Werewolves, how did they come into existence?
Simple.
These creatures emerged as a result of a curse. The moon curse.
In the ancient times, gods walked the earth and interacted with mortals. Zeus was one of those gods. He was the great Greek god who was the most powerful and most feared by the mortals and immortals, alike.
Zeus' power was beyond anything and everything. He could control the weather, bestow life upon the dead and had the power to renounce blessings or curses.
One evening, Pelasgus, a close friend of Zeus and the King of Athens, invited him for dinner.
Pelasgus was a Demi-god, his mother was a mortal whereas his father was a god.
Pelasgus had a son. A spoilt son who never valued or respected anyone. He was known for his brutality, anger and slaying of innocent humans. His name was, Lycaon.
He was the prince of Athens.
When the time came to serve Zeus something to eat, Lycaon served him stale human flesh. The flesh of humans that he had ruthlessly butchered.
Zeus, was angered. It was at that moment, that he cursed Lycaon.
Lycaon was cursed to be a shape shifting monster. A creature of the woods. A creature that shifts on every full moon. A creature that is half human and half wolf.
A creature that is otherwise known as a lycanthrope or werewolf.
Lycaon was banished from his throne and his kingdom. He was forced to live in the wilderness and hunt animals to survive. He cried out to the wolf goddess for a companion and his request was granted as he was bestowed upon, a beautiful human as his mate. Diana, was her name.
Lycaon and Diana mated to produce the first generation of werewolves.
