Chapter 13 - Qing Dynasty's Ambitions

In the north of China, a grand palace surrounded with traditional pagodas lay in the secluded mountains of the Changping district, 30 miles north of Beijing, the capital of China.

The Pagodas and grand Palace housed the descendants of the Qing dynasty with its advisors and eldest leaders. Currently, a large-scale meeting was occurring with excited members of the Qing family and their respected upper echelons.

The Qing Emperor, Qing Genji, was surrounded by his children, grandchildren and advisors with a celebratory atmosphere as they have been given the gods grace; a chance to rise again.

Although the emperor was secluded and few remembered his dynasty or his uncle, the last reigning emperor of China, he always held hope to rise again through politics and economic wars against the new government. He was searching for an opportunity to tramp on the disgusting new government and its policies and recreate the true and mighty Qing dynasty once again.

When the foreign races invaded, the Qing dynasty and its followers were shocked at the appearance of monsters wantonly slaughtering and feasting on the citizens of China. Immediately, the emperor commanded all forces to take over and reinforce the regions throughout the north of China under his control. Due to the already high presence of loyal retainers residing as mayors or military commanders hiding in major cities throughout the north, this was easier attained than even the Qing dynasty had thought. With superior firepower, they quickly decimated the ranks of Orcs and Goblins and blocked all communication with central China. Once new white-furred bears appeared, they were once again gunned down with relative ease and low casualties.

By blocking commutation with central China through commutation towers and Qing-supported service providers and enacting a make-shift border to the south, the new government would be severely limited in information about the uprising of the Qing dynasty, giving much needed time to establish themselves in cities within control.

The only problem Qing Genji had, was Beijing.

Beijing was the capital of China, it was the symbol of rule and of the utmost importance to the emperor, hence he could not use force to destroy the outer perimeter of Beijing's newly created defences, established once the new government personnel and military understood what the Qing dynasty was planning on the second day post-invasion.

Currently, few cities in northern China eluded the Qing dynasties control, and Beijing was one of them. Although they had successfully cut off information flow from the city to the new government, they had barricaded themselves in the cities most important buildings and created a perimeter threatening suicide by bombing if Qing dynasty personnel steps foot inside. This was a problem that could be solved with time to the Qing emperor, as borders a hundred miles south of Beijing were already fully controlled; Beijing was already in their hands.

"My advisors, my children and grandchildren, my loyal retainers, we have mostly secured the north of our homeland." Genji continued with an ever-growing smile on his face, "Why question the existence of the status page? Clearly, it is divine assistance sent from above! Our ancestors want us to rise once more!" He roared. "We must not become complacent. We still have enemies at all sides, and with all blessings comes a disaster, this time in the form of those vile beasts. The new government to our south, the beasts descending from above, and the martial alliance within. We must ensure loyalty from both our civilians and military!"

A kneeling eunuch replied, "My emperor, I suggest we bolster our fortifications on the south and east perimeter, we must ensure those dogs in central don't invade us by sea! We do not have the ships to contend with them!"

"I understand, send a legion of the green army to both the east and south, have the modern military maintain a presence at both the border and in cities throughout our regions. Ensure no rebellion starts or riots appear, ration our stockpiles out and continue work on the fields." The emperor replied.

"The green army?!" The children of the emperor, Prince and princess Qing couldn't help but scream out loud. The green army was a disbanded elite army comprised of cold weapon experts, deemed useless by advisors toward the end of the Qing dynasty in favour of raising more modern armies to keep up with China's technologically advanced neighbours, namely Japan. To think that it was never disbanded and continued to train and recruit such a large number of soldiers while keeping it secret, this was something they believed impossible.

The emperor enjoyed seeing the shock on his children's faces. His kids were well within their fifties and grandchildren in their twenties, living their lives accumulating knowledge of imperial duties, but they didn't yet know everything. It was an accomplishment to shock them!

"Yes sir" The eunuchs and advisors answered before bowing and taking their leave. They had much work to do and little time to accomplish it, but they were satisfied. It was finally the time to show China who its rulers truly are.

The next day, two legions of expert green army soldiers left for both the south and east, their mission to protect newly divided borders of the great Qing dynasty. However, once the east legion arrived at the Beidaihe district, a port region, they understood the reason no attempts of communication through the seafront had been made by the central regions. 'It seems that we have been blind and ignorant' one of the commanders thought, whilst eyeing through a telescope at a large shark like-fin the size of a megalodon, with archaic patterns designing the monsters' fins. 'If these creatures are so close to the shore, I can't imagine the atrocities floating further to sea. We no longer have to worry about an invasion by the sea, at least' He thought before passing this information on to his superior.
