Chapter 53 - Episode 53

Episode fifty three

Bonding

Lucy is in her bedroom tossing around in confusion and frustration, she just came back two hours ago from the Adams's mansion.  She tried listening to music and even singing but those proved abortive. A knock on the door, she tells the person to come in.

Mrs Green: Lucy!

Lucy: Mom, welcome

Mrs Green: Hope you're good (Lucy nods)

Well, Gina is having problems with meeting up in school, you know, she didn't begin with them from the start.

I want you to help her go far.

Lucy: I don't understand mom.

Mrs Green: Good, she will be here with you soon. I will tell the cook to make chicken for you and Gina.

Lucy: I will love that mom, thank you.

Mrs Green: (Goes closer to her daughter and kisses her forehead) You have always been obedient, you never rebel or disappoint us, even as an only child.

Thank you dearest

Lucy: I don't like this mom, I'm your child and I'm doing what a child should do for her parents. You and dad have both been loving to me, performing your duties in all ways, I just have to make you guys happy and to know that you are not doing it in vain.

Mrs Green: (Hugs her daughter) I will call Gina for you.  (Leaves)

Lucy: (Smiles) Hugs really help

Gina: (Comes in) Big sis, you're back!

Lucy: Yeah, I came back two hours ago.

Gina: What's bothering you? (Locks the door and sits on the bed, Lucy sits too)

Lucy: I can't lie to you, you will read my mind anyways. It's just that I'm confused

Gina: Kris?

Lucy: Yeah.  He confessed his feelings to me but it's actually acting. I just don't know.

Gina: Well, I know. He loves you!

He's just trying to see if you love him too. He's scared of being let down

Lucy: Kris, scared! Lol!

The king of girls, scared!

Gina: You never may know. Some guys are shy underneath

Lucy: You should be studying right now, not talking about boys. Bring the pad let's learn

Gina: Girl! I'm super smart. I can catch up on time, plus I can just read the mind of the teachers and know what questions would be set.

Don't worry about me

Lucy: Now I wish I had your gift. (They laugh)

Gina: So, just walk up to Kris and tell him you like him. What's the worst that can happen?

Lucy: You think I should?

Gina: Yeap

Lucy: Alright, I will

Gina: When? Not soon, tomorrow

Lucy: You read my mind again. Fine! Tomorrow

How do you know much about boys?

Gina: Um, I read minds?

Lucy: (Chuckles) Of course

(Knock) Who's there, come in

Uncle Thomas: (Enters) How are my girls?

Gina: We are fine

Uncle Thomas: Are you okay, Orange? You know, you can talk to me anytime if you feel like talking to an adult and your parents are not around.

Lucy: I am fine, uncle. I don't need to talk about anything

Uncle Thomas: Oh okay. I just want you to know that I'm always here for you

Lucy: I know.

Uncle Thomas: Later girls. (leaves)

Gina: Shake it off girl. He means no harm and can never hurt you. Stop having the shivers.

Lucy: Alright

At Becca's house

Becca and Brown are having dinner with Tabitha. Lisa is in school.

Tabitha: So Brown, you said your father died and it's your mom and you?

Brown: Yes Ma'am

Tabitha: I'm sorry about that

Brown: There's nothing to be sorry about Ma'am, he didn't live with us, he was always traveling due to business. I never got to spend time with him, so I don't miss him much, I miss him but not like that

Tabitha: Oh, that's understood.

Becca's dad died too. On a trip actually. It was a plane crash.

Brown: Becca told me, my condolences.

Tabitha: We have been living with it

Becca: So…, how's your mother?

Brown: She's doing fine back in Nigeria. Hopefully, when I graduate and get a good, decent job, I will fly her here to NYC to spend a few years here, then back to Nigeria to stay together.

Tabitha: How do you plan that?

Brown: By international business, I will make connections between NYC and Nigeria and try to get posted in Nigeria finally. It won't be easy but I will try.

Better to try and fail than to not try at all

Tabitha: That's good. Well planned life!

Brown: Thank you, Ma'am.

Becca: So you're a business student?

Brown: Yes.

Becca: Then what are you doing in Arts class?

Brown: I get asked these questions most times. It's an International sports business.

Becca: Oh, that's gonna blow. I mean, it's gonna make you rich and famous. (Brown smirks)

Tabitha: Are you both in a relationship?

Becca: No!

Brown: Not at all, Ma'am

Tabitha: Or you both have a crush on each other?

Becca: Mom!

Brown: No, Ms Tabitha

Tabitha: Mrs Tabitha

Brown: Mrs Tabitha. We're just friends and nothing more, no attractions, nothing.

Becca: We were just drawn together, like we were friends from another life or something.

Tabitha: Well, that's good.

Sometimes, our spirits agree with other people, there's like a connection or something.

Becca: Yes Mom

Tabitha: (Stands up) I'm full.  I will be in my study

Brown: Thank you for the meal Ma'am. (Semi bows)

Tabitha: (A little perplexed) You're welcome.  (Aside: My husband used to do the same thing and he looks just like him when he was young)

Becca: Sorry about that. Mom embarrasses me a lot

Brown: It's normal

Becca: Don't forget about your teaching me how to prepare African salad

Brown: Sure, I won't.

(Five minutes later) Your father's documents. You said it was with you..

Becca: Yes, with my mom though. She keeps it in a special place, no one knows. She said she will bring them out at the right time.

Brown: That's great!  But what if you need them now, how can you take them?

Becca: I don't need them so I won't take them. When mom thinks it should be brought out, then it will be brought out.

Why ask these questions?

Brown: Oh nothing. It's just that… I…

Becca: C'mon, you can talk to me

Brown: My dad's properties were seized by some wicked people. I have to get them but I don't know how.  Even if it takes me years, I will get them!

I'm just asking these questions because one of the enemies is a woman and you are a woman, so I kinda want to know where women would want to put valuables so that I can hatch a plan of taking it from her.

Becca: Some women keep their valuables in the bank but my mom doesn't. Dad taught her to put some things that are more valuable in a place other than a bank.

Brown: That's nice.

Becca: And you can never know where it is. Ever!

Brown: I like that. I mean, your mom being secured and all

Becca: Yeah

Brown: (Aside) I will take everything, everything from you, no matter what it takes. Even if it takes killing anyone!

Becca: Are you okay?

Brown: Sure, I'm fine

Becca: You went quiet for some time but okay.
