"It's coming." Zayn spoke in a whisper-like voice and gripped Angie's hand tightly as the ultra-dangerous monster came. He was pretty worried because this girl had no such fear of almost anything and might attract that basilisk's attention once again.
"Shaa!" The basilisk crushed all the monsters that got in its way. It could smell the distinctive aroma that drove it crazy, and it had to get it at all costs.
*Rumble* *Rumble*
The basilisk hit the blocked path, opening the stairs leading up. However, the exit path was still not safe because the zombified animals were still around, including that ultra-dangerous monster.
'That basilisk became even more powerful and terrifying after killing the glowing flower monster. Can humans defeat that kind of monster?' Zayn asked in wonder in his mind.
He had never tried to challenge any dangerous monster head-on in the past few days. He only treated the smaller ones as experimental subjects in his research on liquids that possessed special effects on zombies and zombified animals.
"..." Angie just waited in silence. She glanced at Zayn briefly and watched those monsters opening the exit path. She was pretty proud because her human was so clever to control those hordes of monsters now.
The surrounding monsters checked here and there for a few minutes. Some even dug into the ground to find the source of the tantalizing smell. Yet, the scent slowly faded and disappeared.
"???" The basilisk felt a bit confused, but it felt like the food with the tantalizing aroma earlier had been devoured by one of the rodents that arrived here first.
The effect of the blue liquid had subsided, but nothing could calm the basilisk's fury.
"Shaa!" The basilisk went rampage and attacked the nearby zombified rodents mercilessly. It then chased the escaped rodents, clearing the exit path.
"Now is our chance." Zayn immediately stood up and ran towards the stairs leading to the top.
"???" Angie suddenly stopped in her tracks before climbing the stairs. She glanced back, but the basilisk suddenly noticed her gaze.
"!?" The basilisk was still in its rampage state. It threw the corpse of the zombified rodent from its mouth and rushed after the human-like creatures.
"What's wrong?" Zayn felt a bit confused because Angie suddenly stopped. Yet, he immediately panicked because the basilisk was after them now.
"Why can you so easily attract the attention of that ultra dangerous monster, Angie!?" Zayn immediately carried Angie like a sack of potatoes and rushed upstairs at maximum speed.
*Bam!*
The basilisk crept up the stairs and hit the wall at the turn. It continued to chase the two human-like creatures that were running away.
Zayn kept running and turning at every intersection he came across so the basilisk wouldn't spit on his back with corrosive liquid or poison.
He then took a small pouch of powder. He opened it and threw it backwards, scattering the powder on the basilisk's head.
"Roar!" The basilisk growled in pain. Its eyes were excruciatingly sore and burning. Its vision was impaired, but it resumed its pursuit with even more fury.
"!?" Zayn could guess the powder's effect significantly impacted the basilisk's sense of sight. He took the opportunity to turn at a certain intersection, then immediately hid in a small gap between the walls.
He then put Angie down and covered her mouth with his hand, so she didn't make any sound.
"!?" Angie was a little taken aback, but she didn't fight back. She still had no idea why that basilisk was targeting her whenever it realized she was nearby.
*Swoosh!*
The basilisk overlooked Zayn's hiding place and passed that spot like a passing train.
When Zayn saw the empty path, he immediately carried Angie in a princess carry. He suspected Angie's glowing feline eyes could be so conspicuous in the dark. He feared she would attract that basilisk's attention again.
"..." Angie remained motionless in her human's arms, staring at Zayn's face. She had no idea why, but she felt Zayn would do anything for her.
A few dozen minutes later, Zayn safely made it to the second basement. However, he was out of breath and needed to rest for a while. He got lost several times in basement three, and the journey here took a lot of effort since he carried a 'burden' all the way.
"Would you like a drink?" Zayn handed Angie a bottle of mineral water.
"???" Angie just accepted it, but she didn't drink it. She didn't feel thirsty now.
"Phew... basements three and two oddly have almost no zombies hanging around, unlike basements four and five. I wonder why." Zayn muttered after taking a sip of his drink. He saved their drinking supplies because it was only two bottles.
"We'll be getting out of here today. Although, we don't know when the day will change, we'll be out as soon as possible." Zayn clenched his fists, and Angie just nodded in response.
Angie then pulled her tight suit. It was very uncomfortable, and she wanted something else immediately, or she would take her clothes off soon.
Zayn could understand the meaning behind that gesture and immediately gave his confirmation to calm Angie down.
He also needed one for himself, and because of that, their first destination after exiting the monster's lair was a place where they could find nice, comfy clothes.
After a short break, Zayn took Angie's hand and went upstairs. The path was blocked, but there was an opening for a human to pass.
*Thump*
"!?" Zayn's heart suddenly felt like it was being squeezed for something he couldn't understand. He had just gone up to basement one, and his survival instinct suddenly screamed danger.
He immediately hugged Angie and jumped away from their initial spot.
*Tap* *Tap* *Tap*
The sound of footsteps came closer, and Zayn widened his eyes in surprise when he found a monster on the other side of the corridor. It was still dark, but his inner eye could see a human-like creature with jet-black skin covered in an armor-like skeleton protecting its body.
Zayn's heart felt like it was being squeezed painfully. He felt the same danger when dealing with the basilisk, but this one also had a mental pressure effect. Its skeleton head suddenly turned to the side, staring at the other creatures using its blood-red eyes.
"???" Angie couldn't understand why Zayn suddenly broke out in a cold sweat. She looked at the skeleton zombie in confusion, then looked up at Zayn's face again.
"!?" Zayn suddenly followed his survival instinct to duck his head down. He put his hand over Angie's head to ensure she followed his movements.

The skeleton zombie shot up like a rocket and swung its claws at where its opponent's head had previously been.
That slash barely touched Angie's long hair. If Zayn hadn't moved quickly to follow his survival instincts, they might have been beheaded by this monster's godly speed.
"We're just passing through, sir zombie! Please ignore us and leave us alone!" Zayn considered the pros and cons immediately before choosing to run away at maximum speed. He wasn't ready to fight an ultra-dangerous animal, let alone a super scary zombie!
Zayn threw a vial of orange liquid at that super zombie to buy himself some time to escape with Angie.
"!?" The skeleton zombie was surprised to find a liquid right in front of its head.
That liquid was still mid-air and didn't look dangerous, but the skeleton zombie swung its huge claws to get the liquid out of its body.
Unfortunately, the liquid would splash when it encountered an impact. Because of that, a few drops splashed onto the skeleton zombie's body.
It didn't take a second for the orange liquid to affect the zombies. Intense heat and itching suddenly spread throughout the skeleton zombie's body.
"Grr!?" The skeleton zombie tried to scratch its itchy body, but it caused several wounds due to its sharp claws.
The skeleton zombie scratched its body against the rough walls and gravel floor, but the itching didn't go away.
Therefore, it endured the intense itching and heat and darted through the dark corridor to chase after the human just now with thick killing intent.
