"After Ren was discharged every thing had gone to normal. Well, normal as an academy that makes children fight could be. While Ren was resting in bed, Violet was busy scouting: A girl that used her knuckles to fight and always wore a single lime dress, and a long tall skinny guy that kept a couple of short swords in his belt.
Ren without choice accepted this endeavor, still shaken by the fact he had left a man to die. He had learned after his discharge that the bullied did not make it out, unlike a movie or novel death was fast and unyielding, no matter how much his spirit didn't want to give into such sorrow.
That stuck to him like a sponge.
Sage and Hazel were on their endeavors as well recruiting the rest of the team, but Sage was hesitant to talk to either Ren or Violet as he seemed to believe he made a mistake, he was trying to help really since he would just be a burden. So they were just able to recruit another outer like them, a boy who hid behind fake glasses, he was naive but he was quick-witted and knew the point.
The wars were starting and Sage lacked a member"
Ren and Violet entered the enchantment class puffing out their chests, as they had been training for days and weeks, with blood and sweat for this.
They took their seats as the whole class went quiet, as they knew what was to come.
As the day drew near and everybody was racking their brains together, Ren was not worried, as he was stronger than ever.
The teacher entered through the door with a grin on his face and blood in his thoughts. Ready to work everybody to the bone, in brain and body, as he took everybody as weak in his eyes.
"Children, the time draws close. Yet all of you look so weak, only some of you have the right spark, are you sure you leisured a perfect time?"
As he used all the fanciest words he could, the class stopped and did the most trusty thing they could to the demon.
"Yess Mister. Bleak"
The class rolled with their eyes, as they huffed and puffed, having to say yes to the devil himself. Everybody was in synch other than the backseaters, they hummed a rap, cursing into the teacher's presence.
"But like why? I mean it is about fighting and we're already strong" He said crossing his arms, contemptuous by his mistake.
The others stayed quiet, thinking of how ignorant and naive he was.
Well, today Mr.Bleak didn't want any of their shenanigans, as he quickly analyzed their weakness; They had burn marks, a sign of overusing molecules and bacteria, and bones swelling begging for a good meal. Other than that they were skinny as a fly, yet they dared try hand-to-hand combat in their preferences.
"Well, Can I perhaps get a reason why they're so weak?" Mr.Bleak giddily said.
This was something nobody would normally laugh at but...
The class couldn't hold it back; As laughing and cheers echoed through the corridors, Violet and Ren fell to it as well. This wasn't funny but the way the teacher didn't even hesitate was Shankings gold.
The greasy green-haired boy was heating up, like a microwave seeing the reaction. Has he ever been this belittled? Well not by a teacher at least, unlike a normal school here they had the power If they so wished he would be on the ground.
A dog barked outside, reacting to the laughter that came from the classroom.
As Ren looked out the window being the first to shut up, tapping his finger on why was it so immediate. It was fair to say he hadn't recovered, don't get me wrong not because it was not because of some saving fetish, it was because he felt empty when he didn't feel a thing hearing the news.
Somebody had just died... But why didn't he care? I mean he did not know him well but still it was weird to him, he felt if a dog or hamster died he would feel worse than how it was right now.
In his head a cyan light was fading away once again, the glow that was recovered once again fell ill at such thoughts.
...
Ren's forehead buried into the plastic-like cafeteria table, not having the glee to even get himself food. He felt no pain but he felt like something was endlessly poking him; He felt something he couldn't cross over but he didn't care at all.
If being scared of not being scared was a thing, right now he had that phobia.
Violet cracked down the food for their newfound team, Ren still buried in the table gave a concerned look as she thought "Everything is going way too fast", his old personality was nowhere to be seen and she knew why your personality would change so fast.
She knew very well...
Hail and Blaze screamed at the feast, but Ren stood silently, making Violet turn away her head.
She threw the plates at the table leaving without a word, leaving the other 2 members to speculate while Ren didn't move.
"Damn it all"
Ren whispered to himself, counting the other 2 on the table as paperweights. As he stood up finally leaving without biting a single piece of food, he had to get things to the right pace.
Everything was going too fast.
"I have to sort out whatever I currently have, we have 4 days for christ's sake."
Ren jerked his hands in his uniform, tired of acting fine, he was ready to throw down to get rid of this feeling.
'Kai...'
A voice cried in his head refusing to stop, making him go insane, it was not enough it wasn't anything could be he was dreaming...
"I refuse to play your game... Now let me wake up"
He had to be on the train, days passed without him living... He was stuck in a dream, all of this was impossible... And he was right.
"...A bug..."
He woke up on the train when seemingly a few hours had passed since takeoff. Crushing the red bug with all his might: There was a lot of indications when the object didn't have a feeling, or neither was he ever shown sleeping it just cut into something else.
His mind was trying to be taken over, and now his journey started.
/Authors note/
At first, I was thinking of ending the prologue in a few chapters... But then I realized after waking up from a dream after learning it was one that was suddenly without explanation.
So I shall tell you the name of the first arc!
"The Game Of Dreams"
...I look down at my phone, seeing the alert.
"Wow what a crap name"
I star at the golden ring, as I examine it with a lazy eye -- Before I equipped it... I never had those dreams, just what was it?
