Chapter 60: The Sword Monster!!!
Some members of the crowd started to discus;
"Is that a sword?"
"He is definitely holding a sword"
"l heard that Void assassins are normally difficult to deal with but with a sword, they are invincible under the heavens. How in the world is the Fire King supposed to face off against that? He would be killed"
"l learnt that Xavier Xu once cut a boy in half and walked away without being punished or harmed, the parents of the boy could only weep with no one to grant them justice"
"He might just kill the Fire King and get away with it, after all, he is a void assassin, they protect their own even if the person in question is at fault"
Gossips broke out as people stared at Xavier Xu with the sword in his hand, sheathed but breathtaking to behold.
For this match, there were two commentators, the usual commentator Mr. Stone and a new one who was placed there on the match day, Mr Cum.
Mr. Stone spoke quickly as he glanced at the approaching Xavier Xu, "Is that allowed for this match? These are kids, have they turned this into a life or death battle?"
"Mr. Stone, the Fire King was allowed to use all his advantages, shouldn't the void assassin bring along their best means of displaying their full strength, besides, what kind of win would this be if the void assassin wasn't at his top game? Furthermore, there is a referee present to step in if need be, I think no problems would be there as regards safety."
The Second commentator, Mr. Cum responded with a smirk, in his heart he longed to see Lancelot Jr injured or better still killed, and now that there was a huge possibility of that becoming a reality he would not mind openly ensuring that the rules were bent for this reason.
The crowd who were initially opposed to the presence of the sword now nodded in agreement, to them, what the commentator said was correct so they didn't refute it any longer, nor did they care, they just wanted the match to commence.
Cameras were everywhere, reporters were also doing their work, and the atmosphere was lively
By this time both Lancelot Jr and Xavier Xu were both in the ring.
"Gabriel Li versus Xavier Xu in the ring, the Fire King versus the Sword monster, the showdown is about to begin, you should also know that if the fire King wins this match, he would become the first dual Champion in history for both level 1 and level 3 elemental class. However, if he were to lose, then he would just be the champion for level 1
Mr. Stone spoke excitedly but his tone dropped at the last sentence.
To the left side of the stage, were void assassins who stood with stoic expressions; almost like they were indifferent or had no reaction for what was going on.
Xavier Xu looked towards where they stood and gave a thumbs up.
An older Void assassin who looked to be in level 4 used his wrist with his thumb moving along his neck to pantomime a cut-throat expression, as he mouthed, "Kill him". His statement was drowned out by the noisy crowd but Xavier Xu managed to grasp the message.
Lancelot Jr noticed the message too but instead of fear creeping up his mind, he was very confident,
"l have a lot to fight for in the future and people to protect, I can't afford to be weak, I need to grow, this match would also improve my combat abilities.." He spoke to the spirit speaker.
"You need to be careful, the void assassins have chosen to kill you, you need to know that they are unlike other elementals,"
"They cannot be injured by piecing their bodies, their only bodily weakness is their head, any form of attack on their head can gain you an advantage."
"More so, if you have awakened your blood-controlling element, unique to the Blood nation, you would have a higher probability of an easy victory. Nonetheless, don't take him for granted, that sword can dice you in half"
Both Lancelot Jr and Xavier Xu were staring at each other waiting for the referee to start the match.
As if on cue, the referee moved to the middle of the stage and spoke lowly so that only the two fighters could hear;
"Whoever suppresses their opponent to the point where they can not launch an attack wins, the only exception is if the opponent calls for surrender or yields,"
"3,... 2,... 1 ..., start...."
Xavier Xu was licking his lips as he swung his sword and started to move cautiously around the stage, Lancelot Jr also got into a fighting stance as he released flames all around his arms.
In the entire class 1, they all acknowledged that Lancelot Jr had the greatest control over the fire element and they had even come to him for pointers,
He promised to give them after the match with the void assassin. Some of the class 1 members thought he was arrogant.
Some even felt that he won't survive the match, either way, they all gathered to watch what would be a thoroughly entertaining match.
"Hey Void brain, stop dancing and attack"
Lancelot Jr shouted, the crowd was loving it,
"Fire King",
"Fire King"
Fire King" the shouts erupted.
Lancelot Jr didn't know how exactly to attack this opponent, but he had to push him to a point where he would explode and force out his own counter skills.
There was a deep frown on Xavier Xu's face, he hated the word 'void brain', to him, it was an insult to his entire nation, what he hated the most was that the last element King was from the Fire Nation, so he had an even greater hatred for Lancelot Jr.
He had been brainwashed from when he was much younger about the tyranny of the element King and how he almost wiped out the void assassins as a nation, he took this to heart and always attacked mercilessly any fire nation member that was unlucky enough to cross him, with the backing of his other members he always got away with it, even to the point of murder.
He struck out at Lancelot Jr with his sword at full force.
"Wswish.. "
He narrowly missed Lancelot Jr, as the sword ended up landing on the spot where Lancelot Jr was formerly standing.
Lancelot Jr couldn't catch his breath as Xavier Xu came at him again.
At this point, the spirit speaker spoke;
"Remember the fluid motion I taught you, water is one of your core skills, use it and you would be able to fend off sword attacks easily, let your mind be as calm as the seas and spread your
spirit sea consciousness out there.."
Lancelot Jr's mind sparked as the memories came flooding into his subconscious,
"Mind as clear as the calm seas, movement like fluid",
Lancelot Jr chanted quietly as he readied himself for the incoming sword attack.
He turned at such an odd angle, even the provoked Xavier Xu was surprised.
The sword swung over the entire surface of Lancelot Jr's body without connecting even in the slightest.
He felt like fluid, moving so elegantly and dodging without exerting too much strain.
' Void Brain is that all you got or is your brain just void of any other ideas". Xavier Xu's face now became reddened from rage.
He jumped up and used his upper feet to hit Lancelot Jr at the back of the head and used the other leg to connect from the front, "l will kill you today" he roared.
Lancelot Jr, felt the pain from the hit as he stumbled,
"Why did you allow him to hit you?" The spirit speaker asked not expecting the move by
Xavier Xu to be successful,
"I planted something on him" Lancelot Jr responded.
Over there at the commentator stand, the other commentator Mr. Cum, was excited,
"Finally, a gorgeous kick from the Sword monster, this useless King can't keep dodging forever, he doesn't seem to have any tricks up his sleeve, wait, is that fire?... "
As Xavier Xu connected with a kick to the back of the head of Lancelot Jr, Lancelot Jr had already seen the move and allowed for it to happen so he can lodge fire on the abdomen of
Xavier Xu.
Xavier Xu screamed out in pain as the fire enveloped him, he had to lose his attire leaving just his underpants and a singlet.
There was a wide range of laughter, even Mr.
Stone couldn't help himself,
"From Sword monster to captain underpants, I like the new development" the crowd was laughing, you'd think it was a comedy show.
"Void brain decided to strip for us", Lancelot Jr added as he rubbed the back of his head from the lingering pain.
Xavier Xu had burn marks on his skin, but what hurt him the most was the embarrassment.
The hundreds of viewing cameras were presently focused on him, he was battling with his mentality.
Suddenly he just snapped and launched at Lancelot Jr like a crazed maniac, swinging the sword mercilessly without pattern or rhythm, just a blind display of rage.
