Zach's POV.
As I was walking out of the restaurant, I couldn't contain the smile on my face. I was so happy that I wanted to laugh out loud.
It took all of me from running back inside and laughing in his face. However, Eve wouldn't like that since it would look bad on her.
For her sake I had to contain myself. We were back at the car now, so I quickly collected myself and put on a straight face.
Cain got the door for Eve and I and the other two guards stood on watch. I realized luckily not too late that We drove our own car here so I handed my keys to one of the other bodyguards, so he could drive i back.
"Here can you drive my car back." I spoke.
"Yes Sir."
He did a slight respectful bow and then headed towards my car. Within a few minutes we were on the road and heading back to Eve's office.
However, she was still staring out the window with a contemplative look on her face. Like she was deep in thought.
"Penny for your thoughts." I asked her, knocking her out of her stare.
"Wha- OH sorry I was just thinking how Cain knew that we were in trouble. Do you know anything about it."
I thought about it for a moment deciding whether I should tell her or not. I realized that there really wasn't any harm in telling her since she already knew that I used to work with Cain.
"Yea I texted him to rush over." I said.
A look of surprise splashed across her face, I don't think she expected me to tell her the truth.
"Thank you for calling him."
"Of course." I said as I reached my hand across and placed it atop her, my fingers slowly caressing the top of her hand.
"I'd do anything for you." I whispered as the car neared her office building.
Eve's POV.
After Cain dropped me back off at work, I didn't waste any time and got back into my huge stack of paperwork.
When I originally walked back into my office, I could have sworn that the stack had gotten bigger, to my dismay my assistant Claire had told me that it in fact had gotten bigger.
"Ahh the paperwork just never ends. Sigh." I said with a sigh.
I still had around five hours till the end of day. I could clock out early but that wouldn't look so good for the boss to leave while all of my other employees were still stuck at work.
I tried to lead by example, as the hours slowly ticked by.
****
As the time neared the end of the workday my phone started to buzz. I thought that it was Zach calling to check in on me like he usually did, however when I looked at the caller ID. I was shocked to see who it was.
[ FIRST HOSPITAL. ]
I immediately picked it up thinking that something terrible had happened to Zach.
"Hello."
"Yes, is this Miss Eve."
"This is her."
"We are calling to inform you that a worker of yours was involved in an accident. The reason we called you was because he was driving your husband's car. The man is in critical condition." The voice that sounded like it belonged to an older man.
"Ok thank you I will be right there."
"Yes ma'am."
I quickly hung up the phone and tried to call Zach however all I got was a dial tone. Freaking out even more not only because one of my bodyguards was seriously injured but that whoever did it was probably trying to go after my husband Zach.
I rushed out the door texting Cain to meet me out front.
First things first, I need to go to FIRST HOSPITAL to check on the bodyguard.
