Eve's POV.
I noticed that the past few days Zach has been acting differently. Like he has been distracted by something.
He won't even look directly into my eyes anymore.
It was very worrying.
Right now, I was at work, so I was unable to check in on Zach nor Did I have the time to worry about him. I was swamped with work. One of our competitors has been poaching our prospective clients at every turn.
The most infuriating thing is that the company is owned by the William's family. Aka James Williamson.
There isn't a doubt in my mind that he is doing it on purpose to try and get back at me for earlier. He also probably wants me to call him so we can have a 'business meeting' at a sleazy hotel.
I have been in this business a while; I am not a fool for how the powerful men view women even if they are in the same position as them. All they see is a pair of tits and ass and think they immediately have a claim to it.
It was revolting and disgusting.
I needed to think of a way to safely get rid of James not only from trying to force my parents into having me divorce Zach, and them marrying him. Also, because I need to have his company stop stealing all of our prospective clients.
As I was thinking about ways to get rid of James completely my phone buzzed which snapped me out of it.
"BUZZ!"
I flipped it over as I usually had it face down, so it didn't distract me from work. I saw that it was a text from Zach which caused me to smile.
[Do you want to grab lunch today. Pleaassseee.] His message read.
Normally I would just order take out or some other form of crappy food for lunch but since I was needing a break anyway and Zach had been distant, I readily replied to him.
[That sounds lovely.]
"BUZZ!"
[Great pick you up in ten minutes.]
I quickly finished some of the more important documents that I am working on and then grabbed my coat, heading out of my office on the top floor.
"I will be getting lunch outside today, Claire." I told my assistant as I walked past.
'Yes ma'am."
Within a few minutes I was already downstairs in the lobby and heading out the front door.
To my surprise Zach was already waiting for me. He was leaning on th side of my car that I let him borrow with a bouquet of flowers in his hands.
My heart felt fuller and started to flutter.
"You got her fast." Zach said with a smile on his face.
"Well I was in a lull in paperwork, so I was able to leave right away."
"So I texted at the right time then."
"Yes. Yes you did, thank you." I said as I neared and he handed me the flowers.
I put my nose to the tops of the flowers and they smelled wonderful, heavenly, peaceful. He moved to the side and opened the door for me to get in.
He was being the perfect gentleman.
"Where are we going for lunch dear." I felt a bit daring and decided to tease him a little by calling him dear.
He seemed to have noticed as he stared at me for a moment and then smiled showing his pearly white teeth to me.
"That my dear is a surprise." He said with a mischievous grin on his face.
I knew that if he was keeping it a secret then it was going to be some place that I was going to love.
So I sat back in the seat and let him take the wheel. I was an obeying passenger along for the ride at this point.
And I couldn't have been happier for it.
