Chapter 31 : Kendra Awakens!!!

Forest Nation...

***

Back at the forest nation, the elven king stood before Kendra's unconscious body.

He glanced over it slowly, he then knelt so close to her face, tilted her head, and poured some sort of medicinal fluid into her mouth.

He had done this continually at the same hour every single day since Kendra's body was brought there.

He had always been attracted to Kendra since the last time she rescued him from the jaws of the air nation soldiers during the last major war a millennium ago.

That was why she was the only one he gifted the sacred pendant of the forest nation.

He could sacrifice his life for her. She meant too much to him.

As he stared at her, he flashed back to the young man he saw when she was first brought.

On his face, there was a longing gaze with which he stared at her, a gentle jealous rage started to build up within the elf's mind.

He didn't know when he subconsciously broke the porcelain bowl from which he fed Kendra the medicinal fluid.

He got up abruptly trying to control himself.

It was at this time that all of a sudden he noticed a shuffle, as Kendra struggled and sneezed.

She then slowly opened her eyes.

At that moment, nothing else mattered anymore to the Elven King, 'Kendra was awake'.

"How do you feel?"

The elven King asked with a little bit of agitation.

Kendra took some time to adjust her eyes to the light, her body was reeling with pain from staying in the same position for a long time.

She could feel her sides being sore. The medicine had helped her to recover some of her strength and healed her internal injuries.

She just needed time to fully adjust. She then saw the face from which the question was asked;

"Nosu"

She screamed as she hugged the elven king who hugged her tightly. "It's been ages, How did I get here?"

Kendra asked confused,

Nosu looked at her with a longing gaze he then explained how she was brought and how he closed the entrance of the forest nation to prevent them from being discovered by the air nation.

"He is the chosen one, he was the one responsible for ending the war, you shouldn't have locked him out..

Kendra tried to reason with the elven King but she soon discovered that the elven King before her was different from the one she knew.

This one was puzzling and he had a look of anger hidden beneath his calm demeanor.

"I need to see them!" Kendra continued with a determined gaze not minding Nosu's disapproval.

Nosu started to speak in response, "Kendra, I have not seen you in a millennium, last time I saw you, you did everything to rescue me before leaving, later I heard rumors that you were dead,"

"l cried so hard, I was not myself for many months but somehow I survived, only for me to receive a signal of your presence outside the borders of our nation some days ago and to see you lying unconscious with a group of fire and other element soldiers."

"Of course, I would be very protective of you. So please rest a few days and I will allow you to see them" He completed.

Kendra wanted to argue but she knew he was right, she felt weak so she had no choice but to rest a bit, and as soon as her back touched the comfortable bedding material on which she laid, she fell into a deep sleep like it had been planned.

Back in the human world...

***

Lancelot and Baldwin Raymond both arrived at his place where he planned to get some of the materials for disguise, and some clothes he could give the others to camouflage in.

Immediately after they arrived, they noticed the heat signatures of people around.

Lancelot had more elements under his control so he could also sense some life force from people hidden in strategic positions, ready to attack from their vantage positions.

Both Lancelot and Baldwin shared a look and both smiled wickedly at the same time.

Lancelot called on the power of the wind, he then made it to a dispersing pull. Baldwin also added a raging heat wave to accompany the wind.

It immediately resulted in the drawing away of air, creating a partial suffocating vacuum within the area that the hired assassins hid.

Unable to bear the suffocating pressure, they made their positions known as they came out of their hiding places, gasping for breath but to no avail, they died within seconds.

Both Baldwin and Lancelot did a high five as they walked straight for the door. Suddenly something startled them that made them stop in their tracks, they felt a formidable aura, even Lancelot was scared of that aura let alone Baldwin Raymond.

A voice then spoke out of thin air,

"When I was sent to capture a trouble maker, I wondered why someone would pay such a huge amount of money for my services,"

"l mean most of my men could handle any threat with ease, but seeing how you killed all the men I brought here, I could now understand why I was hired. You guys have outstanding capabilities, unfortunately, none of you would leave this place alive"

Both Lancelot and Baldwin were on their toes at this point, with their alertness at its peak.

Baldwin suddenly used his heat signature ability to try and locate the mysterious individual speaking but all efforts were futile.

Unexpectedly, out of a hidden area to the left, a man dressed in all black assassin overall, with a mask on his face came out.

He removed the mask to show his absolute confidence. "You guys must be elementals, it's a pity you met a void Assassin."

The title~ 'void assassin' stuck out to Lancelot the most.

He remembered his parents used to scare him as a kid with the word 'void assassin'. They were even scarier compared to the air nation.

Void assassins were supposed to be the 9th elemental nation in the elemental world, but because of their ability, the gods of other nations cooperated to eliminate them.

They were immune to elemental control and as such could easily take over all other nations, the threat they posed was akin to that of a god, yet their existence was a mystery as they had no guardian or protective god like other nations

They do have a god but he wasn't known. He had hidden himself so well that all records of him seemed to have been lost.

The void assassin had only one weakness, which was their head. As long as nothing touches their head, they could keep fighting till they were exhausted, and their stamina was plenteous.

They had been killed to the point of extinction, so seeing one now was like seeing a legendary tale in a human form.

The void assassin smiled, "Judging from your look, I think you know which nation I belong to, for so long I've suppressed and kept my anger for the element nation, how lucky was I to run into you lot, you would be the beginning of my vengeance on what your people did to my kind".
