Today was the end of the month as Nasha told us and we're going to clean the house. The house has quite a few rooms so we are divided into a few group.
I, Sahra and Aoi was tasked with sweeping the floor. Aoi is one of the younger kid, only at the age of 7. She has short blonde hair with grey eyes. Surprisingly she's a pinky taller than me despite being me being 2 years older. She gives off the same feeling as Layla, an energetic person, but calmer.
The other girl, Sahra has a long platinum hair and bright cyan eyes. She has the patience trait. Funnily enough despite that being the same age as me she is a head taller than me.
'I'm short... it's fine, it's fine. I'm still growing...'
Ignoring the height differences, I decided to take the lead in cleaning. Not because I'm slightly salty about my height, not at all. It's because I have done plenty of housework alone when I started living independently. Thanks to that I'm quite confident in my home skills.
When we started working, there's an uncomfortable silence surrounding us, mostly because of me. All the kids in this place was already used to each other but not me.
If I had to describe the relationship of the 7 kids it would be family while I was only an acquaintance living in the same place, a neighbor if you will.
It's not their fault either. They have already tried to bond with him plenty of time but the old Ken ignored it every time. It was painful obviously at how surprised they were when I started joining them on their games.
Under the silence, Sahra was the first one to speak. Being the eldest sister, Sahra felt a responsibility to keep everyone happy and not feel left out.
"Un, Ken? I heard you can use magic already, Is that true?"
"Well... not really?"
Silence descended once again onto the room. It was Aoi who joined our 'conversation' next.
"P-playing with you was fun! You were amazing!"
"I had fun too, especially when I won." I suddenly wanted to tease them a bit.
"Hey! That's right, you definitely cheated didn't you!"
"What are you talking about? Cheating? I don't understand why you would accuse me of such thing." I feigned ignorance.
"You won all the games first try!"
"I'm just that good."
In the end, we succeeded at breaking the ice. Although it was still a bit awkward, it was a start. Everything start with communication no matter how small.
After we're done cleaning the house, Nasha reward us with a special treat. A small round shape candy was given to all of us.
"This is your reward. Today's dinner is also a special treat so you can look forward to it!"
Curious about the candy of this world, I tossed it into my mouth right after. It was similar to a rock candy. At first the flavor was sour before slowly turning into a mellow sweetness as time goes on. It was no where near the candies in my previous life but somehow this was the most happy I felt eating one.
'Maybe it's the body that's affecting me.'
I wasn't sure. But right now I just want to enjoy this moment of happiness a little more. Feeling the candy melts inside my mouth, I noticed the children was looking at me weirdly.
"Aat?" I asked slightly confused.
"Cen you don't save candy for later?"
"Wai?"
"Stomach for dinner!"
I sudden realization hit me. Right, they're still children so it's a no go huh.
"I want to eat one too."
"No Layla, you won't have the stomach for dinner if you do." Tok denied.
"But Cen!"
"He's... he eats a lot more than you."
"Not fair! I want one too!"
"No means no." Tok said, refusing to budge.
Seeing Layla sulks I couldn't but laugh out loud. It was a great day.
