Episode thirty two
Bastard
Mr Potter drives Lucy to the bar where Kris was. He drops her and drives away on the promise that Kris isn't drunk and will take her home.
Lucy enters the bar, ignoring everything and everyone around her and starts to look for Kris. She immediately sees him and goes to sit with him.
Lucy: Kris, let's leave
Kris: I came here an hour ago, I'm not ready to leave!
Lucy: What happened Kris? Why did you come here to get drunk?
Kris: Mrs Adams! Her foolishness!
Lucy: Let's go to the car, we will talk there
Kris: (Gulps down a cup of wine) I'm not going anywhere! I'm staying here!
Lucy: You are drawing attention to yourself
Kris: These people here don't speak, they won't post anything about me being here. (Tries to pour wine into the cup)
Lucy: (Takes the wine from him and gives it to the bartender) Whenever he comes here, don't ever give him strong drinks,
If you do, I will arrest you and sue you with everything you've got
Am I understood?
Bartender: (Afraid) I will never serve him strong drinks, Ma'am
Lucy: Good.
(Tries to raise Kris up) Kris, let's leave here and go home
Kris: I am not going back to that place!
I am not going home!
Lucy: How about I take you to my house?
Kris: Okay!
Lucy: But you will have to stand so that I can support your movement, I can't carry you. (Kris stands and Lucy supports him to his car amidst his staggering)
I am driving. (She takes the keys from his pockets and puts him on the front seat)
Kris: You can't drive
Lucy: I can,
Remember when I took your car?
Kris: Ah!!
Lucy: Fasten your seat belt. (Kris ignores her)
I will just do it for you. (Fastens his seat belt then begins to drive)
So, why did you get drunk?
Kris: Your eyes on the road!
Lucy: My eyes are on the road, silly
Kris: Then shut up!
Lucy: You are highly drunk
Kris: (Begins to feel sleepy)
Lucy: What happened? Why the sudden call then and you getting drunk now?
I'm curious and concerned, Kris!
Kris?? (Sees him sleeping)
I guess my answers are for later.
At Lucy's house
Lucy takes Kris to the guest room and lays him down on the bed.
Lucy: So heavy! I bet I lost 20 pounds by carrying him here
Kris: (mutters)
Lucy: Kris? Diego?
Kris: Mother! Mother, you can't die!
Lucy: (goes close to him and holds his arm) Diego, are you okay?
Kris: (Wakes up at once and starts crying)
Lucy: (surprised as it is the first time seeing him cry) Diego?
Kris: That's what she used to call me when I was little
Lucy: She?
Kris: (Gets up and hugs her) I don't want to lose her!
I don't want her to die!
Lucy: (Pats him confusedly) She's not gonna die. She will be alive and healthy for you.
Kris: That's not what the doctor says, she's dying anytime soon due to lung cancer.
It's all her fault!
No, it's my fault, I saw her doing all these and I didn't stop her!
Lucy: Your mom? Mrs Adams?
Kris: Yes Lucy, yes
Lucy: Oh my!
Kris: (Disengages from the hug).
I love her Lucy, I love her so much
I just pretended as if I didn't
Lucy: I know you do, I knew you did.
Kris: It's just that I wanted to punish her for what she did to me by making me live with some lady and making me think that Katherine was my mother!
I became a street child, a gangster
You know, the year we came to New York, that was the same year I met her, that was when I actually met my birth mother, her!
Lucy: I don't understand what you are saying
Kris: Mrs Adams gave birth to me but because she didn't need me at that time, she gave me to a poor Katherine who on her death bed begged her to take me back.
It was then, I knew her as my mother. She apologized but I felt so much hatred and wanted revenge.
She showed me so much love but never gave me attention and care, she allowed me to continue my life.
My life of smoking and gambling and…
Lucy: And what?
Kris: (Holds her shoulder) I started smoking at the age of seven! Seven!
If it weren't for you and Becca who made me give it up, maybe I did die too
Lucy: You are confusing me, Kris
Kris: Mrs Adams also smokes, since she smokes, she allowed me to even her husband, my step father smokes too
When I stopped, I would have make her stop too but I didn't
And now she's going to die!
Her husband is fine, I am fine but she is going to die!
Did you know that she left me with Katherine so that she could become a star and fulfill her dream?
She eventually married Mr Adams after reuniting with me, since she already had twins with him, the twins were one year old then.

Lucy: Should I get water for you?
Kris: Her own name is Katherine too.
I love her, but I just wanted her to feel the pain of what I suffered! I just wanted revenge, that's why I never acknowledged her as my mother!
But now, she is leaving!
Lucy: You can still show her love before it's too late..
Kris: Yes, that's what I will do!
I will make her die happily!
But… but I can't believe that she's dying! (Begins to cry again, Lucy hugs him)
Lucy: Don't worry Kris, it will all be fine!
(Kris snores)
Asleep already. (Lays him on the bed and covers him with the blanket, up to his stomach)
Let me get water and put it down here for him, in case he needs it.
(Leaves)
At Kare hospital
Mrs Adams can be seen asleep as it is night time, the twins too are asleep on separate beds in the same ward with their mother. Mr Adams however is seen talking to himself
Mr Adams : I can't believe that boy left his mother!
Such an ingrate!
Thank goodness I got no cancer, it's high time I stopped drugs and smoking too, at least I am here to take care of my children.
That boy should better not wait for anything because everything is mine and my daughters too. He is a bastard and deserves nothing!
