped things up before bowing to the class and leaving. She was their Chemistry teacher, a tall and slender blonde.
As soon as the teacher left, the excited students jumped off their seats and ran out of the classroom in a hurry. Each of them had heard to bell for recess, and most of them didn't want to spend even a second longer in the class.
Only Jack, and a few students including Rylex and Robert where left in the deserted classroom with raised brows.
"God, I've been yawning too much lately…"
Jack simply yawned and gave a lazy stretch before twisting his waist slightly and giving Robert who had also stood up a glance.
The bespectacled geek had begun to walk toward Jack in a hurry with the corners of his lips raised. His brows jumped when he saw Rylex, but he didn't open his mouth to speak.
"Jack, I'd like to-" Rylex stood up and was about to say something to Jack, but her sentence was cut off back Jack who lightly brushed past her.
"Excuse me…" Jack spoke in a soft voice as he gave Rylex an apologetic smile. He proceeded to walk away from her and towards Robert in the distance.
Rylex simply sighed, and turned around without taking a single step away from her current position. She gave Jack's back a frown with her brows raised, before rolling her eyes weakly.
The moment Jack got close to Robert, the geek grinned before opening his mouth to speak briskly,
"Building your own harem now, are you?" Robert hooked his arm around Jack's neck the second he could, he had a sheepish grin on his face as he added, "You horny dog…"
"Shut up, Rob…" Jack cursed the perverted moron before rolling his eyes and speaking in a soft voice as he pulled Robert away,
"Remember that game you told me about yesterday, I've bought it. It's cool."
"You haven't played it, right?" Robert asked without a change of expression as he lifted his brow. He knew Jack too well to discover when he was covering up a wrongdoing with a vague truth.
"Cough cough, your crush left home yesterday… When she left, I think I saw her leaving you a piece of paper…" Jack spoke before trailing off at the end of his sentence, a mischievous glint flashed in his eyes.
Robert who was calm and relaxed for a second seemed to fall into deep thoughts before suddenly widening his eyes as a realisation dawned on him.
Crush? Piece of paper?
"Jack you monster! Where's the note?!" Robert suddenly spat out spittle as he gave Jack a death glare - a four-eyed death glare! One could clearly see the fierce craziness in his eyes even though they were shielded behind his glasses.
"I'll beat you up if you dare try anything stupid with that letter!"
Jack was stunned. After many brawls in the past, Robert knew Jack was much stronger than him and the moron still dared to say such arrogant words?
Damn, Robert finally attained the famed balls of steel! Who said love doesn't make one completely irrational and dumb? Shit, this geek has lost his marbles!
Jack chuckled in his heart before dipping his right hand in his pocket and drawing out a piece of paper which was instantly snatched away from his hand by Robert.
"Read! Read! Read… Read?"
When Robert finished reading it, he felt as if he was doused in a cold pool of flowing water as all the flames in his head and heart died down instantly.
He simply stood with the piece of paper in his hands, only able to stare and stare without the ability to do anything else. His mind had frozen alongside his body.
"Hehe…"
After recovering, he raised his head and gave a dry chuckle, he's been tricked with the truth. The dark, painful and bitter truth.
This is one of the pains of having multiple crushes… Your heart will be crushed repeatedly without mercy.
The note read:
"Dear Robert.
It's me Fay, Jack's younger sister and your good friend. I wrote this letter to you to address something I've been housing in my heart for days.
Sigh…
You thieving bastard! I saw you sneak into my brother's room yesterday and leave with two loaves of bread.
You must remember the night we held a party, and I chased you out of Jack's room, right?
Though I don't know why you dropped a piece of paper, I want to inform you I accidentally tossed it into the fireplace out of anger. It wasn't intentional.
I wrote this to you, to warn you, that stealing from the Thomason family is not without it's own dangerous consequences.
Return the three loaves of bread immediately, you hoodlum! I'll send some people to visit you if you don't.
Your childhood friend - Fay.
PS:
Next time you steal our food, I'll throw you in jail…"
The letter was read completely in Robert's heart. The message of the letter was clear and resounding, echoing in his head.
Return the bread… Return the bread… Return the bread…
Robert took off his large glasses, rubbed his eyes for a second and sighed dramatically. He wanted to ask her out, and wrote it in a piece of paper that he dropped for her when they were alone.
This girl… whether she read or not, she broke his heart by tossing his affection into flames. He felt heartbroken.
Jack caught a quick glimpse of Robert's face without his glasses. The black haired guy was very handsome, but because of a problem he had with his sight, his charming face is always covered by those huge glasses.
"Gimme spoiler, did she really throw it into your fireplace?" Robert asked without placing back his glasses, raising one of his slender brows in curiousity.
Jack's eyes flashed with wicked amusement for a while, but he spoke out anyway.
"She read it, smiled, and ran off into her room with it… Don't worry, she has a personal fireplace."
Jack spoke with a grin, seeing Robert's satisfied face he rolled his eyes before speaking, "Better find a way to return those goods if you want to build a stable relationship… $10 per bread…"
"Well, it's a good thing cause I couldn't bring myself to eat trouble. The bread will be delivered later…" Robert wore his glasses again and suddenly realised something, "You said Fay left your house yesterday… Where is she?"
"Ah! She travelled with our parents outside the city for the business. I'm sure they'll be back this evening." Jack replied in a soft voice as he gave Robert a slight smile.
Robert rolled his eyes. Just when he was about to speak, he caught someone walking towards them and after seeing who it was, he smirked wisely.
It was Kayla walking towards the duo with swaying hips and a crowd of females gathered around her. Each of them were whispering, gossiping or giggling away.
Robert shook his head before patting Jack's shoulder and walking away. His last words lingered in Jack's head for a while, "Go get her, tiger."
Tiger? What the heck is wrong with this perverted fella? Did disclosing the news to Robert make him go completely nuts?
"Huh?"
Jack snuck a glance to the side and his heart raced! He immediately saw Kayla was elegantly walking towards him with a smile on her face.
Her minions flocked around her like stars around the moon, each and every one of them starry eyed. Each of them burst into praise when they saw Jack.
"Aw, Kayla's boyfriend is looking charming today! Look at his designer hood, I love those black shoes, can I get the name of the designer?"
"Big Brother Jackie is so cute, he's face is too perfect, his eyes are so dreamy, he's also very kind-hearted… Mwah! Perfect boyfriend material!"
Jack rolled his eyes at the girls who had suddenly flocked around him while fawning over him as if this was the first time they've seen him. He completely ignored them and beamed at Kayla.
The girls shrieked in ecstasy after seeing his smile. They were like crazed hyped up sport fans on drugs! Each of them seemed as if they had seen God appear before them.
"Such a perfect smile! Such a perfect face! Such a wonderful build!"
"God! Look at those fresh lips, just imagine what it would feel like being kissed by them… Our Kayla is just too lucky!"
Jack wanted to cry, but had no tears… Just thinking back to the first day he arrived at school he managed to calm down. At least they've improved.
When he first arrived, these girls wouldn't stop screaming and shrieking like banshees! Jack had to order his guards that escorted him to school that day to help him keep them away from him.
They were a whole lot calmer than now as they only screamed and praised without touching him inappropriately, and Jack was happy with their improvement.
"Hello Jack." Kayla said in a soft voice as she smiled in return, her eyes curved into crescents the moment she smiled and a dimple was created on her face.
Her calm and easy-going aura along with her cute demeanour made it difficult for a passerby to deduce she came from a powerful and well known family.
Jack felt his heart beating against his chest, but he was strangely feel guilty deep inside his heart… Was it because he lost his first kiss to that self-proclaimed goddess?
Or was there something else he was missing?
"Kayla, follow me… I'd like to introduce you to a friend of mine…"
Jack said as he ushered Kayla back to his seat with a soft glint in his eyes. He ignored the fawning comments of others around him as he guided Kayla to his seat where Rylex was waiting for him.
When Rylex saw Jack coming towards her while being surrounded by various unfamiliar beauties, she rolled her eyes and crossed her arms before her chest with a brow raised slightly.
"Kayla, meet Rylex. She's a friend I met recently, and I'd like you two to get along." Jack smiled as he spoke, when he noticed the fierce stares the two were giving one another he simply crossed his hands and waited.
He wasn't stupid enough to disturb these two in whatever they were doing. He simply watched with a bored expression on his face.
Soon, Rylex and Kayla broke the stare and the both of them extended their hands for a handshake. They shook hands and introduced themselves.
"Okay, now that introduction is out of the way… Who's hungry?" Jack said in a soft voice after seeing that the two girls had introduced themselves. He was getting slightly hungry now.
Jack's stomach grumbled in protest to his hunger, and like a chain reaction everyone's stomach grumbled soon after.
"Ahahaha…"
Rylex and the others burst into an awkward laughter after that, and Jack joined in.
This is so embarrassing…
